  1. guys,

how come i always get a cold after i eat spicy food. not really instantly most probably is after a few hours na feel ko na may namumuo na sipon na sa throat or the next day pagising

allegic rhinitis. if you really like to eat spicy food you can blunt the symptoms by taking an antihistamine like loratidine right before you eat spicy food

  2. thank you for answering my questions...:) I have another one if its ok..

I have this huge painless lump at the base of my left hand near my wrist - who should I consult?

post a picture... it'll give us an idea what it is

  3. greenhills residents go there in the morning to jog walk and socialize. most of them are senior citizens who are regulars at jolibee and other fastfoods. many of them are too such cheapskates such that jolibee has to ask for the receipt to refill their coffee since most oldie groups there just order a couple of breakfast meal then share the coffee. ironic since these grannies are the filthy rich and would spend so much on on premium xiao long bao in ding tai feng when going to taipei. most of them would just try crystal jade once or twice then go back to the cheaper fastfoods

haha, totally off topic but so true!

keeping to the topic, it may not be the best dimsum around, but i always have this craving for kowloon house's asado siopao (catpao) with their hotsauce!

  4. mahirap mag diagnose ng hindi na-P.E. but you can have a chest x-ray then tingnan natin ang result. pag negative most probably allergy ang cause(heto ay kung NEGATIVE ang x-ray) but then again mas maganda kung makita ka for exam.

takutin kita para magpatingin ka. pudeng allergy. pudeng TB. pudeng COPD.

    daming puede no?

if you're the typical pinoy patient, you probably went to a doctor, got a prescription, it didn't work, went to another doctor, got another prescription, it didn't work then went to another doctor.... etc etc.

if your meds don't work, go back to the same doctor who prescribed it, (at least once, if he hasn't got it right after a few consults, it's perfectly okay to get a second opinion)... medicine isn't an exact science and that's why we ask you to follow-up whether or not symptoms have cleared.

if i'm wrong about you sue me.

  5. tagal na nitong post. just in case somebody passes by...

if you're having serious doubts about your medical career, go find another place to weep your heart out. this isn't the place for weak knees and doubting hearts. change gears while you still have the chance. you probably didn't think out what getting that MD at the end of your name entails if you are seriously considering stopping at this point in your career.

  6. you can try warm or cold compress

shingles pain is mainly neuropathic (nerve-mediated) that's why it hurts so goddamn much... taking B-complex in your diet can help by ensuring the building blocks for a nerve's insulation are abundant.

  7. Thanks Doc!

Should seek consult from a cardiologist?

12 years ago, I was advised to get an ECG test since my heart rate was kinda slow than the usual and I also complained of occasional stabbing chest pains.

So when I did, the doctors said I have bradychardia(nothing that i should worry about) and the doctor prescribed pain relievers for the chest pains. I haven't been experiencing the stabbing chest pain since I was 19 until last month.

agree. get an ECG. check your thyroid function.

    but first see a doctor.

  8. Yup, sounds like hyperventilation syndrome.

    Questions :

    - Bakit ngayon lang ito nangyari sakin? dahil ba stressed na talaga ako?

--you may not know it or admit it to yourself pero ngayon ka lang siguro nastress o napagod. of course kelangan magpacheckup ka na din to rule out any organic cause/health problem leading you to stress out

    - do i need to do something para di na ulit mangyari ito?

--mukhang may ginagawa ka naman, at least narecognize mo na. as a quick relief try breathing in and out of a brown paper bag once you get the symptoms

    - nakakahawa ba ito?

    --nopes

    - may mga dapat ba ako iwasan?

--iwas sa mga bagay na nakaka-'stress' sa katawan. don't take too much coffee, don't smoke. get enough sleep.

    - may mga dapat ba akong i take to prevent this?

--take the meds the doctor gave you, usually mga anxiolytics yan or drugs to reduce anxiety. otherwise psychotherapy with a psychiatrist can help

Thanks po at pasensya na sa haba nang post ko na ito :P

  9. ask ko lang po my friend was diagnosed of having laryngeal Tb..

ano po mga dapat niya gawin at mga gamot na dapat inumin..

so far he's in the province having a vacation coz he believes na nid niya fresh air..

since it's extrapulmonary TB (outside the long) he might need 10-12 months treatment instead of the usual 6. tell him to look for a DOH DOTS(TB) center nearby for consult and meds.

  10. Thanks sir. Antay ko a week cgro before dalhin ko sya obgyne. Tnx

you can have false negatives up to 3 weeks using urine HCG tests (over the counter preg tests) you may want to try serum HCG (blood testing) or you can just do a transvaginal ultrasound to see if there has been implantation already. I agree with the other MDs, if you need to be sure, consult an OB-GYN.

  11. first and most important of all don't lick your lips, use lip balm or petroleum jelly (to moisten your lips especially the corner) as often as needed maybe 5 or more times a day.

Wait for the crack to heal completely and minimize opening your mouth (if you can) you can use povidone iodine mouthwash to paint the crack (5 x a day)

if after a week you don't see any improvement please see your ENT-HNS doctor for consult.

and make sure you don't have any vitamin deficiencies.
