  1. sir

    patulong nmn jan pls :( :( :(

di kya sira ang mainboard ko o kya ung processor ;)

    main board ecs mainboard L7VTA

    graphics card 128 inno3d geforce 5200

    processor amd 2400xp

    os winxp home ed

    ram 256 ddr

    harddisk 80 gig hd

Since you have a clean installation of the OS, necessary updates and patches for your hardware the only problem remaining is the memory usage. If you are using winXP, you can free some background services by using the administrative tools - services. Here are some services that can be safely disabled but be sure to read the description and the dependencies of each service:

    1 ATM Service

    2 Automatic Updates

    3 Human Interface Device Access

    4 Machine Debug Manager

    5 Messenger

    6 Routing and Remote Access

    7 SSDP Discovery Service

8 Universal Plug and Play Device Host

*** if you are not sure, set it to "manual"

Here are some services that can be set to manual:

    1 Alerter

    2 Fast User Switching Compatibility

    3 Fax

    4 Help and Support

5 Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) / Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

    6 Performance Logs and Alerts

7 Remote Access Auto Connection Manager

    8 Remote Access Connection Manager

9 Remote Desktop Help Session Manager

10 Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator

    11 Remote Registry

    12 Secondary Logon

    13 Task Scheduler

    14 Windows Installer

Then the most memory consuming program is the antivirus background scanning.

You can also set the in-game settings such as the video settings to a lower point.

If these does not help... well at least it will make you PC a little faster than before.

  2. Apollo11 sir,

It also helps if you uninstall the driver for your pinnacle before you placed it in another slot, then install it again. Also have the latest driver version plus the latest adobe updates.

  3. Hey guys... I'm trying to recover some files that I erased... I tried the PC Inspector File Recovery app (Freeware) and it gives me this error message (attached to this post)... anyone come across this already?

    OR...

Any of you got a copy of a file recovery program? I need to bring back some data that I erased from my laptop... Your help is much appreciated.

Well I use Restoration version 2.5.14 and I never have problems with these yet.

You can download it from the internet, its a freeware.

  4. deues Sir,

On rundll32 - does it say "Rundll32 - This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" and if you click on the details: "RUNDLL32 caused a General Protection Fault in module MMSYSTEM.DLL" or "RUNDLL caused a General Protection Fault in module MMSYSTEM.DLL at 000a:00000032"

-- try to use notepad to edit the system.ini file and add the line "drivers=mmsystem.dll" but back the file first before you edit

  5. Does anyone here uses an OPTERON class AMD processor?

I'm planning to build my new rig consisting of 2 AMD opteron processors on a Tyan Tiger K8W (S2875) motherboard with 1-2GB DDR400 RAM modules and I would like to know if there are any issues about this processor class and also your opinions about this rig before I start ordering them. This rig will serve as a digital editing workstation as well as an extreme gaming machine. Thank you all in advance.

  6. If what Intel's been saying for Prescott is true, then Prescott it must be. BTW, read the reviews and benchmarks before buying one. As I've read that AMD 64 FX is so close behind intels new and powerful processors.

  7. Silverchariot sir,

Point 1 - operating temp of your CPU is from 0-90C (die cast) with a regular temp of 36-47C (die cast) at default cpu speed and with a very good cooling fan. It is also slightly higher as the surrounding temp goes higher. Im using a 2400+ athlon cpu (2GHz) clocked to the equivalent of 3200+ (2.261Ghz) at a maximum of 57C during a hot days (30C) on an aluminum-copper heatsink with a 3000rpm fan (PC case is in negative pressure condition). If I power-up my nasty 4 inch, 220V front intake fan it drops to 40-48C.

Point 2 - mobo cooling system is a program that lessens the CPU usage let say from 50% to 30% which in turn will also lessen the CPU temperature. I don't think that the temp decrease these programs do is significant enough since the capacitors and chips inside will also generate heat and then will be suck by the CPU fan.

  8. lenguaestofada try the following:

    Control panel-display-settings-advance-geforce

    1. Select "default profile" in the color correction tab - usually this is the culprit

    2. Enable/disable openGL texture clamp behavior in openGL settings and dont disable cpu instruction sets

    3. Default color depth is dependent on the program, switch 16bpp or 32bpp

    4. Lower the monitor refresh rate to 60Mhz

    5. In troubleshoot tab, set the acceleration to full and enable write combining

Always have the newest graphics driver version and directx version

Monitor should support the capabilities of the installed video card

Video acceleration should be in 4x or 8x in display properties as well as bios (plus in bios use UC in the advance chip settings-video memory cache mode)

Driver of motherboard chips be installed prior to OS drivers

Just use win xp when running 3D apps

I've been using NVidia graphics card eversince so I hope this helps.

  10. I went to the MSI website (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/), well it says that the 746 does not support a THORTON class CPU which was introduced in Sept 2003. The latest bios version is A6717SMS.100

About dual boot system, it should be no problem since they are both microsoft.

About RAM problems, you can also disable the bios shadowing feature so it will not use the RAM during booting but this will lengthen the booting process. If it is a RAM problem, the mobo will generate warning beeps as you start-up.

Sir maybe you got an overclocked CPU thats why it is returning to the 100Mhz FSB. Did you do a benchmark right after you purchased it? Sisoft sandra is good benchmarking program.

  11. Well sir if it is a hardware problem, an upgrade for the drivers and the bios should solve this except if you have a hardware that is too old. I have a problem once with my IR attachement, it works well from win 98 to 2000 pro but on XP it does not. Even if I already got an upgraded driver. I will assume that your SIS mobo has a disc included which contains some board drivers. These drivers should be installed before you install the drivers of other hardwares. But a hardware problem should not interfere with the advance chipset setting of the BIOS.

  12. yes, patriart is right by manually setting the FSB to 133 (266) with a multiplier of 12.5, that will give you a 1.66 GB CPU external frequency (Athlon XP 2000+). Not all XPs are a 133(266), these are core "A". For core "B" it is 166(333) as for XP2600+.

    Does this solved your problems?

  13. another point:

As you said that you have to reset the motherboard bios - reseting the bios is necessary if the advance bios settings is not correct such as the cpu parameters and memory parameters, specially in cases of overclocking. Have you considered having bought an overclocked processor?

  14. point 2:

CPU might not be getting enough juice from the PSU.

Or you can lower your cpu speed

As you've said - board, processor, memory, video card was replaced. The PSU was not. Primarily I suspect that this is the one that is giving the trouble. Not all 350W PSU can supply 350W of juice. Second, the bios settings might not be correct for the peripherals attached or may not support the RAM (a bios update will solve this). Third are the drivers of some attached peripherals as these problems frequently reboots the system (I have an IR device which does not work well with XP even if the driver is for XP but was not digitally signed by XP).

Last, if you've already tried this and nothing works, damn the shop which sold you these junks.

  15. Silverchariot sir,

    Here are some try-its.

    1. Try to back-up all your data and switch off XP?s automatic restart: press [Windows] + [Pause/Break] to open the System Properties and go to the Advanced tab and click Settings under Startup and Recovery. Uncheck the box marked "Automatically Restart" and click OK. Now when your system crashes you?ll get a STOP error ? make a note of the error itself and any files it mentions and search the web.

    2. Update all drivers including BIOS

    3. Increase the cpu core voltage to 1.7 (don't shut-off your cooler)

    4. PSU might not be enough, at least 350W.

    5. CPU shutdown temp is might set in lower temp than it should be.

  16. For PS1

    Final Fantasy VIII

    Resident Evil (all)

    Syphon Filter (all)

  17. Guys,

I'm planning on bayung a pc. Saang store ba pinaka ok bumuli? Can you recommend any specs na maganda for surfing the net and for playing games? Yung medyo affordable.

    Thanks.

  18. With my XP running, can i make a partition on my hard drive and not lose my data?

Would it require a third-party software?

Yes, you can make a partition using XP's disk management. You will not loose data as long as you don't delete or format the partition containing your data. The first step is to defragment your hard drive and create a system restore point.

To access this is to go to control panel-administrative tools-computer management-storage-disk management and right clicking on the hard drive you want to create a new partition and follow the instructions carefully. Sometimes this create partition is not available (I've not have the chance to analyse it yet).

You can also use a third party application such as Powerquest Partition Magic 8.0 and above (I use this software more often than XP's own partitioning software).

  19. transformer, try to create a 2nd partition on your hard drive and transfer all your documents there so when you have to reformat again you won't loose them.

You can reroute the link and transfer the files of My Documents folder to the 2nd partition by going to the shortcut properties and specifying the TARGET folder.

  20. hi    to everyone    i have a problem in my computer ,when i open internet explorer nagkakaroon ng error TASDBOT.EXE ang lalabas ,then if i open netscape6 may error ulit IPHLPAPI.DLL ang lalabas then a may messege na restart your computer but when i start my computer nagkaroon ng new hardware detected pero wala naman akong nilagay.i try to install a driver  for it but never found the new hardware .i am using winme. minsan naman lalabas yung error KERNEL32.DLL. Idont understand what happend to my computer ,it is possible that my com have a virus? hope you  can help me

Probably a virus that corrupted the registry. What was the last apps that you used right before this error problem?

Can you post the SERVICES running and STARTUP applications by going to the RUN menu and typing MSCONFIG so we can have a look at what program is not a "normal flora" of windows?

  21. Can I install a 128mb video card on a P-III? Whats the best 128mb video card? Thanks!!

First, you should check if your motherboard supports DDR memory cause it maybe hard to find a graphics card with 128MB SDR memory. Most vendors sell only 64MB SDR graphics card. You might have problems when installing a DDR memory graphics card into a SDR memory VGA slot. The worst is it may not work.

Second, it does not matter if you pick an 8X card since most of these cards are backward compatible.

If you have the motherboard manual then you should have no trouble checking about the specs and supported peripherals of your motherboard.

  22. actually this is my next project pc... but you can check out the specs!

processor-AMD Athlon 2500 XP+ Barton(i heard most amd's from 2500 up will all be Bartons na daw...)

    mobo-MSI K7NDELTA-L nforce2/dual ddr/l/s

    ram memory-2x256mb DDR 333

    hdd-seagate 80gb sata

vdo card- his excalibur ati 9200 128mb ddr(or his excalibur ati 9600 256mb ddr)

    cd rom-lite on

    cdrw-lite on

    1.44 fdd-sony

    monitor-17" samsung 753s syncmaster(no glares!)

chassis fans-two coreless high speed fans

so what do you thinks guys?

Sir Roxysnonie, caution on using 1 SATA HD.

I have experimented with 1 WD120GB SATA. During start-up, the SATA driver must be loaded before the system can load the OS.

The problem is that the scandisk program is frequently executed even if you

have a normal/safe shutdown. Remember that these programs are in the SATA HDD. After several start-ups and scandisks, the SATA driver will not load and you will see the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH requiring you to restart the PC again.

You restart again and again until you go crazy (I tried to upgrade the

bios and sata driver but still no effect). To fix this is only to reinstall your OS which means reformating your HD again (you will not be given a choice to overwrite the previous installation). You can try the FIX option during OS reinstallation but it wont do you no good since the SATA HD can not be accessed. Fed up, I bought a 40GB ATA133 HD, installed the OS and my problem's gone. My SATA is now a back-up HD with all my programs and working files (except the OS) installed. I have not yet tried experimenting on 2 SATA HD (Raid 0 or 1 configuration) without an IDE HD (I will when funds are available) and have a little experience in SCSI HDs so I don't know if it also has this booting problem.

For now, SATA HDs performance is slightly higher or almost insignificant compared

to the ATA133 (JBOD config?). Maybe in RAID 0 or 0,1 configuration will there be a

significant comparison between the two (I have not yet found any articles about RAID comparison between SATA and ATA133).
