  2. I wonder who the future elite shot-blocking big man of the Celtics is. The last time I checked, the Cs never let go of any future elite shot-blocking big man. laugh.gif

Hmp ... hindi mo kilala kung sino?

Oh well, wala naman talaga kasing ganung player ang Celtics except for this TROLL (let's just call him "U") who believed so. laugh.gif

Incidentally, ex-C Fab Melo will continue his career in Brazil according to this ...

Now, Melo has left the United States to pursue a basketball opportunity in his home country. He's still young enough (25) that he could salvage his career and some of his potential, but don't expect him to land in the NBA again. If he doesn't, his final stats would be: six games played, seven total points, three total rebounds, two total blocked shots,
and one concussion suffered while trying to walk through a door.

  6. Napansin ko rin na nasira ang rhythm ni Japeth...maybe poor players rotation, poor feeding by the guards (except for LA pero napapagod din), or being dislodged by a PF of an import.

Actually si Rodgers more of SF ang nilalaro.

Just like vs. Meralco (kahit undersize sila), TnT and San Mig nun 2nd round.

  8. ^^^ I think Japeth is finding it difficult to score because of the defense thrown against him by San Mig. It also gets physical whenever he's inside the paint.

Na observe ko lang din, Japeth seems not too confident in his mid-range jumpers in this series.

I think ATO himself does not know how he'll be able to "help" Japeth pick up his game in this series. Nakita naman natin na from a regular starter, Ato had Japeth coming off the bench i game 5. A move (or experiment) he hopes could give Japeth the advantage if he's playing against San Migs 2nd string of big men.

As far as utilizing Forrester is concerned, well IMHO it will be a very tough decision for coach ATO to play him at this point. While JF has the speed and athleticism to possibly match the speed unit of Tim Cone, I don't think the guy is known for his D when he was playing college ball as well as in the D League. A case of high risk high reward move move in case everything goes well but could ultimately be a disaster if it doesn't. Its already game 6 and we need to win the next two games. I don't think this is the time to take a gamble. .

  9. Like i said, wala talaga sa isip nila umabot sa playoffs.

Oh well, at least kasama natin sina rondo and co. na nangngangamote sa conference.

The Celtics thread is very quiet.

  10. At this point, the playoffs are the furthest thing from the lakers' minds.

Being the conference doormat is one thing, but guys not sticking up for each other? They're not a rebuilding team, they're not even a team.

  11. 1389799316[/url]' post='9086140']

    emphasis mine:

in other words, by your own reckoning, self-interest was not likely the only motivation to provide aid.

losing face was not likely to be the primary motivator. i say that in light of the sheer volume, and the type of aid we received from the US, at a time when that country is economically vulnerable. how much does it cost to bring a carrier and all that equipment over? how much does it cost to bring all that manpower over - including fuel, personnel cost? what kind of aid was received? what millions did the private sector send? if it was just worried about losing face, the US could have easily scaled down its efforts and still been deemed a decent nation. but that's not the point.

the point was to establish how certain you were that self-interest is always the first concern. and to point out... that if the main motivation during the Yolanda relief efforts was the desire to help, and we got that much aid, then a self-serving interest (pick one among the many that have been outlined on this thread such as access to the energy-rich spratlys) would logically lead to the MDT definitely being honored (with a physical presence).

Either you or i can be certain about what really transpired during the decision making process regarding the aid sent. Was self interest never really a factore? This cannot be answered with certainty unless you are there and was part of the decision makers. What you are saying is your opinion, same as mine based on how we view things and our personal beliefs.

None the less as i pointed out, it is but human to always look after ones interest first. Otherwise, why do we set a limit to the aid we give and not just give totally what we have. Self interest may not necessarily be what they will gain from it but also what they need to protect. iMHO ... Generally speaking It may or may not be the primary factor but will always be a factor. It is but human to look after our interest in any decision we make.

Finally, i cannot quite equate a direct corelation on the act of giving humanitarian aid to the victims of yolanda as against say giving aid as per the MDT. The latter is not as simple as the first. I don't see China reacting negatively to the aid the US gave to the yolanda victims as against the US providing aid to the Philippines in relation to the issue on this thread. You never will consider providing aid might escalate to a war between the US and China when aid was given to the victims of Yolanda dont you?

  12. in your opinion, just what self interest did it serve when it (government and private sector) sent billions of dollars in aid for Yolanda?

First and foremost just to clarify ....did the US really sent BILLIONS of DOLLARS in aid to our Yolanda victims already?

I wouldn't want to second guess what "self interest" it did serve the US when they donated. So let me answer your question this way, in general countries and various private sector donated to the victims of Yolanda because they wanted to help. But are we definitely sure that "self interest" was never a factor when they did it? Some companies donated their budget for their Christmas party to the Yolanda victims but why not a bigger amount than that since they can afford it anyway given that they earned good profits for the year? Some companies donated as part of their CSR but knowingly that this will bring them media mileage or whatever benefits. Maybe there were politicians out there too who donated relief goods in plastic bags with their names printed during times of calamities. Surely they just wanted to give aid don't they?

In Uncle Sam's case, in your opinion, can the US afford NOT to donate in aid for Yolanda even if donating was against their will? Well IMHO I don't think so. Just imagine what will the international community say to them or the 'IMAGE" they would be projecting. In fact even if they decided that they really wanted to help or donate can they afford to just donate a "token amount" say like a million dollars or should they go all out say to the point of funding the rehab program for the victims? What do you think came across their minds when they make these decisions? Did they not consider their "interest" when making said decisions? Your guess/opinion is good as mine.

I think same goes when deciding whether or not to give assistance and determining what kind of assistance will be given to us when we talk about the MDT.

  13. The Philippines can't handle China one on one. We can always invoke the Mutual Defense Treaty. When push comes to shove, the US will always come to the aid of its former colony. Of course, this is my opinion.

Its like little bro taking on a fight with someone and when its time to rumble he suddenly calls big bro for resbak laugh.gif

IMHO the US will always look at its interest first before anything else in making a decision. That will decide the kind of "aid" we are to receive.

US aid / support may not come in the form of being there physically with us in case of war ...

  14. I hate to say this but maybe the lakers can just accept the FACt that even if they reach the playoffs their chance to win it all is close to zero. Maybe just give Kobe the time to heal rather than letting him push himself back quickly and play hard for a losing cause. Taking a step backward and getting a good spot in the draft order next year would not be totally a bad idea for a rebuilding team like the lakers.

  15. ^^^ Yes I believe so. At this point only Petron and Rain or Shine has the chance to reach 11 wins.

In case of a triple tie then I guess the quotient will come into play and GSM did beat both clubs so nakakalamang na sila.

  16. di ako magtataka kung may mag-offer ng trade para kay forrester. i'm sure a lot of teams are interested in availing of his services.

  17. umpisa pa lang ng laro makikita na natin na parang may hang-over pa ang team...san mig wanted the win more than ginebra and this can be seen from the hustle plays. despite the presence of the twin towers, there was a big disparity in the offensive boards. daming turnovers malas pa ang FT shooting. but it was a good game. bawi na lang sa susunod na laro.

Ang problema yun dalawa always looking to play help D and try to block un mga nagdadrive so wala rin sila sa posisyon for the defensive board.

A lot of teams they played were able to out hustle the Gin Kings en-route to more offensive boards (ie. Petron, TnT, Meralco to name a few)
