  1. Sa mga 'tweeners like us in the 70's, our idol - ingenue "wish-i-was...or sana I looked-like" was CLOSE UP GIRL Tetet Limjap (now Crisol) na super wholesome.

The models of RUSTAN's VIP and TRIUMPH'S COURT OF FASHION. They are all a class of their own! :thumbsupsmiley:

  2. The other angel was Yehlen Catral mga tsong.

And so was Liz Alizdogan, who was later linked (or wife?) to stuntman Jess Lapid, Jr.

If i'm not mistaken, GP started off in '78 or '79 but the first time I was able to watch

the all-star group was in '81 at a hotel (i cant quite recall now) near Afro Disco in Malate

when I was asked by my boss to tag along with him naka coat and tie pa kami. :P

Some common slang or linggo of the 70s:

    syota - gf

    baduy/bakya - low class

    plastic - wannabee

    tipar - party

    yosi - cigarette

    bigat - cool

    damo - marijuana

    pula - red devil downers

    kilay/ekis - madrax downers

    mogs - mogadon downers

    erbi - beer

    toga - shoes

    yoyo - watch ;)

  3. Yeh Lotis Key, Pilar Pilapil, and Rosanna Ortiz....not quite sure in what order.  But from what I remember, it was Lotis Key (tama ba?) before Alma Moreno and then Zsa Zsa.

Si Pilar yata muna before Lotis then Alma. Tumino na lng yata cya kay ZsaZsa. He was also linked to his "Angels" like Liz Alizdogan. Tindi tlga ni Pidol! :P

Anyways, my favorite cop show then was STARSKY & HUTCH. :thumbsupsmiley:

  4. The 70s was a great era in Phil. professional basketball. :thumbsupsmiley:

Although I was more of a Redmanizer when Toyota and Crispa collide during championship games, I usually cheered for the undergdog ROYAL TRU ORANGE (which was under SMC then) during the regular conferences in the mid 70s. Led by Manny (Kalawit) Paner, Yoyong (Spitfire) Martirez and Estoy (Buaya) Estrada and a host of other Visayan players. The team then was coached by Ed Ocampo who, if my memory serves me right, also served as Toyota coach for some time. :mtc:

  5. And speaking of some memorable comedians of the 70s who have passed away:

Apeng Daldal - famous for his protruding teeth in Super Laff-In and Tangtarangtang

Cachupoy - our version of Charlie Chaplain, sidekick of Pancho Magalona in Magandang Tanghali

Chichay- of Nida-Nestor Show and Mrs. Milyonarya

Bentot - the eternal child of Tangtarangtang in the 60s and 70s

Tange - funndy houseboy in My Son, My Son also one of the cast in Super Laff-In

  6. what if remittance from Italy to PI what's the best way to use? i inquire on BPI since i have an accnt with them, but problem is my uncle is asking for CAB and ABI code or IBAN(Intl Bank Code), but apparently thany dont have any of it, just a SWIFT Code, any advice?

There is a BPI Express Remittance Center is Rome, Italy which your uncle (whom I suppose is working also in Italy) can use in sending money directly to your account also with BPI. I understand that BPI Center in Italy uses a customized system in sending money to the Phils. which is faster vs. the SWIFT system which is expensive and may take 3-4 days before the money is credited to your BPI account because the money will still pass through a NY account of BPI.

  7. Napakasakit Kuya Eddie....

Lonely.  (Sabay tugtog yung kanta "Lonely...I'm Mr. Lonely...I have nobody...)  Or some other crappy name like "Capricorn" or "Taurus" etc.

    Hahahahaha!

    :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Nakana mo, Pareng Magaling!

:D  I think sa DWWW yata iyon.  It was part-news and part-entertainment.  Too bad na Johnny De Leon died at an early age.  Heart attack yata and it was around 1976.  Rod Navarro took over not long after that.

:D :thumbsupsmiley:

  9. Yeah, Eddie Peregrina was killed at the intersection of Shaw Boulevard and EDSA during the pre-EDSA Crossing underpass days.  I think it was 1974 when he died in that car accident.

Sayang classic pa naman iyong kanta niyang "My Pledge of Love".

And speaking of AM Radio during that era, who can ever forget the soap dramas of "Ito ang Inyong Tiya Dely" and "Kahapon Lamang ni Kuya Eddie". Sheeessh...as if these were not enough to torture me, my lola would shift to the deadman's voice of Kuya Cesar as he begins to tell the story behind a f***ing love song. :P

  10. Munsingwear, Sergio Tacchini, ellesee, Fila Bjorn Borg t-shirts. Addidas and Puma sneakers made you really sikat, although Nike was starting to make a name then when it introduced the waffle shoe. Remember pelota? I used to be a hot player then. Wore short shorts together with dragon brand rubber shoes as they were the lightest on the market, parang tsinelas.

i had the pleasure of wearing these in-shirts of the 80s as well which included a few La Coste striped shirts I treasured so much that I personally washed and ironed carefully myself.

In the late 80s, I used to love wearing those pencil-cut maong jeans with colored back pockets and white K-Swiss tennis shoes.

  11. Yeah. he was indeed the unidsputed Jukebox King.  I just don't know kung saan iyong mga jukebox na they were referring to.   :)

How about Rey Valera at ang kanyang romantikong awiting "Superman"?

If i remember right, he and Victor Wood had an intense rivalry as Jukebox King

until Peregrina's untimely death as a result of a car accident in the late 70s.

  12. Huwag rin nating kalimutan ang dakilang si Rudy Genaskey ("Tom Jones" of the Philippines daw) na ang palaging kinakanta sa TV e "Rock Me Baby".  :D

Hahaha...Ang daming Pinoy copy cats nitong si Tom Jones! When I was stationed in Bahrain in the late 80s, I was a regular at the Holiday Inn where lo and behold was the band of BOY MONDRAGON making waves in this Middle Eastern State. I quite remembered this tiny showbiz singer in the 70s doing Tom Jones impersonations and belting out songs of Wilson Picket on TV shows as "Big Ike's Happening" and "The Sensations" (pabaduyan na ito!) :P

But seriously, this guy (or should I say gay) made it really big-time in Manama, Bahrain. :D
