Wrong, nitwit. The low inflation during Abnoy's time was due to a prolonged low interest rate regime by Tetangco of BSP (among other things.) For more than 6 years, BSP key rates were at 3%. It spiked to 7% only beginning 2018.

You got it wrong. Our Key-Rates-to-Inflation correlation goes the other way around.  BSP adjusts lending rates in reaction to inflation.

BSP keeps the key rates low during periods of low inflation, to encourage spending and stimulate the economy. If inflation goes up, BSP tries to slow down the rate of rise of inflation by adjusting the key lending rates upwards to discourage spending and prevent spiraling increase in prices.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas can only try slow down the inflation's up-and-down movement. It cannot to prevent high or low inflation, especially so because our inflation rates are mostly due to external economic and geopolitical factors.

In our case,  inflation was driven by high prices of imported oil, coal, and natural gas. During the Pandemic in 2020-2021, our inflation was driven upwards by the global shortage of manufactured goods dependent on electronic chips due to closures of factories due to Covid-19. In 2022, the Ruso-Ukraine war created high inflation globally due to high fuel prices, energy shortage, and manufacturing decline in Europe.

So far, BSP has been managing  our globally-influenced inflation quite well over the past several administrations. And that's one of the reasons why the Philippines is one of the fastest growing economies in the region.

After the ruling from the Hague, there really is no question regarding our economic and exploratory rights in the West Philippine Sea and the CCP's infringement of those rights and invasion of our waters. We didn't before, but now the CCP and those in the international community that side with the CCP have no real argument.

While the CCP did not send a delegation to appear before the Court in the Hague, they still made a point to submit a position paper that the Hague had no jurisdiction and that their ruling would have no effect. The former is false and the latter is partly true because the UN and it's courts do not have policing authority to compel sovereign nations.

Until we develop a sufficient level of defensive force over the West Philippine Sea, either on our own or through cooperation with other ASEAN members, the CCP will not cease its bullying and forceful takeover of our sovereign rights.

The Hague ruling on South China Sea territorial dispute has no effect on China because we cannot impose our sovereignty over our UNCLOS-based extended territory. We need to spend to acquire more deep-sea capable, high-endurance, off-shore patrol vessels distributed among the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Philippine Navy (PN) to make our presence felt and deter other countries (Vietnam, Malaysia, and China) from being too aggressive.

We're lagging too far behind in the "Might-is-Right" gunboat diplomacy.

  3. Dear Sara,

Looks like the demolition campaign on you started early.

This campaign will run unabated until 2028. They will try to discredit you as Presidential candidate.

But keep in mind, from 2016 to 2022 your political enemies focused on demonizing Du30 & BBM, but they forgot to present Leni as a viable alternative. Leni, on the other hand kept affirming her image as a bumbling half-hearted candidate. Her pinklawan supporters turned voters off with their arrogant holier-than-thou "let me educate you" attitude. So they lost. Still, they keep doing the same actions now, hoping that it will produce a different result.

Wait.....

Long time, no see.

ABS-CBN's closure caused the mainstream media's plunge to irrelevance as political influencer.   However, most of the popular socmed sites like Youtube, Meta, X, etc... cannot be trusted either.

I agree with you though, that Leni lost because of the arrogant holier-than-thou mindset of her supporters. She might as well be relegated to the sidelines because a wanna-be leader like her with the kind of supporters she has, don't deserve to lead.

Itong si Binoe, laftrip mga panukala. Halatang di muna inaaral. Either redundant (as in may batas na umiiral na), Vague, and totally nonsensical.

From the demographics, those who voted for him came from equal  percentages of C,D, and E classes. Ibig sabihin, he got votes from all socio-economic sectors.

People noticed him favorably after he presented on TV and social media interviews his advocacy for Federalism.  He did a good presentation, which gave a good impression of him among the voters. He probably have just memorized his script on federalism, but he did his homework and got himself elected as a result.

Evidently, he is a senatorial neophyte. He committed a lot of laughable gaffs. But time will tell how fast he can learn how to act like a real senator.

Sinasabi nya na UNITY ung gusto nya mangyari but as far as I know maraming galit sa Marcos. How can he convince na isantabi ung galit? Madalas pa mga professionals in their field ung galit sa Marcos.

That's about 9.5 Million of 63 million voters.

Christmas season didn’t stop the barrage of politics on my social feeds. What I did notice consistent though is the fact that my friends, partners or acquaintances in circles of different sides either simply share, short to the point comments or not at all while those far from any action are the ones doing mental gymnastics theories with paragraphs of posts and comments

that's the benefit of following this MTC thread.

here, you'll find distilled analysis of the barrage of information from social feeds.

Umm deny what? Apologies but I can only speak for myself.

im not privy to where you are getting your numbers. In my experience survey numbers can always be skewed. I’ve done some little research and came across a summary of surveys done by Manila Bulletin. In some of those polls BBM came out the leader while in other cases it was either Leni or Isko. What’s probably impressive is the fact that in the other poll surveys that BBM did not lead he was always a close second. I didn’t see any 82% figure if I may say.

So there you have it. There’s no denying here but actual poll figures printed by Manila Bulletin. You can check their website if you want to verify. A simple rejoinder, surveys doesn’t make a President. From now till the last ballot is counted a lot of things CAN, MAY and DO change. Let’s see who will sit in the fabled palace of Malacanan by then.

For now congratulations to BBM for being elected as the next Philippines president via poll surveys.😊😊😊

Recent history has shown that the front runner throughout October-February/March isn't always the winner nga naman. Villar and Poe come to mind. Some people are *ahem* too excited about survey results.

Let me give you a hint. Don't just look at the numbers, which obviously point to strong dominating trend in voter preference.

Look further into the statistical analysis. What's the percentage of the undecided?  How much of the undecided does Leni's camp et al have to get to their side to make up the difference?

And you're only looking at the market votes, which, as surveys indicate, is already at least 60% pro-BBM/Sara.

Once the command votes (the votes influenced by the local political machineries) are factored in, it's done. Only covert intervention by foreign superpower(s) can derail the popular mandate. And you think BBM/Du30 camps don't know how to counter that?

What a mentality!

As usual, incoherent argument. What does libel case filed by a private citizen has to do with olympic gold on weight lifting?

Destabilizing a government does not mean bringing it down. The likes of Rezza would churn out trash that would influence public opinion and support away from the leader. A leader without public support becomes weak and can be forced to make decisions on critical issues that are not in the interest of the country. Fortunately, she failed. At the same time, her award exposed the bastardization of the Nobel peace Prize by powerful vested interest groups.

Maybe, but Ressa's mentality is I dont care if the country goes down as long as Digong goes down as well.  Watch her speech, there is so much half truth on it just to poison the minds of foreign countries about the Philippines and Du30.

That's worse than crab mentality. She is peddling her profession to destabilize the government to make it give in to her foreign clients' political pressure.

The survey result is embargoed by Pew and the US government for it will seriously undermine US geopolitical interest in the Philippines. Fortunately or unfortunately, the staff of US government asset Emily Abrera was careless enough to leak it. "

Surveys are just surveys. Remember what happened in the last presidential elections? Duterte wasn’t even mentioned as a contender and it was Grace Poe leading in all surveys.

None of the 2016 Presidential aspirants had more than 30% preference 3 months before the election.

Duterte rallied his support and won with 33%. Logistically, a few percentage win margin is possible especially if you have a well-organized campaign team.

But if the top candidate has 82% preference, as the Nov 2021 Laylo survey reported, it's game over.

Ahem! Marcos is not dominating the presidential race per se because there is no election yet.  What’s dominating the news right now are the discussions on the truthfulness of his claims in his public resume and that other issue on the disqualification complaint against him. As for the surveys, he MAYBE leading at the moment depending on who is issuing the numbers. Fact is these numbers can be skewed depending on so many factors.  Remember the last presidential election, wasn’t it Grace Poe who was leading all contenders but came up a miserable 3rd or 4th when the last ballot was counted.  I’ve been through so many presidents now and I can speak based on my lifelong experiences (born early 60s).  I will not argue with you on what you think you know and understand about life during the Marcos regime. All I can say is it not a pleasant life during that time.

Hanggang ngayon nasa denial stage pa rin kayo.

Voters' preference for BBM rose from 20% to 40% by the time he filed his candidacy. Then up again to 50% after the BBM-Sara tandem was announced.

Recently, informal surveys shows the effects of BBM-Sara caravans and awareness sorties bringing preference to at least 60%.

Pulse-Asia and SWS seem to be holding back their December survey results. Survey analysts speculate it could be because they have to re-validate the results because pro-BBM preference is too high at more than 70% while Leni's numbers went from 20% down to 10% !!!

    Dear Digong,

Thanks for pre-empting the alleged cocaine issue.

Now, the opposition cannot use it anymore in their future mud-slinging propaganda.

But hey, thanks as usual for admitting, by omission, that you have no response to anything else I wrote in that post.

Why are we even including Bangui wind farm as BBM achievement when its a private property. How do we expect him to takeover all utilities current owned privately when this crowned achievement is Ayala owned? Even the Malampaya is currently being taken over by Uy during the current administration.

Its like Belmonte family including Trinoma and other private properties built in QC as their achievements.

Again vlogs are not a valid reference. Anyone can create vlogs but not everyone can have peer reviewed documents published.

Imagine vlogger focuses on history and history revisionisms becomes the basis of truth in the future, just release a vlogs here and there and Gloria will be the next Mother Theresa.

It is the government that spearheads projects that private investors cannot take on without government help and incentives. This is true especially for renewable power projects, telecoms, irrigation, provincial and municipal roads, airports, seaports, etc...

The wind farm in Bangui was spearheaded by the Ilocos provincial government when BBM was the governor. They coordinated the feasibility studies, right-of-ways, permits, environmental compliance certificates, even up to international financing and passing enabling laws to push the project through. Just as Duterte can claim credit for the Build!Build!Build! infrastructure program, BBM can rightfully claim credit for initiating the windfarm project, as well as the agro-industrial development programs of Ilocos during his terms as Vice Governor and Governor.
