This is a learning experience daw, sabi ni Panlilio. Eh ang tagal na sa basketball nitong sina Choo choo Reyes, Wheechico, et al and those players, hanggang ngayon nasa learning experience stage pa din sila. Either all of them are slow learners or really have violence and stupidity genes ingrained in their DNAs.

right now I'm gravitating towards South Americans - malbecs and carmeneres from Chile.
I think I've had it with Australian reds. Could they be heavily-laced with sulphites? Whenever I drink an Aussie, a terrible headache and dark moods envelop me. Heavily-processed? I really don't know.
So I'm now dallying with Bordeaux and those heavies from south of the border.
But the best red I've had of late is Six Hats, from South Africa, bought from M&S. Just enough buzz, no headache, no lunar swings. Just perfect.

Aside from the usual Chardonnay, I'm partial to Grenache Blanc's and Gewürztraminer. I think I can source Assyrtiko since my officemate is going home to Greece next month. We'll see how it goes.

I've just come across several quaint white wine grapes in my readings. We're all familiar of course with sauvignon blancs, semillons, chards, even verdelho and gruner veltliner, which has been mentioned here a long time ago. But there are others, more localized and not too well-known.
Malvasia fine and rabigato - from the Douro valley in Portugal and used for white port.
Bacchus - grown in the south of England but which originally came from Germany. Smells of nettles, hawthorne, and cow parsley, whatever they are lol! Tastes of crab apples and quince, again whatever they are. It is reportedly bony and nervy with acidity.
Aligote - Burgundy. Clean, sharp, invisible-tasting.
Vermentino - from Liguria in Italy. Also known as rolle in the south of France. Described as lively, herbaceous, and slightly bitter. Perfect with spaghetti and pesto.
Assyrtiko - from Santorini. Heavily minerallic, clean and sharp as an axe-blade.
Here's hoping that we get to have a bottle of each - where, when, how. lol!
