manny a. quito
Some singers have distinct vocal qualities or stamp their own unique interpretation on standard songs so that once you hear them you at once know who is singing without being told. To these group of vocal stylists belong Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole. Lesser known, but also quite excellent are Billy Eckstine, Johnny Hartman and Freddy Cole (younger brother of Nat King Cole). If you can find them, try listening to: My Foolish Heart - Billy EckstineImagination - Billy EckstineLush Life - Johnny HartmanIn The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning - Johnny HartmanFor All We Know - Freddy ColeSomewhere Along The Way - Freddy Cole Quote Link to comment

manny a. quito
Who can forget Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach's favorite singer for his compositions? You can relive those memories with this DVD: And Janis Ian of At Seventeen and Fly Too High fame? Get Jodie Brooke Wilson's Halfway To Paradise CD and you'll find her covers of "At Seventeen" plus Beverly Craven's "Promise Me." Jodie was a recent visitor to the Philippines to promote her album. Carly Simon has reincarnated as a very competent singer of torch and standard songs, witness the following. Quote Link to comment

grappelli
Ayos to!!! A thread for Oldies lovers. Syempre ako lalo na dahil I play in a band that have this type of songs in our repertoire. Pero sa akin Rock and Roll songs from the 50's and 60's ang favourite ko talaga. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Shadows, The Ventures at marami pang ibang rock and roll bands especially the Brit Band nung 60's. Newbie here. Ayos talaga. Saan kayo tumutogtog. D naman siguro sa joint nila RJ; medyo kakasawa na sila RJ. Sa Chef and Brewer every Thursday, okay doon. Quote Link to comment

Mr. Grabe
I collect 60's, 70's & 80's MP3 files. Even OPM oldies. It may sound baduy but they really bring back a lot of childhood memories. In fact, tawanan mga barkada ko whenever I play Eddie Peregrina & victor wood songs in the car. :upside: Kinikilig naman sila. :thumbsupsmiley: Anyway, I'm desperately looking for the song "20 MINUTES BEFORE TAKE OFF" by Dan Henry I think. It's OPM from the 70's. Does anybody have this? Quote Link to comment

BnF95
Stephanie de Monaco (Princess Stephanie of Monaco) had a couple of albums back in the '80s. Most of the songs weren't that good (the ones in English), but the ones in French were darned nice. Quote Link to comment
