Google
hehehe. hard to explain. pero you need to have balance too while in the water. dapat straight parati ang body mo to maintain bouyancy. Quote Link to comment
Headroom
Go to a swimming school - great skill to have especially considering the Philippines is a huge archipeligo of islands - water is everywhere. Swimming is not that hard to learn - the biggest hurdle to learning is about having confidence in the water. It'll also allow you to have a lot more fun at the beach. Quote Link to comment
Waterbearer
First things first, Don't be Afraid. Second, close your eyes while inside the pool and imagine yourself to be as light as possible as if ethereal ka.....in short kungbaga patay ka by this time yung buong body mo dapat nakalutang. From there, mag-aral kang lumangoy aso.....pwede na yun for a start. Quote Link to comment
Headroom
A good way to begin and get over the fear of having your head in water is to hold onto the edge of a pool with your hands, body out straight, face in the water and kicking you legs. Breathe to the left and right side when you need to. All practical points - you swim with your face in the water, a lot of swimming revolves around the kicking and you need to breathe to the side for freestyle. Quote Link to comment
ponx_99
They're right first thing is to remove that fear then everything else will follow. Swimming is easy to learn and fun at that too. Was a swimmer once for our school and drooled over the hot babes in their swim attire. Unisex kasi shower room namin before kaya panalo. Quote Link to comment
evilmist
I want to learn how to swim too. Quote Link to comment
vendorboyz
kahit po ako di rin marunong mag swim, but marunong ako sumisid... some of my friends find that weird since how come I don't know how to swim e marunong naman daw ako sumisid. sabi ko, madali lang lumubog.. heheheh but seriously, i guess the reason why i never got to learn how to swim was because I have this thing about water getting inside my ear. but i would love to learn how din... r_m5
hold on the edge of the pool or try using a floating device tapos un paa mo lang muna ung gamitin mo...kelangan alternate lang sila....tapos pag ok na un kamay naman...good luck... Quote Link to comment
yokwe
You learn how to swim the same way you learn learning how to bike. You have to earn your bruises. Same way, dapat maranasan mo iyong muntik ka nang malunod. Pag naranasan mo na iyon, at nakaahon ka, then alam mo marunong ka nang lumangoy. As in everthing else in life: How do we learn? We learn through pain. Quote Link to comment

We learn through pain. You don't actually have to experience that dahil baka walang makakita sayo, matigok ka hehehe. You need to grasp for air if you want to float in the water. try mo muna sa pool side ka magstroke ... don't get nervous ... relax, do the basic swimming stroke ... the dog paddle, raise your head, lie your chest while you are moving your arms and legs alternately. beachlover
ironic, i love the beach so much but i really don't know how to swim it's not that i'm scared, i just don't know the proper breathing techniques coz i've never had swimming lessons. i do know how to float and sometimes nakaka-sisid din ako. I want to enroll in a swimming class but I just keep putting it off. Quote Link to comment
bakedzitiguy
i learned to swim when my dad pushed me into a pool. was about 10 y/o then Quote Link to comment
cereal.killer.
if you really want to learn go straight for the swim school, it doesnt really cost that much anmore, marming ng lozada training grounds. :thumbsupsmiley: give it a coupla weeks and you'd be swimming with the fish in no time. dedbol
hmmm...try to imagine that everyone else in the pool are naked...that might get you started Quote Link to comment
Waterbearer
I learned to swim when i pushed myself in a pool....Grade 4 ata ako nun..... I nearly drowned.....from then on, every Saturdays and Sunday....pupunta ako sa pool sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium....tapos papanoorin ko kung paano lumangoy ang mga tao dun....i had to observe the way they flip their palms, the way they raise and dive their arms in and out of the water......yung symmetry ng legs....yung force ng feet......yung pagsway nila to the left then to the right........tapos ilulubog ko ang ulo ko sa ilalim para makita ko kung asan at pano ang porma ng body nila while doing the strokes..... I mimic every move they made....kahit pagtawanan ako ng mga lifeguards nuon.....Years passed and after months of research and hands-on practice...... they laugh at me no more.....I guess i owe it a lot sa mga nagturo sa akin na mga senior citizen......I do not claim to be good....but at least I know how to swim. Headroom
Its a skill that everyone should learn not just for the fun of it but because it may save your life. When you see these unfortunate accidents where ferries sink etc. many of the people who die drown because they can't swim. Last weekend I went to a lake with some friends of mine - we took a small boat out to a pontoon in the middle - I had more fun than anyone cause I dived into the water and splashed around. Noone else would get into the water cause they couldn't swim. Quote Link to comment
feverish
I want to learn to swim but I'm afraid of the idea that my toes can't touch anything... hehehehe.. weird. I also wear specs which makes me feel doubly scared coz I have this idea that I might go blind and that I can't open my eyes at all... I better buy goggles... Quote Link to comment
Headroom
So anybody from this thread that couldn't swim taken the plunge and started to learn?? Have a go!! Quote Link to comment

hardtohandle
Saan ka ba nag-aaral? Kung may pool sa school nyo, kunin mong PE swimming, that would be a good start... Kung working ka naman na... enroll in a swimming class. But be wary of swimming pools, pwede kang magkaroon ng ear infection dyan... Quote Link to comment
Lilyblue
i duno how to swim din may chance pa ba to learn how to ... kahit na am kinda old na Quote Link to comment
Headroom
But be wary of swimming pools, pwede kang magkaroon ng ear infection dyan... You should have no problems with the pools if they have been properly chlorinated and cleaned. You can also try wearing a swimming cap that covers your ears - keeps the water out and also keeps your body streamlined as your hair is not in the water and getting in the way. Quote Link to comment
newbiewankenobe
if you really want to learn the fast and the right way kelangan mo talaga ng swim instructor na alam ang ginagawa nya. ang tip ko naman sa mga ndi marunong magswim kelangan relax lang, the more na naging tense ang body mo the more na lulubog ka. dickie_doug
Hi Folks, The best way to learn how to swim is to enroll in a swimming school. You will be taught how to float, breath, kick and arm swing. The basic course includes freestyle and threading. Cheers Quote Link to comment
