mark_pogi
ROTC = Human Shield we don't even have enough firearms to arm the police, what more soldiers?tumpak.... and abusive officers would have their way again if this is installed again. :thumbsdownsmiley: :thumbsdownsmiley: Quote Link to comment
AESOP
Sana nagkaron ng iba pang program o syllabus para dun like survival training, self defense, basic weaponhandling like rifle assembly at practice shooting kung pwede nga pati first aid. Quote Link to comment
QAZAR
There's nothing wrong with a little bit of military training to instill discipline to the Filipino youth. The problem perhaps is the implementation of the program in all. Some officers see this as financial oppurtunity. The Military program itself is faulty. I mean did any of us do anything good in ROTC aside from basking in the sun and marching endless not knowing which is left or right. In other countries, their program involves some community assistance as well as job oppurtunities. For all we know the ineffectivess of our ROTC program may just reflect the Ineffectiveness of the Philippine Military or worse the Filipino himself as a person. Quote Link to comment

This is so true....Kasi dapat may program talaga hindi puro martsa lang left and right. Sad to say mali yung foundation... Ok sanang maging forging ng discipline to kung mababago nila yung system... Quote Link to comment

Gawin na lang mandatory 6 months to 1 year training as reserve soldier like they use in Israel and Singapore. Citizen Army. Quote Link to comment
geogram9
Dapat lang na ibalik uli ang ROTC in fairness to people like me who suffered countless hours of hard training under the heat of the sun during my college days.Just to separate the men from the boys ika nga. King`Of`Klubbs
Para sa 'kin, maganda sana ang ROTC. Agree ako sa real purpose and objective ng ROTC which is "military preparedness." We have incompetent generals, commanders, and law enforcers. And then of course there are the cadet officers and the cadet themselves. And how can they instill discipline when they themselves don't have it? Sa mga cadets naman, they refuse to see the value of ROTC. Maybe it's not their fault, but then I think the student body can do something about it. I was an ROTC officer myself. And I'm proud to say that from where I came from, disiplinado ang mga officers. We police our own ranks. Pag may incompetent na officer candidate, either we train him hard or we kick him out. Siguro advantage na rin na karamihan sa student population (at cadet officers) eh may kaya sa buhay kaya hindi na kailangang mangurakot (I'm not saying there's a direct correlation between status in society and corruption tendencies). ROTC is very much like your fire extinguisher. You don't really need it and want to use it unless there's a fire. You just keep it there, ready and properly maintained, just in case. Quote Link to comment

crazykalbo
i was a student athlete before and in our school, athletes and the ROTC had issues. previously, student athletes were exempted from joining the ROTC and CAT. it was like that when i was in HS but it changed suddenly when i stepped into college. suddenly the people from our ROTC department wanted student athletes to join the regular students. we, the student athletes complained since it will take some of our training/practice time, especially during saturdays. the ROTC even taunted us athletes that we're just athletes because we wanted to escape from ROTC. they held this physical exam wherein we, athletes had to finish 12 rounds/laps of running in 30 minutes, do more than 60 push ups in 1 minute, 60 situps in 1 minute. this was considered as part of our midterm and final exams, aside from the usual military science they taught us. well, to be honest, these rotc officers and their fat commandant have underestimated us. they challenged us, thinking that we cant do what they want. we all passed that stupid test they came up with since we train hard as athletes, compared to what these rotc sissies do, like march and stand idle under the sun. these rotc officers act like gods during rotc but end up as losers when rotc sessions are over. they like to power trip during rotc classes and in our school, they even played with the grades of student athletes who undergo rotc. so much for military discipline.. im not impressed on how these officers act. more like corrupt officials who like to power trip but not much on the discipline... so i'd say.. the heck with ROTC! sorry, but im being biased based on my personal experience.... hating ROTC isnt gay. there's a lot of brave men out there who arent soldiers or men in uniform. brave men are those who take responsibility for their actions and are aware of the consequences of the actions they do. brave men are those who sacrifice for the good of their family and friends. likewise, disciple can be learned even outside the barbaric military environment... if there's a die-hard ROTC fanatic here, i dont care what you say. i just said my piece and i dont want yours. hehe! KielDaMan
The sad thing is sa kakareklamo nating mga lalake sa ROTC dati, nadamay tuloy ang mga babae when the 2-year ROTC program for males was replaced with the 1-year NSTP for males/females... Quote Link to comment
Justin Nicholas
I don't see any problems with ROTC being mandatory again. I just wish that the officials in charge of the cadets would be more considerate towards weak people. For example, you can't compel someone withasthma to take up ROTC without supervision of a doctor. cool_as_ice
finished ROTC in 236th naval division.. i guess the ROTC in our school is good.. kasi talagang sundalo ang nagsusupervised (fit at hinde matabang officers)we had our own fellow batchmates we respected our officers during saturday training but they are our friends during school days sa tingin ko depende sa humahawak ng ROTC sa school.. malas nyo lang bulok na opisyal ang namumuno..hehehe Quote Link to comment
scalpelmd
it would be better to have ROTC back than have that crappy NSTP!!! :thumbsdownsmiley: Quote Link to comment

D.
