RaLink Wireless 802.11g PCI Adapter

2 x XFX nVidia Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x 16 (SLi Bridge)

Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 (Hey, I'm a film student!)

This rig should be good for the next two years. I'm tired of over-clocking my rig and I toasted my last one, so I should be good for a looong time.

This is bare compared to my old rig: This one.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/azrach187/side1.jpg

I turned off the annoying "pulsating light."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/azrach187/flshrig1.jpg

It was too big to fit in the desk, so it has be sideways.

I converted an old walk-in closet to my game room/film editing room.

Ok before I suggest something, may I know how much is you're budget for your rig? Kasi kung malaki budget mo, suggest ko na ang NVidia GeForce 7900GTX. It is PhP29,800 I think in PC Corner and PC Express. It can play any game on max settings. And also prepares you in case you want to upgrade your GFX in the future since GeForce 8 series is coming. Kung Athlon64 rin lang naman kung afford mo e yung Athlon 64 4000+ 2.4Ghz San Diego Core 1mb cache.

Just like I said, state mo muna budget mo and I'll try to help you out the best I can.

Other people who wish to help our builders, please post here ^_^

If you're planning to buy things locally, I suggest changing some specs :D

Instead of MSI, you can use Epox 9NPA+ Ultra, cheaper and basically the same :D I have the 9NPA+ Version here (Nf4 Vanilla) but it clocks well :D

AMD64 3000+ is fine :D

Good choice for the Hdd :D The 160gb 7200.9 has only one platter, thus, seek time is shortened a bit :D Its also good if you plan to go for Raid w/ the 160gb 7200.9 :D

If you plan to buy a memory module locally, I can suggest some few things :D

1. Twinmos 2x512mb DDR400: The reason is that this one is uber cheap :D Considering that stores sell this around 4k or less :D It also runs @ 2.5-3-3-8, tighter compared to Geil's 2.5-4-4-8 :D Plus, if you're lucky, you might get the AA4T, which uses the Winbond chips, good for overclocking :D

2. PQI/PH 2x512mb DDR400 Value Select: well, I also recommend this one, only that you need to keep an eye on the chips :D Some PQI/PH chips uses brainpower PCB (B6xxxxxx) which is written at the top right corner of the PCB. The one with Brainpower PCBs usually has the Hynix Chips which clocks higher w/ lax timings, or if you don't overclock, sell it asap, as these are hot items for overclockers with a budget :D

The DVDRW is good :D NEC has been a reliable brand over the years :D But you can also consider Plextor :D Expensive, but really really worth it :D The bios updates are frequent, and since these updates increases the number of compatible discs for your DVDRW, its a good choice :D

If you plan to play games at a budget, go for 7900GT, since its cheap and performs really well. Right now, I don't recommend buying the uber high end stuffs, 7900GTX and X1900XTX, since the DX10 cards are on its way :D

Oh yeah, you forgot to get a decent PSU :D Get either a Silverstone Strider or an OCZ Powerstream :D If you want a cheap but high W psu, get a Forton, its around 700W and basically the same as the new OCZ GameXstream 700W, which has Quad Railings :D Actually, there has been reports saying that OCZ GameXstream is a rebadged Forton :D

Newegg is the ONLY recommended place to buy parts. Fast delivery and prompt technical support. I've built three PC using 80% of the parts bought from them.

Where do you live in CA?:D You can also go for SVC, although a bit more expensive, they also have great prices and support, and you can pick up the items at their office/warehouse in San jose, CA :D Save yourself some shipping and taxes :D

Before I forget, Here's another mobo for you :D One of the cheapest REAL overclocking mobo out there in the market :D Almost as good as DFI, but much much cheaper :D

Biostar Tforce4U 939

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813138270

Or you can stick to the normal line up of Biostar, or Epox too if you're planning to go for med. OC or no OC at all :D

Epox 9NPA+ Ultra

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813123236

And if you want to future proof you system, go for Asrock, it has a future AM2 socket 940 support :D Plus, this is 32x SLI (16-16) :D But this doesn't oc well, unless you're planning to volt mod it w/ a conductive ink :D

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813157087

For your mem, look for something with low timings, your Corsair is already good for the price since the CAS Latency is 2.5 compared to 3 in other Value mems :D

I suggest to go 7600GT why?:D

7600GT:

12 Pipelines

Core Clock: 560mhz

Mem Clock: 1400mhz (700mhz x 2)

Support for DX9, OpenGL 2, support for newer technology (Intellisample 4.0, CineFX 4.0 etc)

Power Consumption: Lower than 6800 series

Heat production: Lower than 6800 series

6800XT:

8 Pipelines

Core Clock: 350mhz

Mem Clock: 1000mhz

Support for DX9, OpenGL 1.5, support for older tech (Intellisample 3.0, etc :D)

Choose this one, since PNY is decent, and cheaper too :D This one also has a rebate, so I think this is a sweet choice :D

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814133150

You can also opt for Evga, but I had many bad experience w/ evga :D Go for BFG if you need the warranty (Oc ability is low though) while XFX for good oc :D
