bods1000
Yung mga na jackpot ko na ay yung Midnight Cowboy, Taxi Driver, Chariots of Fire, Tootsie, Around the World in 80 Days, Dog Day Afternoon, 12 Angry Men, In the Heat of the Night, King and I, Silver Streak, The Verdict, Blue Velvet, Carlito's Way, Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, To k*ll a Mockingbird, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest...at isang katerba pang mga classics. Mga iba pang classics hanap ko ay The Odd Couple, Missing, The Manchurian Candidate (with Frank Sinatra), The Omen (with Gregory Peck), The Remains of Day, A Fish Called Wanda, Ed Wood, The Marathon ("is it safe?") Man. May katotohanan pala yung kasabihan : "They don't make it the way they used to". sayang yung Midnight Cowboy ah - nagkaron na pala. Most of the others you mentioned meron na din ako, and yes, the trick everywhere (MCS, Metrowalk, Quiapo) is to just sift through all the discs there until you find some gem. Mahirap pero it's all worth it if after going through several bins and stalls, you chance upon a DELIVERANCE, or a MULHOLLAND DRIVE, or a SERPICO...Ang nakakatawa pag nandun ako tatawagin ako ng mga tindero - "Sir heto mga bago". Or everytime I go to my sukis in MCS or Metro, I would ask, "Meron bang bagong luma?" Quote Link to comment

The pirated Blue-ray discs na kumakalat ngayon have some old movies. Got 2001, enter the dragon, and clockwork orange. Pero chambahan nga. Quote Link to comment
16track
I know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago I was just breezing through some shops when I spotted several old movies. It was a nice haul as I went home with my own copy of "SEVEN SAMURAI", a few John Wayne classics such as The Cowboys, Green Beret and Rio Grande and the Humphrey Bogart film Casa Blanca. Still waiting for a copy of The Magnificent Seven and the old Zatoichi or Watari movies. Another one I'm on the look out for is the SAMURAI series. Again, they are not from the 70's but I got to know these movies in the decade. sayang yung Midnight Cowboy ah - nagkaron na pala. gadalej
why not instead na cd exchange tayo, mag cd/dvd/blue ray shopping eb tayo? we all look for the same movies din naman, lets look for them together. choose either quiapo, metrowalk or mcs tayo. i would suggest quiapo for the sheer number of shops we can comb. boomouse
trivia--who said and where can you se this famous 70's slogan?: " ang umaayaw ay hindi nagwawagi, ang nagwawagi ay hindi umaayaw." :thumbsupsmiley: The slogan of the Manuel Uy PCSO Sweepstakes sales dealership Quote Link to comment
boomouse
put a tiger in your tank was a slogan by esso, i think. kumusta na pareng bods? i got a couple of led zep dvds but have yet to watch them. about strawdogs, i remember the scene when the woman thew a kettle of bioling water to the faceof one of the villains! "Put a Tiger in Your Tank" was a 60s slogan not 70s. Remember, ESSO, the Standard Vacuum Oil Company was shutdown by Martial Law in 1972 and Petron was built from the government-seized leftovers. I distinctly remember the slogan because I literally thought that it was the reason why my dad's old Buick Roadmaster sounded the way it did at the time. I too remember Susan George in Straw Dogs but only after the Thunderbird car her husband owned. Quote Link to comment
16track
Bro: Saan na Asrtovision yan? Tagal ko nang hanap Magnificent 7. BTW, saw you on TV again the other night-- showing our exhibits uli.. Can you believe that? Kinuha ko nga yung Rocky, Planet of the Apes, The Killing Fields! Maraming mahilig sa Kurosawa pala dito...last napanuod ko ay yung "Ikiru"....ginaya ng About Schmidt ni Jack Nicholson. The thing with 70's films, is the absence of technological gimmicks and just relies on plain good old story telling. Sabi nga madalas, the fear of the unknown. Hardly see that nowadays, feeling ko lang na revive medyo ni M. Night Shyamalan's earlier works. Quote Link to comment

Hehehe. Hinahanap ko yung Blow Up, If, Marathon Man, Gone in 60 Seconds (yung original), siempre yung Bullitt, The Great Escape, The French Connection, The Poseidon Adventure, Soylent Green, yung mga Woody Allen movies, etc. Yung Esso station namin noon sa Malabon naging Petron. Hehehe. DVD EB na tayo tomorrow or Friday. Quote Link to comment
