Tawag namin banana type. Madaling linisin. K40 is used in CB radios. Buti na lang insured kaya nang maka - claim sa insurance I bought the better sound -- KP 5000 yata model (not sure) with separate amplifier. Lalim ng bass. I matched it with woofers TSW-3 yata with TS T3 tweeters yata tapos coax sa gilid. Hindi ako nahilig sa CB. Quote Link to comment
storm
A slight corection, pareng slider. The first Mcdo was on Morayta near Recto. Hi to all the 70s people. Been very busy these past three weeks writing stuff. Congrats to the Bedans for the 3-peat. Attended a very muddy bonfire last Wednesday at ADMU to celebrate the double championship. It seems many of SBC's high school players (Casio, Revilla, etc.) are highly prized recruits of ADMU and DLSU. Same with Baste (Buenafe, Salamat, etc.). Only goes to show that their HS basketball programs are good. Am sad though that UP, my college alma mater, did not do too well this year. I thik it will take another trio of Paras, Magsanoc and Altamirano to do the trick. Hope we'll all see each other for an EB soon! Kelan pre? Samantalahin natin hanggat centennial year natin. Were you there during the bonfire? If I knew, sana sumama ko sa mga anak ko who were there too hehehe... Balita nga another Baste high school jewel, Bringas is being lured over to the Ateneo. Kawawa naman yung San Sebastian. Buenafe did not play for them in college, tapos baka si Bringas pa, who is reportedly a 6'6 behemoth.. Gone are the glory days of San Sebastian. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, pero I remember San Sebastian having some sort of mini-dynasty way back in the 70's or 80's. They won their first title in '73 behind a team led by Benjie Cleofas, younger brother of Joy Cleofas who played for Ateneo a few years earlier and later for Yco in the MICAA alongside my other favorites Freddie Webb and Mike Bilbao. In the 80's, the (Golden) Stags had a 5-peat at around the same time as UST (Glowing Goldies) was having their 4-peat. We call these the "Golden" years in collegiate basketball. Quote Link to comment

As far as I can remember, ang pinaka-astig na brand ng mags noon ay yung Campagniolo although dito rin unang sumikat ang Rota Italia for the cheaper version. The standard size for those banana type mags was R13. Can you imagine how small they are by today's standards? Actually, bihira noon ang R15. Ngayon R15 comes as stock. Kids would prefer R17. Naririnig ko na rin yung Cerwin Vega nung araw from my older cousins pero I don't know anyone who owns one. Proline equalizer, yes. I don't think Jensen and Proline are still around today. Pioneer is now considered "basic" and one of the cheaper brands. Made in India, not Japan. Quote Link to comment

Buenafe did not play for them in college, tapos baka si Bringas pa, who is reportedly a 6'6 behemoth.. I think I had a glimpse of Bringas when I caught the tail end of Baste vs Letran game1 Jrs. indeed he is a behemoth and I think he is more than 6'6" pa yata! BUT, and this is a big but, he's as thin as a reed. A stiff wind would blow him over! Think of a local Manute Bol and that's it. With the prevalence of much beefier foreign players in both leagues, I doubt if this guy will be effective at least in his rookie year. He could be a Ballesteros in a few years though. Pareng Bods...long time no see! Quote Link to comment

Fast forward a little bit to the early 80's and Compomotive 3-pc wheels naman nauso. Quote Link to comment
Magaling
Before the advent of tire black, there was only Armor All...even for the tires, and mud guards and the fender interiors... yep, dahan dahan pag basa ang kalye.... and avoid those intersections where street kids might apporach your car to leave finger marks... My first car was a '78 Corona... fire engine red, white seat covers, wood Luisi steering wheel with matching wooden shift knob, Pioneer HU (forgot the model), Dai-ichi speakers and NO tint.... Yes, no tint but that didn't mean it wasn't ready for action :goatee: Which reminds me...in those days, airconditioning didn't always come with the car. You've got to have it installed in shops like Mark IV, Nippon Denso, etc. Quote Link to comment
storm
Astig. Binayad sa father ko kapalit ng crudo. May oil crisis noon and we had a Petron gasoline station then. There was a time pa na somebody paid my mom a rolex in exchange for gasoline or diesel. Marami kasing factories in Malabon. Hawig dito yung bike kaya lang mine was white. http://www.campyonly.com/images/mystuff/2006/cinelli-red/cinelli_side.jpg The first car I brought to school in college was a VW beetle 1302S. Stock nya ay R15 na. When we changed the tires, pinalitan ko ng 14" na mags tsaka Bridgetone steel belted radial. Walang aircon noon pero ok lang. I used that car for 11 years until I got married. I returned it to my parents when we bought our first car in 1989 - an SKD corolla 1.3. Edited October 7, 2008 by storm Quote Link to comment

storm
I remember the Wide Ovals! Bagay na bagay sa Mini-Lites. E yung radial T/A, bagay sa american racing. hehehe. Toyota corona, ford cortina, Datsun 180B or colt galant na mabibili mo nun for 40-50k pero mahirap pa ang pera nun. Konti pa lang bumibili ng cars. Yung Holden Torana, ford escort, isuzu gemini, dodge colt and corolla sl wala pang 30k. In 1972, most of the small japanese cars were pegged below 15k pero hindi type ng mga Pinoy. Quote Link to comment

Yung built in although more pleasing aesthetically, mahina ang buga ng lamig! Walang cellphone kaya hanap trenta sentimos at pulang telepono. Swerte kung gumagana. Tawag ka sa "haybols" ng barkada, hoping they would be there. Lintik, kaka-alis lang daw! Hirap mag organize ng impromptu na lakad !! Quote Link to comment

I've always dreamt of owning a Karmann Ghia. O kaya an Austin Mini (I almost did earlier this year). When I was in college (engineering school), I had the chance to overhaul a 1300 VW Beetle engine. Just don't ask me to do it again. Baka lalo lang masira. Hahaha. :upside: Quote Link to comment
