bods1000
isabay na rin natin sa eb ng ibang groups that we are a part of para madamidami tayo. ...as in, dun sa groups na may mga girls??? Game! Kelan? hehehe Ang tagal na pala ng post mo pre, ngayon lang ako nakapag- login uli... bro, that's japeth aguilar you are referring to and he's now in division 2. according to some admu alumni, nonoy baclao was given a second look by norman black when he emphatically blocked aguilar in a game some years back...soon after he was recruited. yup, let's tentatively sked an eb perhaps sometime last week of october. suggested dates? place? will be in bacolod this week for the masskara. para di ot, and since we've been talking about mags, cb, pioneer kp models and other car accessories, anybody remember the old gas stations? esso, mobil, filoil, getty? yep I think Peter Aguilar is his dad - the former PBA player. Memory gap, memory gap heheheof course - those gasoline stations. "Got a tiger in your tank?" What I failed to get was Straw Dogs - nanghinayang ako kasi double disk eh mahal Quote Link to comment
bods1000
natuloy ba mga EB nyo???? For those interested, let me tell you that reruns of COMBAT, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, STAR TREK and TWILIGHT ZONE are all being shown on Planet Maxxx TV Channel 51 in Skycable. Dunno the exact days pero pinapalabas sila tuwing 130 ng hapon. So far I've caught episodes of Combat, Star Trek and Mission Impossibe. Brings me back to those good old days hehehehe...sarap manuod! Though the sets and costumes and gadgets in Star Trek are now all tacky and quite laughable, magaganda pa din ang episodes. Ditto with Mission Impossible - still very riveting! Quote Link to comment
sliderule
pare, nakabili ko nyan dun sa MCS. What I failed to get was Straw Dogs - nanghinayang ako kasi double disk eh mahal Meron na rin ako nun, tiniis ko yung double disc na presyo....yung 2nd disc ay puros documentary ng violence on screen kasi apparently parang ground breaking sa violence yung movie na yun at that time...pero siempre tame compared to todays standard. Nakaka asar yun binili kong Papillon. Quote Link to comment

jettison_last
paborito ko si Donny Osmond especially the duet Donny & Marie tandem, just as i like Michael Jackson back then. They had a tv show during the 70s, every Sunday sa GMA7, 7-8pm ataThe Donny and Marie show. Had a crush on Marie back then Quote Link to comment

That's also the reason why I had 2nd thoughts about buying Jean Luc Godard's BREATHLESS, pero binili ko na din dahil it's one of the great movies of all time. Really want to see that movie again.Ang hindi pa yata lumalabas yung MIDNIGHT COWBOW and those old Woody Allen films (ANNIE HALL, MANHATTAN, SLEEPERS, LOVE AND DEATH, TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN) at least sa MCS. Sa original meron na siguro, I'm not sure.. put a tiger in your tank was a slogan by esso, i think. kumusta na pareng bods? i got a couple of led zep dvds but have yet to watch them. about strawdogs, i remember the scene when the woman thew a kettle of bioling water to the faceof one of the villains! Yung mga na jackpot ko na ay yung Midnight Cowboy, Taxi Driver, Chariots of Fire, Tootsie, Around the World in 80 Days, Dog Day Afternoon, 12 Angry Men, In the Heat of the Night, King and I, Silver Streak, The Verdict, Blue Velvet, Carlito's Way, Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake, To k*ll a Mockingbird, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest...at isang katerba pang mga classics. Mga iba pang classics hanap ko ay The Odd Couple, Missing, The Manchurian Candidate (with Frank Sinatra), The Omen (with Gregory Peck), The Remains of Day, A Fish Called Wanda, Ed Wood, The Marathon ("is it safe?") Man. May katotohanan pala yung kasabihan : "They don't make it the way they used to". Edited November 9, 2008 by sliderule Quote Link to comment

Most of the others you mentioned meron na din ako, and yes, the trick everywhere (MCS, Metrowalk, Quiapo) is to just sift through all the discs there until you find some gem. Mahirap pero it's all worth it if after going through several bins and stalls, you chance upon a DELIVERANCE, or a MULHOLLAND DRIVE, or a SERPICO...Ang nakakatawa pag nandun ako tatawagin ako ng mga tindero - "Sir heto mga bago". Or everytime I go to my sukis in MCS or Metro, I would ask, "Meron bang bagong luma?" Quote Link to comment

16track
I know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago I was just breezing through some shops when I spotted several old movies. It was a nice haul as I went home with my own copy of "SEVEN SAMURAI", a few John Wayne classics such as The Cowboys, Green Beret and Rio Grande and the Humphrey Bogart film Casa Blanca. Still waiting for a copy of The Magnificent Seven and the old Zatoichi or Watari movies. Another one I'm on the look out for is the SAMURAI series. Again, they are not from the 70's but I got to know these movies in the decade. sayang yung Midnight Cowboy ah - nagkaron na pala. gadalej
why not instead na cd exchange tayo, mag cd/dvd/blue ray shopping eb tayo? we all look for the same movies din naman, lets look for them together. choose either quiapo, metrowalk or mcs tayo. i would suggest quiapo for the sheer number of shops we can comb. boomouse
trivia--who said and where can you se this famous 70's slogan?: " ang umaayaw ay hindi nagwawagi, ang nagwawagi ay hindi umaayaw." :thumbsupsmiley: The slogan of the Manuel Uy PCSO Sweepstakes sales dealership Quote Link to comment

"Put a Tiger in Your Tank" was a 60s slogan not 70s. Remember, ESSO, the Standard Vacuum Oil Company was shutdown by Martial Law in 1972 and Petron was built from the government-seized leftovers. I distinctly remember the slogan because I literally thought that it was the reason why my dad's old Buick Roadmaster sounded the way it did at the time. I too remember Susan George in Straw Dogs but only after the Thunderbird car her husband owned. Quote Link to comment

Can you believe that? Kinuha ko nga yung Rocky, Planet of the Apes, The Killing Fields! Maraming mahilig sa Kurosawa pala dito...last napanuod ko ay yung "Ikiru"....ginaya ng About Schmidt ni Jack Nicholson. The thing with 70's films, is the absence of technological gimmicks and just relies on plain good old story telling. Sabi nga madalas, the fear of the unknown. Hardly see that nowadays, feeling ko lang na revive medyo ni M. Night Shyamalan's earlier works. Quote Link to comment

Hehehe. Hinahanap ko yung Blow Up, If, Marathon Man, Gone in 60 Seconds (yung original), siempre yung Bullitt, The Great Escape, The French Connection, The Poseidon Adventure, Soylent Green, yung mga Woody Allen movies, etc. Yung Esso station namin noon sa Malabon naging Petron.
