What have You Learned Lately?

When some upsetting or distressing thing comes your way, don't let it shake your confidence in GOD's plan for your life, rather let it enhance HIS plan. :)

Finally, i realized what God means when He says "Wait."

He means, just go out and play. Don't cry when you stumble. Should your knees bleed go to the faucet and wash them clean. Oh, well, you may cry a little, but don't holler and curse the Heavens.

Don't fidget. Don't worry. I am cooking a great dinner for you.

And boy! Thank God, I have waited.

On Good and Evil

Kahlil Gibran

Of the good in you I can speak, but not of the evil.

For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst?

Verily when good is hungry it seeks food even in dark caves, and when it thirsts it drinks even of dead waters.

You are good when you are one with yourself.

Yet when you are not one with yourself you are not evil.

For a divided house is not a den of thieves; it is only a divided house.

And a ship without rudder may wander aimlessly among perilous isles yet sink not to the bottom.

You are good when you strive to give of yourself.

Yet you are not evil when you seek gain for yourself.

For when you strive for gain you are but a root that clings to the earth and sucks at her breast.

Surely the fruit cannot say to the root, "Be like me, ripe and full and ever giving of your abundance."

For to the fruit giving is a need, as receiving is a need to the root.

You are good when you are fully awake in your speech,

Yet you are not evil when you sleep while your tongue staggers without purpose.

And even stumbling speech may strengthen a weak tongue.

You are good when you walk to your goal firmly and with bold steps.

Yet you are not evil when you go thither limping.

Even those who limp go not backward. But you who are strong and swift, see that you do not limp before the lame, deeming it kindness.

You are good in countless ways, and you are not evil when you are not good,

You are only loitering and sluggard.

Pity that the stags cannot teach swiftness to the turtles.

In your longing for your giant self lies your goodness: and that longing is in all of you.

But in some of you that longing is a torrent rushing with might to the sea, carrying the secrets of the hillsides and the songs of the forest.

And in others it is a flat stream that loses itself in angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the shore.

But let not him who longs much say to him who longs little, "Wherefore are you slow and halting?"

For the truly good ask not the naked, "Where is your garment?" nor the houseless, "What has befallen your house?"

Whether you think you can, or can't.. you're right!... But it is good to have an "I CAN" attitude, then pursue excellence with all your ability...

It's All In The State Of Mind

Anonymous

If you think you are beaten, you are;

if you think you dare not, you don't;

if you'd like to win, but you think you can't

it's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost;

for out in the world we find

success begins with a fellow's will~

it's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are;

you've got to think high to rise.

You've just got to be sure of yourself

before you can win the prize.

Life's battles don't always go

to the stronger or faster man,

but sooner or later the one who wins

is the fellow who thinks he can.

i've learned what OPRAH said is true,

YOU CANT HAVE IT ALL, BUT YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

lately, my life's been really rough sailing too many bad things been happening to me all at once. when it rains it really pours :(

how i wish things will come 2 pass..

Finally, a controversial word of advice: Once in a while, take risks. I am not talking about gambling, doing things on a whim, or performing anything illegal. I mean taking "the road less traveled."

Taking risks always involves a lot of sacrifice. (You will know you made the right decision, when you pick the harder choice and your heart is at peace.) But as the hottest fires forge the strongest steel, hardships develop character.

I am keeping these things in mind when i begin with my own personal quest.

As someone dear once told me, "There are treasures that await you. Listen to your heart and pray to God. And if something is meant for you, then the universe will conspire to make it possible"

life is great, and so are we :mtc:

i got this in an email from a friend... i think this is quite fitting since we interact in a message board...

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to be held in high esteem because of his knowledge. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopherand said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"

"Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything I`d likeyou to pass a little test. It`s called the Triple Filter Test."

"Triple filter?"

"That`s right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you`re going to say.

That`s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth.

Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

"No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don`t really know if it`s true or not. Now let`s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?"

"No, on the contrary..."

"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but you`re not certain it`s true. You may still pass the test though, because there`s one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"

"No, not really."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"

This is why Socrates was a great philosopher & held in such high esteem.

Friends, use this triple filter each time you hear loose talk about any of your friends.

We teach little by what we say; we teach more by what we do; we teach most by what we are . .

one thing i hve learned lately is that..it pays to discover the freedom that laughing at myself brings. it does not mean i take my life and myself less seriously than others..it simply means being able to sit back and look at my imperfections and tell myself that crap happens to the best of us..then move on.i know for a fact that while i may have lost a few battles, i have not yet lost the war ;)

A collection.....

"There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!"

~~~
"When the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one, which has been opened for us."
~~~

"Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.

Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile."

~~~
"Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be,
because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do."
~~~

"May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong,

enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy."

~~~
"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way."
~~~

"The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past;

you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches."

~~~
"When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying."
