2. He doesn't have the power base - a nationwide network of supporters who can support his programs or defend him from his political enemies.
3. He doesn't have enough track record in the executive area. He spent too much time in the legislative.

He will step down IF he will be replaced by the likes of Bongbong Marcos or Chiz Escudero.

 

Since Leni Robredo, whom he labeled as weak and ineffective, is still his legal successor, he will NOT resign anytime soon.

I don’t think Duterte will resign even if BBM is the VP. It is just that he would prefer BBM to replace him if it came to that. The implications of this statement to Robredo and Cayetano must sting. Moreso with Cayetano since he was Duterte’s running mate.
