MODERATOR Alex_Corvis Posted November 4, 2015 MODERATOR Share Posted November 4, 2015 Ladies and Gentlemen, Pro and Anti Marcos!Post your Praises and Vitriol here for both the Worst and Best, most Hated and Loved Philippine President ever! To Start; What's interesting about APO is that he is a very polarizing figure. Pansinin nyo sa poll ng best and worst president. He wins in both categories. The whole world sees Stalin as a tyrant and one of the most evil men who ever existend. But remember under his rule, Russia became a superpower and became heavily industrialized. Even the Nazi's failed to invade Russia. To some Russians he is still considered as a hero. Marami sa mga ginawa nyang infrastructure to this day me pakinabang pa. Ngayon mga ginagawang kalsada ilang ulan lang bitak bitak na This is getting to be the de facto comment thread, reminiscent to that on the "sexcapades" section. Anyway, I agree with ED. Haters can only post articles which they can't elaborate on. Since they could not elaborate on it, I did so myself. The fact of the matter is Marcos has never been convicted of anything and he won the 1986 elections fair and square, otherwise, Cory Aquino would have ordered a recount to legitimize her presidency. TheSpirit
The thing is there is no Marcos in the slammer. That article is a mere viewpoint by a Marcos-hater. I agree with you sir Nathan. Raissa Robles has been a Marcos critic ever since. She's so blinded by the yellow media that she's very biased in everything she posts in her blog and on twitter. I've been a convert from a Ninoy Aquino fan to a loyal Marcos follower. I've also done research after research and it only brings out more truth and convincing evidence that they're victims of massive propaganda by their enemies both in the Philippines and abroad especially the US c/o the CIA. wolflove_bigdawg
Building of infrastructures, the economy, the military, etc. are part and parcel of being a President. 1 Quote Link to comment

Common sense. Quote Link to comment
idecris
Philippines was already number 2 to Japan during Diosdado Macapagal's term (probably even before). You can actually say the economy declined during the Marcos regime. From #2 to "Sick Man of Asia". Minana niya ng #2, iniwanan niyang lumpo. Quote Link to comment
TheSpirit
Most would've even believe that Marcos built most of our network of highways within a span of 2 years only. Even the documentary Batas Militar that's being shown every year to us as students tells that fact. In his 1st term, he has done a lot of things for the country than any President has done in their first terms that's why most Filipinos voted for him for the second time. He also instilled disciplined and nationhood within the country in trying to put the country on the world map. Quote Link to comment
idecris
I believe I asked this on the "best president" thread and no Marcos-hating poster could answer this. 1965-1969, 1969-1972, 1972-1981, 1981-1986. Meron nga ba? Ramon Magsaysay. Diosdado Macapagal. Wala akong bilib sa mga modern presidents. Sure may nagawa si Marcos pero it was not without damage. Over priced projects resulting in foreign debt that we are still CURRENTLY paying. So thank you Marcos at andami mong ginawang overpriced projects na hanggang ngayon ay binabayaran namin.
Overpriced? Was there a case against Marcos or, perhaps, a paper trail that says it is overpriced? What is the benchmark for you to say that his projects were overpriced? Obviously he controlled the "audit trail". Well the Bataan Nuclear power plant for one, was not built to spec. It was UNDER spec so the actual cost will be so much below the budgeted cost. Difference between budgeted cost and actual cost = kickbacks. The late Fr. Scmitt SJ from Ateneo once had a former student leading the construction of the BNP. That same former student was appalled with the under specification construction and was telling this to Fr. Schmitt. Nagsusumbong. Eventually that guy quit. So we ended up with a nuclear power plant that was not built to spec. Can you imagine lighting up such a thing? Boom! Quote Link to comment
idecris
I understand people want to look up to a former leader. But please, pwede ba si Ramon Magsaysay (tunay na makamasa at walang napabalitang korupsyon) or si Diosdado Macapagal (genuine poor boy from Lubao, bar topnotcher din)? Even the Philippine's own polymath, Jose Rizal. Quote Link to comment
idecris
So there is no paper trail and he told Fr. Schimitt about it without a shred of evidence. Hearsay. Myth. Did you read the part that the regime controlled the "audit trail"? Quote Link to comment
haroots2
There is no doubt that Marcos had many accomplishments. Our greatest mistakes is voting for someone lesser than Marcos after his regime.During Martial Law, marami siyang nagawang projects, but he could've done better without Martial Law. Those era is the industrialization boom worldwide and we were left behind by our asian neighbors simply because we had no help from the private sectors. Many were afraid in investing and some are sequestered during Martial Law/.Another issue is there are many lives lost and families destroyed during this time thats why there are still haters of Marcos. Ang hirap kasi sa iba is being so blinded to a person that you won't admit his mistakes and only his accomplishments. There are many criminals that are not convicted because of technicalities but that doesn't mean he did not commit those crimes. Marcos have many intelligent people around him to do a perfect crimes like he did without being proven to any court. 1 Quote Link to comment
rooster69ph
Quote Link to comment
Mango Man
Agree. Marcos was a good president during his first time. The economy did grow under the early years of his watch. That is not in dispute. But things changed during the second term onwards, for the worse. BNPP, Imelda's shopping sprees and extravagance. Fake medals as war hero. Martial Law and the abuses. Etc. etc. So at the end of the day, does the bad outweigh the good? I would have to say Yes. Quote Link to comment
