HateEternal
If we're talking about the mainstream music I'd agree especially here in the Philippines. Good thing there are a lot of excellent artists in the underground, the sad thing though is most bars catering to the underground scene are closing one by one. 2 Quote Link to comment
Initial-D
today's OPM are mostly garbage... Quote Link to comment
MODERATOR Alex_Corvis Posted June 10, 2015 MODERATOR Share Posted June 10, 2015 Kanya kanyang trip lang. A generation ago, parents natin, lola natin thinks OUR music (70's-90's) are garbage.Yung mga bata ngayon, 20-30 years from now mag rereklamo din na music NOW is better. Quote Link to comment
Edmund Dantes
Our parents din naman probably said the same thing the day we started listening to to whatever music was popular then. IMO popular music comes and goes like fads do. But real artistry will stand the test of time. Think about guys like The beatles, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury with his band Queen. Or kung satin yung Eraserheads and Francis Magalona. These are people whose music is defined by artistry. They made sounds not only pleasing to the ears, but distinctly theirs. Thus you can keep listening to their music 10 20 or 100 years from now. Yung mga pop groups nung late 90s mabilis talagang nalaos, kasi hindi naman sila artist. Produkto lang sila ng mga record labels na ginawa for the music video era. Kaya nung tumanda na sila, nawalan na din sila ng followers. I am not saying they do not have talent. Its just that their music is only appealing to the people at that particular time. Quote Link to comment
C.Unicron
Part of growing old? Siguro... Well, there are still some skilled artist out there, sadly di lang sila nabibigyan ng chance by the labels. Minsan nakikinig rin naman ako ng mga new tracks from time to time, you just have to give'em a try. But then again, meron paring mga tracks na parang na-recycle lang. Some "artist" lack creativity and originality. Pero iba parin talaga ang old school and classic tunes. They never fail! Quote Link to comment
jasonkalibre
Today's music is all about your familiarity. If you are familiar like a celebrity plus other celebrities' promotion, you'll definitely and easily get certified as a platinum seller. Quote Link to comment
Zykco
mostly.. pro d lahat.. may point si sir alex.. yung rin nasa isip ko habang pinopost to.. Quote Link to comment
Il pirata
I guess it's all relative. I can still hear my dad deploring the music that came out of my room. I can imagine me complaining about what my daughters will listen to when they come of age. But I feel that there's still some stuff out there that comes out that is still provocative, deep and well-written. They might be harder to find now, but they're still around d and still being churned out, albeit in smaller quantities I guess. Hehehehehe. Quote Link to comment
MsDebauchery
There's a lot of really good "new" music out there. Turn the radio off on a slow Sunday afternoon and get on one of those music streaming apps. Your mind will get blown! Quote Link to comment
Intuition
frankly, i like a lot of crap pop music now compared to the crap pop music they played in the 80's ... i mean, if you miss the 80's or for some reason, think it was a great era, you just need to go to a probinsya karaoke joint to realize how terrible it really was. sam_morris01
Yun din sinabi ng mga lolo at lola natin sa generation ng mga magulang natin... yun din sinabi ng mga magulang natin sa generation natin... yun naman ang sinasabi natin sa generation ng mga bata ngayon... and so on and so forth... sa tingin ko cycle lang cya... vitreo
How to look for decent music today: Turn off the radio, TV etc. Of course, mainstream music is s@%t coz they're just the same garbage you hear everyday. There are so many great artists out there today, look for them.If you're bitching about today's music being garbage, then you're no different from the masses na naghihintay ispoonfeed ng next pop song. Konting effort lang Quote Link to comment
