Day Watch:

Featuring the cinematic vision of cutting-edge Director/Writer Timur Bekmambetov, "Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)" is the second installment of a trilogy based on the best-selling sci-fi novels of Sergei Lukyanenko entitled "Night Watch," "Day Watch" and "Dusk Watch." A dazzling mix of state-of-the-art visual effects, amazing action sequences, and nail-biting horror, when "Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)" was released in its native Russia in July 2004, it became an instant smash hit breaking all film gross records in post-Soviet history. Set in contemporary Moscow, "Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)" revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides.

Mirrors:

Paula Patton has signed on to star opposite Kiefer Sutherland in Mirrors, the new thriller from Alexandre Aja to be released by 20th Century Fox. The story centers on a cop-turned-department store security guard who discovers that there is something evil living inside the store's old mirrors. He traces haunted occurrences back to the building being a hospital and a schizophrenic patient's evil spirit trapped in a mirrored room. Patton will play Sutherland's soon-to-be ex-wife, a coroner with the New York Medical Examiner's Office.

Batman: The Dark Knight

The rumor currently making the rounds is that Sarah Michelle Gellar may be in the Batman sequel THE DARK KNIGHT. Speculation then immediately arose that she'd play the Joker's lover and accomplice Harley Quinn, an acrobatic Arkham Asylum therapist who goes ga-ga for the grinning psycho and dons a jester costume to assist in his crimes. The Harley Quinn character first appeared on the outstanding animated Batman series and was then transitioned into the ongoing comics, much like Detective Renee Montoya, who we also hear might make an appearance in the new movie.

Speed Racer:

Susan Sarandon and John Goodman are in negotiations to play the parents of Emile Hirsch in "Speed Racer," the live-action version of the anime cartoon being directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski. Based on the classic 1960s series that was created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida and retooled for North American audiences, "Speed" follows the adventures of young race car driver, Speed (Hirsch), and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle Mach 5. The show revolved around Speed's family, and the Wachowskis are being selective about who they pick for those roles. Goodman is playing Pops, a race car owner and builder. Sarandon's character is the backbone of the family as well as the Mach 5 Go Racing Team.

Angels & Demons:

Although the rumor mill buzzed about who might direct the follow-up (with Da Vinci helmer Ron Howard appearing to be the likeliest candidate), reports that Hanks "has been officially locked up" for Angels & Demons. The scooper claims that Angels will net Hanks the "biggest salary ever paid to an actor in the history of Hollywood." The studio paid Da Vinci screenwriter Akiva Goldsman a whopping sum to reprise scripting duties on Angels, which, like Da Vinci, is based on a novel by Dan Brown.

The Forbidden Kingdom:

Lionsgate has boarded martial-arts actioner “The Forbidden Kingdom,” which pairs Jackie Chan and Jet Li for the first time on the bigscreen. Indie studio is planning a September 2008 domestic release. Director Rob Minkoff (”The Lion King,” “Stuart Little”) is set to begin lensing the pic in China on May 2 from a script by John Fusco. Action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping, who has worked on films including “The Matrix” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” is creating the fight sequences.

Saw IV:

The cast list for Lionsgate's Saw IV is growing extremely quick. This morning it was revealed that Lyriq Bent - who played Rigg in Saw III - is returning to action, while there's news last week that Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls) is starring. Tobin Bell is signed on for six Saw films, so we know he'll be back, but who's next?! Justin Louis has joined the cast of SAW IV. Louis is best known to us genre fans as Luis, Sarah Polley's husband, in the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. He can also be seen in SHOOTER, which is now in theaters.

The Mummy 3:

Universal has apparently been out searching for a lad to play the older version of Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz's son from the MUMMY films. If you remember back, the kid’s name is Alex O’ Connell, and Universal has allegedly found their man…or adolecent boy in the form of Alex Pettyfer. The character of Alex O’ Connell is supposed to be older now and ready to take over in his father’s footsteps. So the story of the next MUMMY film has that going for it along with the plot being set in ancient China where the Terra-Cotta Warriors will come into play. Jet Li is set to play the villain in the new movie.

Jurassic Park 4:

Laura Dern played one of the original Jurassic Park's main characters, but missed out on the second adventure and had only a minor appearance in Jurassic Park III. She may, however, be one of the key stars returning for the fourth tale in the series. According to rumors, Dern revealed she had spoken with producer Steven Spielberg over the phone and was being asked to join the cast for Jurassic Park IV.

Adam Sandler ("Click") and Kevin James ("Hitch") team as two straight guys who stumble down the aisle with the best of intentions in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Salt-of-the-earth widower Larry wants just one thing: to protect his family. His buddy Chuck also wants one thing: to enjoy the single life.

Grateful Chuck owes Larry for saving his life in a fire, and Larry calls in that favor big time when civic red tape prevents him from naming his own two kids as his life insurance beneficiaries. Forced to improvise as love-struck newlyweds, Chuck and Larry must now fumble through a hilarious charade of domestic bliss under one roof. After surviving their mandatory honeymoon and dodging the threat of exposure, the well-intentioned con men discover that sticking together in your time of need is what truly makes a family.

Iron Man:

Last week it was confirmed that Shaun Toub ("Crash") would indeed play evil nemesis The Mandarin and now comes word that Leslie Bibb ("Talladega Nights") is also joining the cast. Bibb, known best for her cheerleader role on TV's "Popular" a few years back, will play an as-yet unnamed "fast-talking reporter" who will doubtless cross paths with Robert Downey Jr.'s billionaire hero, Tony Stark.

Your first solid look at "Iron Man" himself and it's a good, clear character shot of the famed suit of armor.

A lonely waitress with a tragic past, Agnes rooms in a run-down motel, living in fear of her abusive, recently paroled ex-husband. But when Agnes begins a tentative romance with Peter, an eccentric, nervous drifter, she starts to feel hopeful again - until the first bugs arrive...

Probing the blurry lines between paranoia and nightmarish reality, Liongate's "Bug" is an intense, mind-bending psychological thriller in which nothing is quite as it seems. Directed by Academy Award® winner William Friedkin ("The French Connection," "The Exorcist") and adapted by Tracy Letts from his hit off-Broadway play, "Bug" stars Golden Globe nominee Ashley Judd, Harry Connick, Jr., Lynn Collins, Brían O'Byrne and Michael Shannon.

Recent gossip indicates that the voice of Galactus will be provided by an actor very well-known in science fiction circles. And that actor's name is... Laurence Fishburne.

The Mummy 3:

Brendan Fraser has scored a lucrative deal to return for a third "The Mummy" film, but Rachel Weisz is not coming back. Whilst amounts haven't been disclosed, Fraser is said to have scored a very hefty paycheck for the project which is set in China and introduces Jet Li as a villain. Weisz, who had been in talks, dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

Indiana Jones 4:

Shia LaBeouf IS in the fourth "Indiana Jones" film after all. In a press release on the official site, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas have officially announced that the "Disturbia" and "Transformers" star has joined the project. LaBeouf was first linked a few weeks back, but denied the rumours in subsequent interviews - claiming that nothing was happening as far as he was aware. In a quote on the release he says "I was hoping the rumors were true, so I couldn't be more thrilled."

Laurence Fishburne is Galactus in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

AICN reports that Laurence Fishburne will voice Galactus in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Fishburne’s powerful booming voice makes a perfect fit, atleast in theory. In the new film, the Fantastic Four will square off against the powerful Silver Surfer and the planet-eating Galactus. Galactus has consumed countless planets, resulting in the elimination of entire extra-terrestrial civilizations. The movie will hit theaters on June 15th 2007.

OFFICIAL: Shia LaBeouf cast in Indiana Jones 4

A couple weeks back it was highly rumored that Shia LaBeouf was in negotiations to be cast as Harrison Ford’s son in Indiana Jones. George Lucas denied it. Shia told us that he hasn’t even heard from the Indiana Jones people. It turns out - He lied.

“I was hoping the rumors were true, so I couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Shia. “To be cast in an ‘Indiana Jones’ film is like grabbing the brass ring and holding on for the ride. I’ll do my best to meet the high standards that Steven, George, and Harrison have set and I can’t wait to take that giant step in front of the Indy cameras.”

LaBeouf has been cast in the movie. The official announcement was made today, the same day LaBeouf’s movie Disturbia hits theaters. Coinicidence? We think not. Steven Spielberg was also involved in that other film and I’m sure Shia’s agent made a deal for the announcement to be made today, to help publicize his client’s latest movie. Call my cynical, but it sounds realistic.

Production on Indiana Jones 4 begins in June. The film is scheduled for a May 22nd, 2008 release.

Michael Bay to direct Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/2880/popzr7.png

Michael Bay (Transformers) will re-team with producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Bad Boys, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon) to direct the big screen adaptation of the popular video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Could this mean that we will finally get a half-way descent video game movie adaptation? I think so.

According to IESB, Disney hopes to have the film in theaters for a Summer 2009 release.

Prince of Persia is a third-person action adventure video game which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. The Sands of Time was released in late 2003 and is a continuation to the landmark PC game series Prince of Persia, created by Jordan Mechner in 1989. The game was praised for its visual design and finely tuned game mechanics, and won several awards. The game’s success led to a 2004 sequel, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and another sequel, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones in 2005.

The initial script was written by Jordan Mechner with subsequent drafts by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. Mechner has revealed that the movie will not be a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the videogame, but will instead take “some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story - much as ‘Pirates’ [of the Caribbean] did with the theme park ride.”

Rumors of The Prince’s casting have already exploded across the internet. Names have ranged from John Abraham, Brendan Fraser and Barry Watson, to David Zandi and Josh Somerhalder. Some people have even thrown Howard Stern’s American Idol Loser turned winner Sanjaya Malakar into the mix. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. I’m all for them ruining Idol (who isn’t) but not another video game movie.

Disney released some production art from the project earlier this year, check it out below:

Slated for release on June 13, 2008 the fillm will be directed by Louis Leterrier (Unleased, The Transporter 2) and starts shooting this summer in Toronto. The storyline will find Bruce Banner on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a misunderstood green menace. Louis Leterrier will direct for Universal Pictures from a script by Zak Penn.

The Hobbit:

Entertainment Weekly has learned that director Sam Raimi is seriously considering in directing "The Hobbit", a choice that could potentially leave "Spider-Man 4" without a director and, says Kirsten Dunst, a leading lady. Raimi's name has been floated in connection with The Hobbit ever since a very public dustup between Peter Jackson and New Line chairman Bob Shaye left the Lord of the Rings prequel without a director.
