Spider-man 3:

There are rumors that the villain Thomas Hayden Church will be playing in SPIDER-MAN 3 is the Chameleon and not Sandman as everybody had thought. Seeing as how it's been established that Topher Grace will also be playing a villain, we were all left to speculate who that villain is. Well, Comic Book Resources recently revealed that the villain is none other than - are you ready for this? - Venom!

Marvel movie update:

Garth over at Dark Horizons recently put up an interesting update on Marvel's upcoming projects from the recent Slate Report of its 2nd Quarter.

-Jigsaw may be the next villain in the PUNISHER sequel. The tentative subtitle for the sequel is WAR ZONE.

-The director for the feature adaptation of NAMOR is Chris Columbus with no one cast as the lead

-IRON MAN has officially been placed on hiatus possibly to allow for Tom Cruise to star

-Director John Singleton may be looking to Tyrese Gibson to take the lead role in LUKE CAGE.

-Lee Tamarohi is no longer directing DEATHLOK with the reason for his departure unknown

-According to Arad, THOR will be the LORD OF THE RINGS of comic book films.

Tom Cruise as IRON MAN? hmmm mejo di yata bagay..not a good idea

Anyways, I'm looking forward on seeing Kingkong, Harry Potter, my fave Spider-Man3, and tuloy na talaga ang Iron Man, yun din, kahit si Tom cruise ang gaganap na Tony Stark...

But what seems to be my biggest interest right now is catching X-Men 3. With all the new mutants to see in the movie, it really does seem a very good film. With Beast, Angel, Gambit, Juggernaut... promised bigger roles of Colossus, Ice-Man and Pyro... and meron pa daw mejo history ang mga new mutants na to.. hmmm..wow... sana 2006 na..:)

X3:

FilmForce has broken some more X3 casting news. Hot off the heels of their report that Olivia Williams would be starring as Moira MacTaggert, they've added today the news that Oscar-nominee and mother of Behrooooz! Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast as Dr. Kavita Rao. A little web research lets us know that Dr. Rao is the geneticist who was able to create a mutant cure dubbed "Hope" that we know is a big part of the upcoming movie. One thing's for sure is that Ratner has assembled one hell of an ensemble cast for this flick.

Kung Fu Hustle 2:

A report on MonkeyPeaches.com (via AICN) states that filming on KUNG FU HUSTLE 2 will begin in September or October in Shanghai and will wrap before the year's end. According to their site, "Almost everyone, including Stephen Chow himself, Lam Tse-Chung (Chow's sidekick), Yuen Qiu (the Landlady) and Yuen Wah (the Landlord), will reappear in the sequel. Even Chan Kwok-Kwan, whose character died in the first film, will return with a new character." The only major character who probably won't return is Huang Shengyi who played the female lead. The film reportedly has a $15 million budget, a part of which has been put up by Sony Pictures who were impressed with how well the film did stateside.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo

This movie continues the wondrous adventures of Deuce Bigalow (Schneider), whose gift to the world is the amazing ability to please women (AKA "Janes") in his role as a he-whore, a gigolo. Deuce is still relatively green to the profession, however, and so he is sent off to a school for gigolos in England where he can be trained to develop his full potential as a man whore. Once there, however, he discovers that 1) there is a secret society of he-whores that he didn't know about, 2) his rank in that society is very low and 3) someone is killing off many of the higher class gigolo cadets. Deuce is also introduced to a whole new gaggle of eager clientele, like Katrina, who lost her nose in a car accident which killed her brother, but luckily, one of his organs survived to be used as a skin graft... but it was the sort that now causes her nose to get longer when she gets sexually aroused. The fun all leads up to a big finale at the 73rd Annual Man Whore Awards.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005)

40-year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has done quite a few things in his life. He's got a cushy job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, a nice apartment with a proud collection of action figures and comic books, good friends, a nice attitude. But there's just one little thing he hasn't quite gotten around to doing yet--something most people have done by his age. Andy's never, ever, ever had sex. His friends at the store consider it their duty to help, but nothing proves effective enough until he meets Trish (Catherine Keener), a 40-year-old mother of three. Andy's friends are psyched by the possibility that "it" may finally happen...until they hear that Andy and Trish have begun their relationship based on a mutual no-sex policy.

Halo Targeted for Summer 2007

Source: Variety August 23, 2005

Variety reports that 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures have closed their deal to make a movie based on Microsoft's hit videogame Halo, with plans for a tentpole release in the summer of 2007. The two studios will pay Microsoft $5 million against 10% of the gross.

Universal will oversee the production and is handling domestic distribution, while Fox will take foreign distribution. The studios will split revenues 50/50 out of a shared pot, adds the trade.

Former Columbia president Peter Schlessel, who served as a Hollywood liaison for Microsoft, is producing. 28 Days Later screenwriter Alex Garland was paid $1 million by Microsoft to write a script that met its approval. He'll now do a rewrite with studio notes, after which Universal will go out to directors.

The film is based on the game franchise which has grossed $600 million.

Also, here are interviews on SUPERMAN RETURNS writers & co-writers. Included are some clips from the movie too.

Charlotte's Web:

One of the most anticipated kids films of 2006 will no doubt be the adaptation of EB White's classic story CHARLOTTE'S WEB. Dakota Fanning stars in the film, which features a mix of live-action and CGI. While Wilbur the pig is played by a real pig, both Charlotte the spider (voiced by Julia Roberts) and Templeton the rat (Steve Buscemi) are going to be created entirely inside a computer. In addition to Roberts and Buscemi, a bevy of celebs are lending their voices to the film including Oprah Winfrey, John Cleese, Thomas Haden Church, Andre 3000, Cedric the Entertainer, Kathy Bates and Robert Redford. CHARLOTTE'S WEB is scheduled for a June 23, 2006 release.

Old School 2:

Despite not having a commitment from any of the principal actors from the first film, DreamWorks has greenlit a sequel to one of their biggest hits OLD SCHOOL. Todd Phillips and Scot Armstrong will return to direct and write the film respectively. There had, obviously, been talks about an OLD SCHOOL sequel ever since the original film was a box-office success but development seemed to go south when Phillips and DreamWorks battled in 2004. Getting back Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell, two of which command double-digit salaries, could be expensive for the studio.

Spawn Animation is back:

Fans of the Todd McFarlane comic book, toyline, movie and animated series will be happy to know that Spawn is back- in a big way! IDT Entertainment and Todd McFarlane Productions has announced an incredible lineup of Hollywood talent providing voices for the characters featured in the return of “Todd McFarlane’s Spawn Animation”, including Keith David returning in the lead character voice role of Spawn.

Spawn is the story of a highly decorated U.S soldier, brutally executed by his own men. Reborn as a creature from hell, he fights a constant battle between the forces of good and evil. The first Spawn series aired on HBO from 1997 through 1999 and won two Emmy awards. Spawn, one of the world's best-selling comic books with hundreds of millions sold worldwide has also been the subject of a live-action feature film released in 1997. Distributed by New Line Cinema, the movie version of Spawn has grossed over $100 million internationally.

Fan reaction to the release of the first Spawn: Animation teaser trailer, which debuted at the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con, has been overwhelmingly positive. To view the trailer click here

"EVAN ALMIGHTY"

A while back Universal hatched a concept for a sequel to their highly successful Jim Carrey flick BRUCE ALMIGHTY. The concept would have Jim's Bruce character again called upon by God, this time to build an ark to save animals from an upcoming flood. Only Carrey wasn't interested in returning. So unfortunately the studio went out and threw a bunch of cash at Steve Carell to reprise his role as Bruce's dicky co-worker Evan Baxter and renamed the film EVAN ALMIGHTY. For a starring role in ALMIGHTY, Carell is expected to clear over $5 million for his role in the film. While Carrey and Jennifer Aniston won't be returning, the studio is in talks with Morgan Freeman to reprise his role as God in the film.
