South China/West Philippine Sea

Recommended Posts

I have a lot of scientists and geologists in my fb feed. And they pretty much say the same thing: Malacanang’s excuse that we need China to explore Benham rise is complete BS.

Our scientists are more than qualified to do research there on their own. The problem is equipment procurement: not even the cost or rental of equipment themselves, but the bureaucracy to have these equipment delivered to the Philippines.

Pxp energy at philodrill. So much for independent foreign policy. Lol

Kasi he’s a certified true liar. He doesn’t love this country. He loves being in power.

Pusta tayo if ever in the most remote scenerio na sakupin ng China ang mainland, si Duterte will be the first one to turn his backs on us and will want to become China’s puppet president.

Treachery runs in his heart.

How America is losing the battle for the South China Sea

Some optimists have pointed to small developments—such as China this year permitting Filipino and Vietnamese fishing around Scarborough Shoal for the first time since 2012—as encouraging signs that the Hague’s ruling is having a positive effect on the South China Sea.

Most observers see it much differently. With the U.S. government focused on North Korea, China this summer has made substantial progress in further establishing de facto control over most of the South China Sea.

Aside from an uptick in U.S. Navy freedom-of-navigation operations in the South China Sea, the administration seems uninterested in reinforcing international law.

The structures were there already before Duterte was elected as President.

The past president stood by while the structures were being built. He was not able to do anything.

Even the World Power USA was not able to do anything to stop the construction.

If all the leaders in the past were no able to stop it, what do you suggest we do now?

Not now in Duterte's time as far as I know.

Yes, as far as you know. But better look closely at what our DND and DFA have been doing.

Our policy of handling territorial conflict through diplomatic means has not changed. It's just that because our diplomatic relations with China is more cordial now compared to BS Aquino's term, there are now less diplomatic protests and more concessions given.

This is against USA's liking. They want us to be more belligerent to China.

To our government's credit, we are silently building up our defense capability in order to assert our sovereignty in the future.

Harry Roque, the spokesperson, has a cryptic statement:

"...If the Aquino administration was not able to do anything about these artificial islands, what do they want us to do? We cannot declare war -- not only is it illegal... but it's also because it's impossible for us to declare war at this point..."

True

False. At least Pnoy had the balls to fight for our sovereignty and take China to court winning that decision at the Hague. It didn't make China leave, but it was a start to the diplomatic protests.

Even the World Power USA was not able to do anything to stop the construction.

The US was at least challenging China's claims by sailing near these disputed shoals and asserting freedom of navigation. They were our friends. They were helping and supporting our cause and we left them hanging when Duterte suddenly gets verbal diarrhea and says "the US has lost... I will be forever indebted to China" or something like that.

If all the leaders in the past were no able to stop it, what do you suggest we do now?

For starters, Digong can shut his trap and stop saying s@%t like "we cannot beat China". What a f#&king pussy! If you were a little girl and this big dude was trying to rape you, do you just lay down there and let him do anything to you saying to yourself "I cannot beat you". You have to fight! Not necessarily by taking up arms but there are many other diplomatic protests we could've done. For starters he should've listened to the experts like Justice Carpio. Carpio had many suggestions. Staying silent was the worst thing we could've done and that's exactly what Digong did.
