The Walking Dead

I'm liking season 2, so far. I've read the monthly comics down to the latest and I must say that it's a great job they're doing how there are divergent elements in the TV show while they still maintain the "core" story.

I am wondering how they are going to go about the story line of Sophia (the little girl missing in the woods), and if they are going to k*ll her (if she is not dead yet) soon in the TV series.

So far, between the TV series and the comic books, the TV series (for me) is proving to be less angry and contains lesser mature, sexual themes. I think that is good, too, as the anger and sexual themes work well for the black-and-white illustrated series, which really cement its dark appeal. Overall, there are very minute albeit essential tweaks in the personality of the characters and their development, so far.

Walking Dead fans, I would like to suggest that you guys read the illustrated series, too, as it will prove to add perspective and more depth to your experience with the TV show.

I'm excited to find out how Hershel's statement that, "We aren't completely unscathed. We lost friends, neighbors. The epidemic took my wife, my stepson," is going to unfold in the next episode.

Also, The Walking Dead season 3 is now confirmed! Horray for us!

Breaking Bad fans (like myself) are treated to an easter egg in The Walking Dead S02E02!

Notice the ziplock bag that Daryl identifies as his diseased brother's stash? Among the "medicines" he identifies is meth, which is the blue stuff in the bag! They are very identifiable as they contrast against the other orange pill-bottles inside.

Meth is commonly white, and the meth that Walter White (in Breaking Bad) cooks is blue because he uses a different chemical process to synthesize his product, which, in turn he packs in the same size of ziplock that was also used in Bloodletting episode of The Walking Dead.

Ah, fanboys! We get excited by such easter eggs!

Read about the renewal for The Walking Dead Season 3 and it's record shattering achievement HERE.

Has anyone noticed how the early episodes seem less of a zombie series? 2 episodes in and the zombies seem like they are just cameos.

the title of the show may be "the walking dead" but it would really, really be boring if there were zombies in every scene - they dont talk, the have no facial expression, they do nothing but grunt and weave about drunkenly.

oh wait -- its because zombies are dead but not dead.

the show is really about the lives of the people caught in the epidemic and what they do (or dont do) to survive.

please to not be so literal.

oh and flashbacks?...can someone say "Lost"

Lost does not have the monopoly on the use of flashbacks. in fact, no film, book or tv show does.

after all, a flashback is a device often used in literature, film and tv to fill in information or explain something in the present by referencing the past.

I love the show but Lori Grimes remind me so much of my ex. Not a painful experience, but more annoying.

And oh, btw, a friend from the same film department I graduated in works for the show and I basically already learned the ending. Hint: Don't forget a character's gunshot wound and his blood transfusion. Both are keys to the main title "The Walking Dead." It refers to a character, for the most part. But I guess depending on how many seasons they get, this plot may change.

I wonder if they are going anywhere with the new "love connection" that is introduced in the story line. Raised my eyebrows with car suddenly stopping in the middle of the road.

How many days has it been since Sofia got lost? How could she make it "out there" on her own? Unless, I am guessing, they make it turn out that she was found and has been staying with another group of survivors all along. I guess we all have to find out soon.

Episode 7

“Pretty Much Dead Already”

Episode opens with Glenn revealing the presence of the walkers to the rest of the group, who promptly proceed to freak out. Maggie becomes angry with Glenn for not keeping the secret and ruins his hat in retribution. Dale gives Glenn his trademark bucket hat as a replacement. Maggie later makes a plea to Hershel for the group to stay. She and Glenn also have an argument about the walkers, after which they eventually admit their feelings, kiss and make up.

Rick and Hershel argue, with Hershel demanding the group leave within a week. Rick uses the my-wife-is-pregnant card, but Hershel’s not persuaded. Shane also wants the group to get the hell out of there because of the walkers in the barn, but Rick uses the same excuse to cool him down. However, Shane then becomes convinced that Lori’s baby is his.

Dale takes off with Shane’s guns to hide them in the swamp. Shane tracks him down and demands he give the guns back. Dale points his rifle at him and threatens to shoot. However, he backs down at the last moment, since he has no wish to become like Shane: he reveals that he knows Shane shot Otis and lied about what really happened. Shane heads back to the farm with the guns.

Hershel has Rick help him and Jimmy try to fish some walkers out of a nearby pit of quicksand and lead them into the barn with snare poles. He says the group can stay on the farm if they agree not to k*ll the walkers. They arrive at the farm about the same time Shane emerges from the swamp and hands out guns to other members of the group…

Shane sees the snared walkers and goes berserk. He yells at Rick and Hershel as they guide the walkers towards the barn, with the rest of the group and people in the farm looking on. He pulls his sidearm and unloads it in the chest of one of the walkers, demanding to know “Could someone who’s alive just take that? Why is it still coming?” Hershel has no answer.

He finishes off the walker with a headshot, grabs a nearby pickaxe and breaks open the barn door. Walkers pour out, T-Dog, Daryl, Shane, Glenn, and Andrea form a line and open fire. Once the dust clears, one more walker emerges. Sophia. Rick finally steps up next to the others, pulls his six-shooter and kills Sophia with a shot to the head.

End episode.
