The only thing true about seeing things is that if a lot of people empower the thought the more it can manifests. Poltergeist brought about by a group of people thinking an ordinary house is huanted has a high chance of manifestation rather a group of skeptics on a real place with high concentration. pros:

 

you'll have a different view of life, death, the afterlife, and the world in general

you'll be able to see those that are unseen by other people

depending on the "gift" you may be able to read a person's future

 

 

cons:

 

it can drive you crazy. especially when you can't distinguish the real from the unreal

people who have different views on the matter would call you names (ie devil worshipper, delusional, crazy, etc)

you open yourself to possible possession

it can be a burden on the mind and spirit
