jedimaster
Parang Beatles ang Grizzlies, dinudumog !!!! "Posted Oct 22, 2008 Politics usually isn't a subject of conversation in the Grizzlies' locker room. The players, though, got a heavy dose of the presidential campaign Tuesday evening on their way to American Airlines Arena. An otherwise ho-hum bus ride suddenly turned into the Griz receiving a police escort because of the traffic and huge crowd forming downtown near Bicentennial Park. Why all of the commotion? Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's speech at a rally that was expected to draw 50,000. "It was like being in college when you're at the tournament," Griz forward Rudy Gay said. "Everybody was waving like we had Barack on the bus. It made us feel important." The Grizzlies' last police-escorted bus ride happened last year while the team held training camp in Spain."We're big time," Griz coach Marc Iavaroni said, "or Obama's big time."" jedimaster
After losing its season opener against the Rockets, Memphis tallied its first win against Dwight Howard and the rest of the Magic. Here's part of the story : Grizzlies slip past Magic Memphis Commercial Appeal "Rudy Gay keeps preaching that the Grizzlies won't be an easy out this season. Friday night, he kept with that baseball analogy and hit a walk-off home run. Gay's 18-footer as time expired allowed the Grizzlies to beat the Orlando Magic, 86-84, in front of 16,139 in FedExForum. Griz owner Michael Heisley led a frenzied reaction as his team won its first game, and ended a seven-game losing streak in home openers since moving to Memphis. Heisley jumped in jubilation as Gay celebrated with his teammates as fans cheered on the come-from-behind victory. "I don't want to settle for just being a young team," said Gay, who caught the inbounds pass with 1.9 seconds left. "I've lost for two years. I want to win." Gay said he didn't see the defender or hear the crowd. It looked that way given the smoothness and confidence in Gay's shot. "It was the Rudy Show," Griz coach Marc Iavaroni said. ------------------ GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! Quote Link to comment
jedimaster
GRIZZLIES notch up another W against Stephen Jackson and the rest of the Warriors. Record now is 2-2. This team now has solid player in every position. It's no longer just the 3 (Mayo, Gay and Conley). Now it has Gasol and Arthur. -------------- Grizzlies roll past Warriors Memphis Commercial Appeal "Marc Gasol doesn't mind being compared to his big brother, Pau. But the younger 7-footer isn't exactly suffering through an identity crisis. Gasol, the Grizzlies' rookie from Spain, gave the Griz production they used to get from their former franchise player. This Gasol, though, did it in a different way. Controlling the paint with brawn and grit, Gasol tallied career highs of 27 points and 16 rebounds Monday night and led the Griz past the Golden State Warriors, 90-79, in FedExForum. The name may be the same, but unlike his brother, the 23-year-old Gasol isn't making finesse his game. Quote Link to comment
jedimaster
Bring out the champagne ! Grizzlies on a rampaging 4 game streak, losses that is. It started with 4-pt loss to Nuggets. One of those could have won it game Then 5-pt loss to Suns. Another one of those could have won it game. Then a massacre from the Mike D'Antoni charged Knicks. Grizzlies came back in the next game against the Bucks but lost in overtime. Of the 4 games, 3 could have gone sideways, the team just needs to be more controlled in the closing minutes. They'll get better. GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! Quote Link to comment

PimpDadi
I hate you Memphis Grizzlies because you traded Pau Gasol for Nothing! :thumbsdownsmiley: If you just wanted to save money, you could have gotten the expiring contracts of Brent Barry and Francisco Elson! And thats why Greg Popovich can't believe there is no conspiracy here. He could have thrown in Luis Scola and draft picks to sweeten the deal. Quote Link to comment
