Tattoos on a woman can be very hot, depending on where the work is done. I think it is best to be on a spot that can be covered with clothing when desired. Facial tattoos are not a good life decision in my opinion and invite others to think lowly of you.

This is Joey Pang - possibly one of the most sought after tattoo artist in Hong Kong. The waiting period is something like three years and if you check out her portfolio, you'd understand why. I absolutely adore her work. Not sure if I would ever be tattooed by her. Hmmm... schedule and financials permitting, I hope so!



There are other artists who do tattoos in this style. I found a good one in Taipei and I'll most likely try him out for a small piece (my 4th!!) before I go full on with my back (hopefully!!!!) by her.

Tattoos invite opinions from opposite ends of the spectrum. People are either very much okay with it or very much against it. On my travels I get feedback from both, and I just respond accordingly.

 

A Japanese man I shared an elevator with was rudely staring, sizing me up, looking upwards and downwards. Seems like it wasn't enough for me so he had to say something. "Those tattoos are okay in your country?" He asked with a tone of a father scolding a child.

 

I looked him in the eyes and said, "They are perfectly okay for ME and that's all that matters."

 

You would think that tattooing is pretty common in Japan so they should be a little more open minded. But I quickly realized what he actually meant was... Is that sort of tattooing acceptable FOR A WOMAN in your country?

 

Which infuriates me even more.

 

On the other hand I was on a train in Taipei, a country where people are not really that much into tattooing. (Or at least tattooing in highly visible areas of the body)

 

A serious looking man, muscles and all tapped me on the train. I thought, what the f#&k have I done now that's offensive. He said something but I didn't understand a word so my eyes probably spoke volumes of utter confusion.

 

He pulled up his sleeves to show off his tattoo, pointed to my tattoo and smiled.

 

Tattoo culture really should be nothing new - are we kidding? People from thousands of years have been painting their bodies in all sorts of ways.

 

But enough of the negative perception of tattoos because it's a very stupid battle in a society where it's acceptable for a person to stand next to you and smoke and give you lung cancer while it's taboo for you to suffer pain (on your own) while getting a tattoo.

I have a colorful full sleeve tattoo in my left arm and may iba pa sa ibang part ng katawan. People always asks why I chose those designs na pinalagay ko... hmmmm wala akong maisip, hindi ko alam, basta gusto ko lang sya na nasa balat ko. Nagagalit yung ermats ko, ano daw ba napapala ko sa tattoo, eh sabi ko maayos naman ang kita ko, walang naaagrabyadong tao, socially reaponsible, Godly individual, ano naman masama? Pero at the beginning palang wala na talaga ko pakelan kung ano sasabihin nila, basta gusto ko lang may design ang balat ko. Im planning to have aback piece next year, konting ipon muna.
