kaplogan
Quote Link to comment

pimpkin®
GINEBRA CLOBBERS RED BULLBarakos hobbled by injured Parada; off-form BaguioSunday, 20 July 2008Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao swore he didn’t know how they were able to finish No. 2 in the double-round elimination phase. At the start of the Final Four Sunday, Guiao and his boys didn’t know what hit them. Barangay Ginebra rode the momentum of its swashbuckling run dating back to the elims as it walloped Red Bull, 108-82, in Game One of their 2008 Smart PBA Fiesta Conference best-of-seven semifinals showdown at the Cuneta Astrodome. "It’s just Game One and it doesn’t mean anything. It’s a long series and we know what Red Bull is capable of doing," said Ginebra coach Jong Uichico, trying to downplay their victory. But the Kings reigned practically on all fronts, quickly establishing control and immediately taking away the sizzle in the highly awaited match-up. It didn’t help that the Barakos came out flat and struggled all evening, hardly looking like the team that compiled an 11-7 win-loss records in the elims for an outright entry into the semis. The Barakos committed 27 errors and yielded 25 turnover points to the Kings. Ginebra, on the other hand, gave away only two turnover points. The Kings, fresh from a three-day rest after easing out the Sta. Lucia Realtors Wednesday, got off to a jackrabbit start and never let up in fashioning out the wire-to-wire win. Chris Alexander asserted himself from the opening tip, helping Ginebra set the tone early. With Alexander outplaying Adam Parada, the Ginebra locals took the cue, outperforming their Red Bull counterparts as the Kings stretched their amazing streak to nine games. The Kings ended up with a well-balanced job with six of them finishing in double figures. Only Leo Najorda and Jojo Duncil put in twin-digit output for the Barakos. "We came out today with a defensive mentality, except in some parts where the game became a shootout, we thinking we can outscore Red Bull," said Uichico. Ginebra pounced on Red Bull’s erratic first half, sitting on a 50-37 cushion at the turn. A 16-2 advantage on turnover points was a big factor as the Kings dominated the opening half, enjoying the lead from the get-go. Alexander threw his weight around early, piling up 10 rebounds and the same number of rebounds as against Parada’s five rebounds and two points in the first 24 minutes of play. (NC) The scores: Ginebra 108 – Alexander 16, Helterbrand 16, Caguioa 15, Valenzuela 13, Artadi 12, Menk 10, Pacana 9, Salvacion 5, Crisano 4, Escalona 3, Reavis 3, Mamaril 2, Pablo 0. Red Bull 82 – Najorda 19, Duncil 16, Pennisi 8, Baguio 7, Juntilla 6, Parada 6, Cruz 6, Hrabak 6, Alvarez 3, Robinson 2, Adriano 2, Bugia 1, Ybanez 0. Quarterscores: 26-10, 50-37, 79-57, 108-82 Quote Link to comment

George Bush
As i said before, no way that RB will gonna win this series with that shallow lineup with the Kings on a roll, with a lineup that is formidable at all fronts, with Reavis improving every game, it would need a fuc#$g mircacle for them to win the series, as i predicted before min of 5 games max of 6 for KINGS. Things to expect next game. 1.) RB would come out on Fire, the kings must match their intesnsity to have a 2-0 lead ( INTENSITY IS THE KEY ) 2.) RB would be playing A DIFFERENT KIND OF WAR A VERY PHYSICAL ONE ( MANINIRA / MAMIMILAY NA MGA PLAYERS NI YENG) 3.) JJ, JUNTHY, ARTADI, THESE THREE GUARDS MUST PLAY WITH THEIR HEAD THEY MUST REMEMBER THAT THEY FUEL EVERY GINEBRA RUN, THEY WILL BE BULLIED BY THESE RAG TAG BULLS FOR SURE. PAG PIKON TALO* MARK IS MORE ACCUSTOMED TO THIS KIND OF PSYCH WAR, THAT IS WHY I AM MORE CONFIDENT KAYA NIYA MGA RB PLAYERS 4.) ADAM PARADA WOULD HAVE A MONSTER GAME. ( LET HIM SCORE, BUT DON'T LET HIM CONTROL THE BOARDS) MENK, ALEXANDER, REAVIS WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR HIM TO HANDLE. 5.) PACANA DID A GREAT JOB OF KILLING BAGUIO ON HIS FIRST STEP, HE CANT EVEN START LAST NIGHT. *IF THE KINGS, TAKE THIS SERIES WITH ALL CAUTION AND HUNGER, THIS COULD EVEN BE A SWEEP. jumpman611
they have a tendency to peak at the right time... save for tubid, they're likewise getting their guys (reavies, caguioa, et al) back from injury. Quote Link to comment

Archdevil
Artadi, what can I say. Iba na ang confidence level. Reavis. Katulong ni Alexander sa rebounds. Most agile big man ng Ginebra. Menk. Konting confidence pa, on the way there. JJ and MC47. He's good. Junthy. It's payback time for the former RB player. Quote Link to comment

Yan ang contender dati sa best import. they have a tendency to peak at the right time... save for tubid, they're likewise getting their guys (reavies, caguioa, et al) back from injury. Agent_mulder
Great win mga ka-Barangay but we should not be celebrating yet dahil game 1 pa lang yan. Helterbrand was blazing sa simula pa lang. Artadi again provided a great relief job what with his hustle and even in scoring, although parang mark-man na s’ya ng mga guards ng rb based on what celino cruz had given to him. Caguioa didn’t get his usual numbers early on but did manage to get it going later in the game. Maganda ang depensa ni Pacana kay Baguio, sa coca-cola scorer si Pacana pero sa Ginebra naging defensive player s’ya hopefully he can continue to do that in the next game. I don’t like with him is that he tends to commit unnecessary fouls hence putting himself and the team in foul trouble. Valenzulea although not out for revenge or anything like that played a brilliant game, sana tuloy-tuloy nay an. Coach Jong is aware that rb can comeback and Parada is not a 100% kaya malaki ang lamang nila kagabi and yeng guiao opted to pull-out Parada in order for him to rest and not risk aggravating his injury. Aside from Baguio and Parada, they should also be wary of najorda, cruz, duncil, robinson and even juntilla (and they should also watched out for the cheap shots of cruz, penissi and even ibañez), these players are can make things happen for rb lalo na pag dikit ang laban at gumagawa si Baguio. We cannot totally say na natalo ang rb dahil sa may injury and import nila, the way I see it medyo may kalawang sila at makikita mo na they are off-form. Hopefully Reavis can do more of what he does last night which is take care of the boards, Menk to get his game back, Mamaril to stay out of foul trouble as the power forward position is the department na konti ang production nila.. nakita nyo yung ankle breaking cross over move ni JArtadi kay duncil ?!?! nyahahaasteeg! Tpos meron pa tayong MANU GINOBLI off the bench hehehe... Artadi, what can I say. It's payback time for the former RB player. Not to take anything away from Ginebra, its just one of those games na sobrang swerte ang isang team while the other is struggling na kahit isusubo na lang hindi pa ma-shoot, basta 'wag lang sana sila maging over-confident..
