I did a scan sanitizer on my hp laptop....the thing is after 30% i just abort the operation...honestly i was damn impatient to finish the entire clean up, coz it took 30% for 4hrs....can't wait to finished it entirely and migth finished it for entire 10 hrs? , had an errand tomorrow thats why I abort the operation, did try to install win7 and it did install....now my question is.... do aborting scan sanitizer will damaged the hard disk/drive in the future? although successful naman pag-install ko.. still thus aborting the operation might damaged the hard disk? 500GB of harddisk

I assume the scan sanitizer is to scan and fix error sectors on your hard drive.

Stopping it mid way won't damage anything on your hard drive.

Also, Most people recommend Hard Drives to be used no more than 5 years.

After that, it is recommend that you replace it since it will most likely start failing.

^scan sanitizer? never heard about it before. Ingat sa pag gamit ng mga di kilalang software baka harmful pa yan sa system mo. Anyways, kung clean install lang naman ng OS ang habol mo, there is no better way to do it than a full reformat ng HDD first prior to installation. Atleast kung may latak man ng virus ang nagtatago sa kasulok-sulokan ng HDD mo malilinis yan sigurado. There are tons of materials that you could read about it online.

tnx sir sa info...laptop ko is hp probook 4540s, yung scan sanitizer is part ng bios/system feature ng hp mismo...i was planning for clean install nung nakita ko yung scan sanitizer, ang info naman nia is to entirely delete yung hard disk, format din ang dating pero na ka feature sia sa hp/bios mismo , so nung inoperate ko na sia, di ko inexpect na ganun sia katagal magscan/format....although 500gb yung harddisk so iwas expecting atleast an hour pero 30% for 4hrs palang...so kinancel ko na..nabother lang me na baka madali na madamage yung hard disk or maging prone na sa bad sector/damage in the future?....although nainstall ko ng os now and yes i did a format ..regular format when installing the OS...again thank you sa info and tips .

nope it wont affect or give you bad sectors in the future.

there are two types of disk bad sectors : soft and hard...

hard, is on the magnetic plates and disks wherein since they are mostly spinning at high RPMs, may wear and tear and sooner or later, it will fail.

soft is due to application reasons.... failure to dismount, failure to shutdown properly, etc.
