EvilAgent
I agree with the deffects of some but not all. Anything that you owned from a cellphone to a car... it all depends on how well you know ur things. So be very careful when buying and take care of it for it to last to its maximum life span. dominoneedsu
the thread starter is angry with toyota..well, we cant blame him. We did'nt went thru the situations that he experienced. Here are my opinion on this case. A car is not perfect, it is designed and made by man. When you buy a car, it is expected that in a certain period, you will be required to do some minor and major repair depending on the KMs it travelled, the road conditions and mostly the driving style of the one using it. There are also rare cases wherein new cars will breakdown prematurely due to unseen manufacturing deffects. Remember guys, the breakdown of cars is not BRAND DEPENDENT. All of them have inherent advantage and disadvantage, thats why each one of us buys a different model or brand because we have our own way of choosing. It is unfair to label Toyota Cars as bad. As if we were saying that the Millions of people using toyota cars are wrong?! Maybe, just maybe the batch that was bought have manufacturing deffect, but a company will not put a BRANDED product that has design deffect. I do not believe that the oil pump of a 1.6 toyota engine is undersized for the unit. Cmon, the amount of oil circulating the lubrication system is design with a safety factor of 2. This is because the designer takes into consideration the clugging of the system from the pump down to the filters. If your car suffers this deffect, what about the 199,000 thousand more that bought the same model on the same year? i think there's only 3 of you that has complained online about this. Mind you guys, i dont work ON TOYOTA. My cars are not toyota, except my first owner type jeep that was assembled out of every available junk on the market. I am just presenting here a different opinion. I always tell my friends about buying a car. "If you dont have a problem and likes to have one...then buy a car" "Your life depends on the car you are driving, so treat your car nicely, listen to its sounds and be gentle with her, change the oil at manufacturers adviced intervals, change filters, brake pad, etc. and keep a record of what you did to your car" this will improve the second hand value of your car if the maintenance record is available." "The acquisition cost is only 1/3 of your expense. The other 1/3 is the maintenance and the last 1/3 is the operating expenses" "If the maintenance is becoming a head ache..SELL IT! To be worry free (almost) change car every 3-5 yrs..below 100T Km..like the japanese. Actually this last one is the best solution to your problem..PEACE bro. Quote Link to comment
sparkplug
my friend has a problem with his innova G dsl, just last nov, when he was driving and steps on the breaks, just when coming to a complete stop the engine stalls, he restarted and just like what happened earlier the engine stalled again when he was just about to stop. he brought it to a toyota dealer and the service adviser said it was the fuel pump. the dealer replaced it but still the problem remained. The car is just a year old and still under warranty, he said he didn't do anything to the engine that could have caused the problem. As for me im not having problems with my innova V since its still almost brand new and has a gasoline engine. Up to now he is still having problems with his innova, but now it seldom stalls when braking but the engine sounds different. a little noisy than ordinary. He is planning to sell it to free himself from the headaches. I hope he resolves his problem with his car. Quote Link to comment
tacio
actually, benz ngayon madami problema. sa u.s, toyota na number one. at nasa top 3 in terms of reliability. so tama, malas na lang kung lemon ang nakuha mo. pero dapat under warranty yan, minsan yun dealer pinapahirapan customer nila. one time bumili kia carnival kaibigan ko. lemon nakuha nila. every week for the first month meron bagong sira nakikita. sinubukan ayusin naman ng dealer nila pero palpak pa din. nagsawa na at nagalit yun dad ng friend ko so nagreklamo mismo sa kia head office. in the end, pinalitan buong car nila kahit 2-3 month used na. ok naman yun replaement car. meron na lang problem sa aircon pero naayos naman. The problem is magkaiba ang model line up sa states saka dito sa pinas. sa states magaganda models nilalabas nila kasi the gov't protects the consumers. e dito di lahat ng models maganda. madami din me problema. mas safe cguro kung yung model na pipiliin mo is sold globally. By the way, I drive a toyota. but its a model sold globally. ok reliability pero performance has a lot of room for improvement. small things na dapat naperfect nila like weaker brakes when compared to other similar model and the transmission is not smooth and slow. kaya siguro na ngkaroon ng reputation toyota na reliable but boring Quote Link to comment
gatz
I agree with some of the posters that it really depends on how you use and care for the vehicle. Now if you just got your car and the defect shows after a week or so and it happened to a lot of units and different lines then that is a different case, with that you can label the car manufacturer as dump. Just my 2 cents. I also had a bad experience with our vios, its brand new and the aircon smells like a damp rag right after opening the a/c. same thing with the vios of my other friends. VIOS is a lemon product period. You have a Vios? sucks to be us. Quote Link to comment
hondacity
sounds like marami lng talaga complaints... why don't you get another car from another manufacturer..if you complain again...try the next one....and the next if you get the perfect car..sure ...then it breaks..now you complain again... the cycle goes on... i think toyota is overall ok...we got a vios(lil sis), camry(dad) an innova (family use), and fortuner(bro)..and so far they've been good Quote Link to comment
rayt64
I have a friend who has a brand new TOYOTA Vios and sira agad makina. Yung early version of Vios may issue daw na pumpaling front wheel pakanan. I read early post here that there is a change oil problem with the owner that caused the black smoke and overhauling issue. Comment lang, I have a 97 Honda Civic VTEC PH16 engine that I neglected engine oil change maitim na nga oil nya at malapot na before I change it. I use shell ferrari oil when it became available and before holy week lang oil change ko. I always go to Tagaytay, La Union, Baguio, Laguna, Quezon daily for vacation or work related. 10k to 15k before ako mag oil change pero sa user manual it should be every 5k. My car is 140k now and no engine repair yet except timing belt and fan belt replacement after 88k. I also observed Brand New Altis or other Toyotas with busted Tail or Brake lamps after 1 year. My Honda Civic took 4 years before only 1 busted brake lamp and until this day no busted tail or brake lamps yet. BTW I'm a crazy driver as I rev past 5,000 RPM to achieve 60-80 kph at 2nd gear and 100-120 kph on 2nd gear. Still no engine trouble and clean smoke from the tail pipe. I seldom open my hood to check my car. Therefore Honda is really DURABLE and FAST but EXPENSIVE SPARE PARTS! Quote Link to comment

BigJ
i have a bad experience also sa toyota, specially the toyota balintawak, way back year 2000, i bought my altis 1.8 limited edition, i seldom use it but i always make it a point to run the engine everyday, para hindi magstuck up ang engine at gulong, after 1 month, when i was my car there is a leak sa passenger side, i immediately bought it back to toyota balintawak, ang ginawa lang nila ay tinulak lang ang pinto ay in ONE man power pushing the door, as in kala mo ma kaya niya e bent tapos ayun solve na daw ang problem, take note under sa warranty pa yun car ko ah, i demand for a total explanation on the reason why there is a leakage ang sagot wala naman ah. just like that they tell me as in TELL me to bring the car home and observe it. the leak happens again around 3 to 5 times and i keep bring it back, hanggang di na nila ako entertain. since i pay it in full, wala na sila pakialam. so what i did i bring it to a autoshop near our house, they found out na may defect lang yung rubber kaya nag leak, pinalitan at kaboom problem solve no leakage. this is how stupid, irresponsible and most of all selfish Unscrupulous businessman they are. kaya the best way to protect your car, know a good autoshop, pay a little bit more, pero at least you could see what they are doing to your cars, hindi tulad ng mga casa may tinatago at mandaraya Quote Link to comment

sleep_heavy
Hi there, I'm read your original post in Tsikot about your Altis. If you are posing a warning, you have to mention that you didn't follow the recommended oil change schedule. That's the first rule about maintaining your car's engine. Also, Toyota Quezon Avenue has the worse reputation among all the casas of Toyota. I experienced that first hand when i had my Vios brought there for it's 1st 1,000 km checkup. Lousy service and they even damaged my car's paint. I normally have my car serviced at Toyota Shaw before and now at Toyota Otis. It's already 41,000km and counting. Btw, I'm not working for Toyota nor am i connected them in any way. I concur. Quezon Av. has the worse reputation... something to note though... the girls in their show room here are very stunning... consuelo de bobo :upside: just my observation.... Quote Link to comment

'tang...a, nakailang kotse na kami over the years, nothing like this happened. and we never changed our driving habits naman! they will never admit something is wrong with the model! b.s. talaga!
