What Do You Miss Doing?

Recommended Posts

Baby rocket fights. My grandparents once had this 1 hectare property in Caloocan where we used to set up two camps where each camp would fire baby rockets (mini kwitis) at each other. We used empty pen containers as launch pads for the rockets and fire these at the opposing camp. Once, a rocket headed straight towards me and exploded as it hit my polo shirt. Left a big black hole on my shirt while the members of the other camp cheered wildly.

It was extremely lots of fun but in hindsight, also extremely dangerous. If one of those rockets had exploded on my face, I may be blind today. Thing is, it was my uncles who thought up the whole thing and we, being kids, just went along. I'm surprised my parents and my grand parents didn't object to this "war."

My cousins and I, (as well as my uncles) were fortunate to escape serious injury. But I will always look at this experience with great fondness. I wouldn't encourage this though for kids wanting to enjoy the New Years holidays. We were just extremely luck I guess.
