Rey Mysterio Injured

After missing much of 2007, Rey Mysterio has suffered yet another injury. It may force him to miss much of 2008 as well.

Rey Mysterio has been sidelined with what appears to be a torn bicep right now.

The injury occurred during a routine tag team match between Rey Mysterio & Kane against Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder during a house show in Santiago, Chile.

Rey Mysterio displayed some courage when he finished the match after the injury happened. Immediately afterwards, the WWE medical staff checked on his injury.

On Wednesday, he flew back to the United States before scheduled to have the injury checked by renowned specialist, Dr James Andrew. He's the doctor that all of the WWE's top level stars go see when they get injured.

Though nothing is confirmed until official word is released by WWE and the doctor, the consensus is that it is a torn bicep. If that's proven to be the case, then you can expect Rey Mysterio to miss some considerable time from the ring.

Similar injuries sidelined Edge, the Undertaker, and John Cena last year. Coincidentally enough, all three suffered their injuries in the midst of a title reign.

Unless John Cena has any of his magic potion left for Rey Mysterio, the masked wrestler will probably be on the shelf for a few months.

A Rey of Hope

Rey Mysterio fans do have a ray of hope, though. In the next few hours, we could learn from Dr James Andrews that the injury isn't as severe as it was first diagnosed.

That has happened before.

In fact, Mr Kennedy's major push last year was killed because he was misdiagnosed after his injury. It was first believed that Mr Kennedy had suffered a tricep tear. The thought was that he was going to miss a few months. WWE had to scramble, so they removed the Money in the Bank from him and gave it to Edge, who switched over from Raw to win the World Heavyweight Championship. It turned out that Mr Kennedy's tricep did not tear completely off the bone.

Dr James Andrews should be able to give a proper diagnosis for Rey Mysterio. He's one of the most well known and respected doctors in the entire country. Sports stars from the NFL, MLB, and NBA have gone to him when they're injured. WWE also sends their top stars (Triple H, John Cena, Bobby Lashley) to Dr James Andrews.

If Rey Mysterio is deemed unable to perform at this weekend's No Way Out pay per view, then you can expect WWE to choose someone to replace him in the match. In fact, if that were the case, WWE might choose to wait until the day of the event to inform fans. They'll wait just in case the Rey Mysterio fans decide against buying the pay per view. Then again, with two Elimination Chamber matches on the show, WWE shouldn't have any trouble with buyrates.

Kane's name has been thrown around as a possible last minute replacement for Rey Mysterio in the title match against Edge at the No Way Out pay per view.

There's also speculation that WWE could rush the return of the Big Show at No Way Out. He could replace Rey Mysterio in the title match against Edge.

Another interesting name as a replacement for Rey Mysterio is Matt Hardy. Sources state that he's been healthy enough to return to the ring.

Randy Orton as formed somewhat of a clique backstage.

There’s been a friendship formed between WWE Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, Umaga, Carlito, Rey Mysterio, and WWE United States Heavyweight Champion MVP. It’s been said that these five guys have been standing up for one another backstage.

Sources state that Randy Orton hasn’t been shy about standing up to management and veteran wrestlers ever since winning the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Rey Mysterio also possesses quite a bit of backstage stroke as well since he’s one of the most popular acts in the entire company.

Several years ago, the original Clique ruled WWE backstage. They were able to pretty much dictate their own pushes and storylines. The original Clique consisted of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman.

Big Show is still down in Florida training for his comeback.

For the past few weeks, the Big Show has been down in Florida Championship Wrestling training for his WWE comeback. For those of you that don’t know, Florida Championship Wrestling is a developmental territory for WWE.

There’s still no concrete word on when he will make his return, but there’s a good chance that he will be back either before or at Wrestlemania.

Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart has also been down in Florida Championship Wrestling, but don’t expect to see him making an in-ring return for WWE. His daughter is down there training.

Chris Masters is in negotiations with the new American Gladiators TV show to become a gladiator.

Chris Masters (along with TNA’s Matt Morgan) will be negotiating with the producers of the show for a spot as a gladiator. The first season did well enough to get renewed for a second season. Hulk Hogan will once again be the host of the show.

It wasn’t too long ago that Chris Masters’ 90 day clause with WWE ended. That means that he is now free to work with TNA or any other wrestling company in the US. Thus far, there hasn’t been much interest from TNA.

A lot of people believe that Chris Masters will eventually end back up in WWE. Keeping himself in the public’s eye would do well for his chances of returning to WWE.

- It is being reported by Jason Powell that Floyd Mayweather's appearance at No Way Out yesterday wasn't a one-off deal and that the boxing superstar is scheduled to wrestle at Wrestlemania.

Mayweather is likely to be partnered by Rey Mysterio, if he is cleared to compete, in a tag-team match against Big Show and a tag partner.

Nothing is set in stone at the moment but the creative team are said to be working with numerous possibilities, with Shane McMahon and MVP touted as possible partners to team with Show.

Kurt Angle lost the IWGP 3rd Generation Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura. The belt was unified with the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Steve Austin is said to be a disappointed with how Ric Flair's retirement storyline has turned out. This wasn't really what he had in mind when he came up with it.

Big Show actually suffered a legitimate broken nose last night at the hands of boxer Floyd Mayweather. The punches were especially stiff.

Kane worked a dark match prior to the No Way Out pay per view. He defeated Shelton Benjamin by pinfall after nailing a choke slam.

Mick Foley may be brought back to feud with Umaga over the summer.

Mick Foley has been trying to make a comeback with WWE for a while now, but for some reason, Vince McMahon has not particularly been too fond of the idea. He did work briefly in the Royal Rumble this year.

Right now, management is working on plans to have him feud with Umaga for a few months to help get the young Samoan over. In the past, Mick Foley has done a good job in elevating Edge and Randy Orton. The hope is that he can do it again for Umaga.

Lindsay Lohan was backstage at WWE Monday Night Raw.

Lindsay Lohan took a few pictures with Maria Kanellis, Candice Michelle, Shane McMahon, Floyd Mayweather, and Rey Mysterio. She also had a conversation with John Cena. Plus, Lindsay Lohan took the time to meet with a few fans as well.

Nice marketing move by WWE. You can expect to see this being covered by the gossip websites and magazines soon.

WWE had meetings today to decide Floyd Mayweather’s involvement at Wrestlemania.

Earlier today, WWE had several discussions in regards to how to utilize Floyd Mayweather at Wrestlemania. Right now, he is confirmed for the event. Sources also state that he will more than likely be physically involved in a match.

The strong rumors right now list Rey Mysterio, MVP, and Shane McMahon as possible candidates to be involved in the Wrestlemania segment with Floyd Mayweather. Rey Mysterio’s involvement is highly dependent on his health. MVP’s involvement doesn’t really make a lot of sense because he should be defending his WWE United States Heavyweight Championship against Matt Hardy.

Floyd Mayweather, a professional boxer, is scheduled to appear tonight on Monday Night Raw. The Big Show is scheduled for an appearance as well.

Sean Waltman has checked himself into a rehab center.

Sean Waltman, also known as Syxx and X-Pac, has checked himself into a rehab center somewhere in Texas. Sources state that the rehab is being paid in full by WWE.

When WWE was under the microscope from the media in regards to early deaths in wrestling, the company decided to counteract that by offering to pay for rehab for any wrestler that has ever worked for them.

Sean Waltman becomes the 4th wrestler to accept WWE’s offer. Ron Simmons, Jake “the Snake” Roberts, and Scott Hall.

Trish Stratus will be in attendance at an upcoming MMA event.

On Saturday night, Maximum Fighting Championship will be doing the finals of their “Ring’s Card Girl Search”. Trish Stratus will be a celebrity judge for the event. The event will take place at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Alberta, Canada.

For those of you that are still wondering, Trish Stratus has expressed no interest in returning to wrestling at the moment. She is still enjoying her time away from the business.

WWE is now seriously considering holding Wrestlemania in Mexico.

Sources state that WWE is considering holding Wrestlemania in Mexico City in 2009 or 2010.

Vince McMahon has long wanted Wrestlemania to appear to be a worldwide phenomenon. In many ways, it already is because the entire world watches the annual wrestling extravaganza. It becomes even more of a worldwide phenomenon if the event was actually held around the world.

Japan may be out of the question right now because WWE hasn’t particularly impressed the fan base there. However, we can easily see WWE holding a Wrestlemania in England as well. They might even be able to do one in Thailand since they are wildly popular there.
