Mr McMahon Retires

One of the biggest heels of all time has decided to retire.

According to backstage sources, Vince McMahon has decided to retire his on-screen character that he's had for approximately 13 years now. The Mr McMahon character was considered to be one of the best heels of all time.

The character was essentially created because of real life heat that Vince McMahon had from the wrestlers and the fans back in the fall of 1997 when he screwed over Bret Hart in front of a worldwide audience. From there, the character reached even greater heights when he feuded with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who was easily one of the most popular wrestlers of all time.

With Bret Hart returning to WWE this year, it was the perfect opportunity to end the character with the person that it started with. When the Hart family all assaulted Mr McMahon at Wrestlemania 26, that was said to be the final chapter in the character's long and storied history.

Vince McMahon will still make appearances on camera from time to time, but he won't be playing a character any more.

The Nasty Boys have been released from their contracts by TNA after a backstage incident.

Wrestling fans are rejoicing today.

TNA has released the Nasty Boys.

Three months ago, the Nasty Boys made their debut in TNA on the special January 4, 2010 edition of iMPACT! The company, led by Hulk Hogan's wishes, had decided to bring in the veteran tag team to work a program against Team 3D. It was a move that was not well received by fans whatsoever.

Now, thanks to an incident at a company function, Jerry Sags and Brian Knobs have been shown the door. According to reports, Brian Knobs did something wrong in front of executives from Spike. With TNA desperately needing to keep their relationship with Spike on very good terms, Dixie Carter decided that it would be best to remove them from the roster.

Jimmy Hart, the hall of fame manager who was recently brought in to complement the Nasty Boys, has not been released. The belief is that he will remain with TNA in a backstage role. There's still a chance that he might end up being the mouthpiece for one of the midcard wrestlers, though.

The releases show that while Hulk Hogan does have a lot of power within TNA, the priority is still business.

Jack Swagger Wins World Title

When the 10 participants were made official for the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania 26, Jack Swagger was among the many wrestlers who were going to compete for a shot at the title. However, he wasn't one of the most likeliest candidates to win the match.

Well, he did.

When Jack Swagger won the match, many people were predicting that he would become the first wrestler to lose the title shot after cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase. No one thought that he was going to win the title because management had seemingly gave up on and started demoting him on Raw.

Well, he did.

On tonight's episode of Smackdown, Jack Swagger surprised the audience in Las Vegas by coming out during the opening interview segment between Chris Jericho and Edge. After a short brawl between the two, Jack Swagger jumps into the ring, hits his powerbomb finisher, and pins Chris Jericho to win the match.

A stunned audience watches as Jack Swagger wins the World Heavyweight Championship.

Too Soon

Wrestling fans were still not done bashing WWE for elevating a guy like Sheamus to WWE Heavyweight Champion.

Now, they're focusing that very same opinion and debate towards Jack Swagger.

No one ever said that guys like Sheamus and Jack Swagger didn't have the potential to become a world champion in the future. It's just that no one thought that the future was going to take place a lot sooner than expected.

The very best champions in this business are the ones that had credibility by the time that they reached the top. Generally, you want to build up a guy's momentum before putting him on the throne.

Take a look back at history, and you'll see many examples of this.

Goldberg tore through the entire WCW roster when he made his debut. After each passing week, his credibility and crowd support grew. By the time he got into the ring with Hulk Hogan, the audience was practically begging for a title change to take place. The Georgia Dome erupted when Goldberg pinned Hulk Hogan to become the world champion.

The NWA planted the seeds for their future world champion back in 1988. At the very first Clash of the Champion event, a young Sting went to a 45 minute television time limit draw with then world champion Ric Flair. He had a lot of momentum at the time and management built him up for another two years before giving him the world title.

Batista was Triple H's sidekick in the Evolution stable for a good period of time, which gave him some momentum and credibility. When dissension arose within the stable, the audience started getting behind Batista. After weeks and months of teasing the babyface turn, the fans went wild when it finally happened. Batista had ridiculous momentum going into that Wrestlemania 21 match against Triple H. When he finally won the World Heavyweight Championship, fans were more than pleased.

Neither Jack Swagger nor Sheamus went through this process.

Salvaging Swagger

The trigger has been pulled, so now WWE has to figure out a way to make this thing with Jack Swagger work.

Obviously, he's going to need to work programs with Chris Jericho and Edge. Jack Swagger needs to work matches against top level guys or else the audience won't are much for him. Beating these guys would also provide him with some credibility as well. A program with Rey Mysterio would also do well for Jack Swagger.

WWE should also look into having Jack Swagger defending the World Heavyweight Championship on Smackdown as well. There are plenty of midcard babyfaces that he can beat in order to build up some momentum and credibility. Smackdown has guys like Matt Hardy, Finlay, John Morrison, and R Truth to throw at him.

One o the things that WWE has to avoid is to pit Jack Swagger against the Undertaker. Regardless of the fact that he's the champion, very few people are going to believe that he can actually pull off the upset victory.

While Jack Swagger has to prove himself on the mic and in the ring, it's the job of the writers to make sure that he's booked well to the point where the audience isn't going to turn on him.

Not So Fast

Mr McMahon might just be leaving a little too soon.

When you're one of the best at generating heel heat, it helps others out quite a bit. When the fans hate you, they're naturally going to cheer for whoever it is that's on the other side of the ring.

Some of the best feuds since the Attitude Era have involved Vince McMahon. The reason for that is because he's a legitimate main event performer (solid in the ring, great on the mic).

With that said, there is one more main event feuds that Vince McMahon should have participated in before retiring the character.

McMahon vs Cena

A feud against John Cena is the last big ticket program for Vince McMahon.

It's a match that could easily headline Wrestlemania.

Vince McMahon has worked matches against some of his biggest stars of all time. He's feuded with Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, Ric Flair, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Steve Austin.

Well, John Cena has joined that list of top tier wrestlers. While a lot of people try to discredit him, John Cena is a legitimate main event wrestler that the company is built around. He's a draw that can also move merchandise.

A program between Vince McMahon and John Cena makes sense. It wouldn't even take a brilliant storyline in order to make it entertaining either. John Cena's character has been known to defend the audience and do whatever it takes to please them. He could easily generate some support by going against Vince McMahon for insulting the audience.

Of course, a program between these two isn't going to be without any complications. With half of the audience hating John Cena with a passion, they might be inclined to root for Vince McMahon. That's where the Chairman needs to step up with his near impeccable ability to have an audience turn on his character.

People have accused John Cena of trying to be like Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. Well, he might as well do it by feuding with Vince McMahon.

Batista Burnt Out

For wrestling fans, working for WWE is the ultimate dream job.

You get to travel around the world. You get to work matches at historic pay per views such as Summerslam, the Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania. You get to hang out with the divas. You get big paychecks.

For those that have already succeeded in getting a job with WWE, though, things aren't nearly as much of a dream.

You don't get to see your family that often. You live out of a suitcase. You struggle to find decent food after the shows end. You're cramped up for hours and miles inside of a small rental car. Most of your paycheck goes towards paying for traveling expenses. Fans bother you regardless of where you're at. Your body gets smashed all over the place.

Just like anything else, it becomes a job.

For Batista, it's become a burden.

Other Interests

Sure, the paychecks are nice (especially for a top level wrestler like Batista), but money can only keep you happy for so long.

Batista wouldn't necessarily be lying if he said that he needed time off to heal some injuries. Being one of the bigger names in the company means that you're on the road every single week. Plus, Batista has always been injury prone anyways.

However, the hunch here is that the bigger reason for why Batista wants to take time off is because he wants to pursue other interests.

The 41 year old Washington D.C. native has been telling people that he's coming really close to the end of his WWE career. However, since he loves the fast life, he's going to need another career to be able to maintain his lifestyle. Right now, acting appears to be his choice.

In a few weeks, Batista is scheduled to start filming a movie called "Killing Karma", which is being produced by WWE. It is being said that the company will keep him off of the road and out of the ring while he is filming the movie. A movie with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is also in the works as well for Batista.

Unless something changes, Batista is scheduled to take off at the end of April. His last match should be at the Extreme Rules pay per view.

Covering His Shift

Batista has missed quite a bit of time over the last couple of years, so WWE won't necessarily be in panic mode in regards to how to cover up for his absence.

Right now, the former WWE Heavyweight Champion is in limbo. He's listed as being an official Smackdown superstar, but he's also continuing his feud with John Cena, who is on the Raw roster.

The Raw roster is stacked with top level superstars such as Randy Orton, Triple H, and John Cena. They're going to need a top level heel, though, now that Randy Orton has made the turn. Big Show lacks excitement, Miz is not there yet, and Sheamus shouldn't be taking the lead spot anytime soon after that awful reign as champion. However, the writers will figure out something. Maybe a Triple H turn?

On the Smackdown side of things, Chris Jericho and CM Punk are more than enough to carry the show. Both of them are currently two of the best overall performers in the business. They're drawing enough heel heat to build up the babyfaces on the roster. Smackdown will be fine as well.

Cryme Tyme is Dead

Cryme Tyme has officially come to an end.

On Smackdown this week, Shad Gaspard & JTG were working a match against John Morrison & R Truth. Cryme Tyme quickly lost the match. Afterwards, fans were shocked when Shad Gaspard decided to take his anger out on his long time partner by attacking him.

During an interview later on in the show, Shad Gaspard angrily revealed that he was done with JTG and that now is his time to shine.

Cryme Tyme is no more.

Surprising Split

Most people felt that the end of Cryme Tyme would be when WWE finally decides to release both of these guys. Not too many predicted that a split was going to be the final outcome for the team.

When Cryme Tyme bursts on the scene during the fall of 2006, they immediately became one of the company's most popular acts. They were able to connect with the audience through a series of over the top skits. A future tag team title reign was predicted by all.

A year later, Cryme Tyme would be placed in a feud with Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, who were the World Tag Team Champions at the time. A real life feud evolved between the two teams. It led to an incident that started off in the ring and ended up backstage between the two teams. Management decided to side with Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, so Cryme Tyme was released from the company.

Though they were released, WWE knew that there was some high marketing value in Cryme Tyme. The company decided to bring them back in 2008.

When they initially came back, people thought that WWE was finally going to push them this time around. JTG & Shad Gaspard were even associated with John Cena in a very promising stable known as Cryme Tyme Cenation. For some unknown reason, though, the company decided to drop that idea before it had a chance to truly blossom into something big.

Even though they were given a title shot at Summerslam 2009 against Chris Jericho & Big Show, it was painfully obvious that the company had no intentions of pushing Cryme Tyme as a serious threat to the division. They were basically just fillers.

To see them being split as opposed to being released is quite a shock to most fans.

Size Matters

A few months ago, management was said to be highly disappointed in Shad Gaspard. The problem was that he simply did not improve enough during his time with the company. There was much higher expectations for Shad Gaspard than JTG.

The reason why management wanted more from Shad Gaspard is because of his size.

It's no secret that Vince McMahon loves his top stars to be "larger than life". At 6'1", JTG is far from being a small man. However, he pales in comparison to his much more muscular 6'7" partner. Shad Gaspard had a look that Vince McMahon could promote.

Management might still not be happy with his abilities in the ring. He hasn't shown much improvement since last year. He's not an awful wrestler, but he's very average in a lot of things. Shad Gaspard is good at working the audience with his mic skills and skits, but he has yet to learn to do that with his in-ring performance.

However, size does matter, so he'll get a chance to show what he can do as a singles wrestler.

4/9/2010 wwe smackdown spoiler

The show opens with a Jack Swagger promo. He said he's a changed man and for the better. He said there is not a WWE superstar that can stop his momentum.

John Morrison came out and said Swagger is still the same. He said Swager still has the same silly haircut, same stupid nickname, and the same speech impediment. This pissed off Swagger, who denied the speech issue. Swagger said Morrison is the same too and that his claim to fame is living in the shadow of The Miz.

1. Jack Swagger defeated John Morrison in a non-title match after the gutwrench powerbomb. Apparently Swagger gets a cut near the start and the ref towels his temple off twice.

A video teased that C.M. Punk would convert Darren Young to the Straight Edge Society.

Backstage Chris Jericho spoke to Wade Barrett and said he should still be World Hvt. Champion. Swagger interrupts. Jericho says just because you have the blond spikey hair, wear a suit, and have a serious demeanor, that doesn't make you Chris Jericho. It doesn't make you champion. Swagger slapped his belt and said this makes me WORLD Champion.

Shad Gaspard came out to new music and tron, but halfway down the ramp he went back and came out to Cryme Tyme's opener. Shad cut a heel promo saying it's time to TAKE what you deserve. JTG ran down but caught a boot from Shad.

2. Drew McIntyre defeated Matt Hardy. McIntyre hit a DDT on the floor and rolled him in for the pin. Much longer than last week's match.

C.M. Punk was about to save Darren Young before Young changed his mind. Young attacked Punk and then the Straight Edge Society beat up on Young until Rey Mysterio came out. Mysterio accepted Punk's previous challenge to a match at Extreme Rules. Teddy Long came out and said he doesn't think Chicago wants to wait. He announced Punk vs Rey in a street fight would start right away.

3. Rey defeated CM Punk in a street fight. A weak street fight where only a chair was used sparingly.

Caylen Croft and Trent Baretta came out and cut a promo dubbing themselves the Dudebusters.

4. The Hart Dynasty defeated Dudebusters. DH Smith won the match for his team when he applied the Sharpshooter.

Backstage Josh Matthews interviewed Dolph Ziggler. Josh asked about a sleeper last week and ended up in the sleeper himself.

Edge was warming up in his locker room when he was greeted by Jack Swagger. Edge explained how he was just like Swagger and when he cashed in MITB, he lost the title three weeks later. Edge said he'll win tonight and take the title in three weeks with the spear. Edge said "let me say it so you'll understand... I'll win it... With a sssthpear!" (mimicking Swagger's lisp).

5. Edge and Chris Jericho fight to a double countout. Both men fight into the crowd during the match. At one point it looked like Edge took a drink to the face. Edge speared Jericho and then Swagger came down and he ate a spear as well. Swagger's bit was probably off-air.

Edge cut a pro-Chicago promo putting over the Wrestling Classic tournament and saying that show made him want to perform in front of this crowd. He said next time he wrestles at the Allstate Arena, he will be the World Heavyweight Champion.
