It's been a while since we last heard him complain, but it's hard not to wonder if Carlito is really happy or not.

Is Carlito Really Happy?

For a while there, it seemed like there was a new report coming out every week about Carlito being unhappy with WWE.

He even went as far as to personally request his release from the company with Vince McMahon.

The chairman was able to convince the 2nd generation star to stick with the company, though.

Promises of a push and the potential of having his brother being promoted from developemental were two of the reasons why Carlito decided to stick around.

On the surface, it appears as if Carlito is happy. However, when you read between the lines, he might not be happy at all.

Promised Push

One of the things that you hear pretty often from wrestlers is that they become disgruntled when promises of a push aren't kept.

It happens pretty often in the wrestling industry. It's just the nature of the beast.

When Carlito was complaining about how WWE was using him, it was because he was basically stuck in the midcard without much to do.

The promised push has yet to surface.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that Carlito is being pushed right now just because he has a championship belt in his hands.

This is not what Carlito was hoping for when he asked for a push.

He wanted to be pushed as a singles star; not a tag team wrestler wearing a belt that no longer has credibility.

Brotherly Love

The most likely reason why Carlito has kept his mouth shut over the last months is his little brother.

A good big brother is one that looks after his younger siblings.

Carlito knows that there's very little chance that Primo Colon was going to be called up to the main roster if he hadn't stuck around.

He also knows that his brother wouldn't have lasted long as a singles wrestler if he was lucky enough to be called up alone.

With the global economy in poor shape right now, it's really wise for Carlito to make sure that he and his sibling remain employed.

MITB Participants

WWE has revealed that there will be 8 participants in the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania 25 pay per view.

Noble Injured

Jamie Noble suffered a stinger during his match against Mike Knox on Raw yesterday. He's said to be doing OK now.

Simmons Wrestling

Ron Simmons has been booked for an independent wrestling show in New Jersey. Gangrel and Jim Neidhart will be there as well.

Prinze Departs

Freddie Prinze Jr has left WWE. He had been working as a member of the creative department for a bit now.

In a move that doesn't come as a surprise to many people, Manu has been released by WWE.

Manu Released

On February 23, 2009, WWE decided that it was time to end their experiment with Manu.

The short lived member of the Legacy stable was released from his contract and will now sit out 90 days.

Manu, whose real name is Afa Anoa'i Jr, was signed to a WWE developmental contract in October of 2006.

After a stint as the FCW Heavyweight Champion, he was called up to the main roster in November of 2007.

Living Off The Name

For those of you that don't know, Manu is a member of the Anoa'i family, which includes Umaga, Rikishi, and the Rock.

His name value was a huge reason why he was called up to the main roster.

He was at the right place at the right time because WWE was putting a heavy emphasis on acquiring second and third generation wrestlers.

Of course, it's difficult to blame WWE for going after name value because so many fans are easily fooled into overrating a wrestler simply because his or her father was a wrestler.

It wasn't like Manu was heads and shoulders above the other developmental wrestlers.

In fact, his promotion was considered a morale killer for some of the guys in developmental.

Manu was rewarded with a spot on the main roster despite being caught for trying to cheat on a drug test.

'The Animal' hypes up Big Dome 'smackdown'

By Joey Villar Updated March 03, 2009 12:00 AM

Batista

MANILA, Philippines - “The Animal” is back.

But unlike in his last Manila visit, Batista slipped quietly into town, away from adoring fans.

“It’s nice to be back here,” said the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Fil-Am star, who is David Michael Batista, Jr. in real life, as he spoke to mediamen in a roundtable discussion hosted by JACK TV, a cable channel under Solar Entertainment, in Pasig City yesterday.

The 40-year-old Batista, a former Royal Rumble winner, four-time world heavyweight champion, three-time World Tag Team champion and WWE Tag Team winner, is in town to promote a one-show-only WWE Smackdown event slated July 10 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Batista will have a public appearance at 2:30 p.m. today at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City to drum up the upcoming event.

Tickets to the WWE Smackdown, which last held a live show at the Big Dome in October three years ago, will be on sale starting March 7 at all SM TicketNet outlets or online at www.ticketnet.com.ph.

Among the WWE stars appearing in the July event are Triple H, Edge, Umaga and Undertaker.

Batista is still recovering from an operation following a hamstring injury he sustained in WWE’s European Tour last November. He hopes to make it to the Annual Raw draft next month and compete in his best form in the Manila showdown.

“I’m over the hump, it’s been two months,” said Batista. “Physically, I’ll be able to do a comeback maybe in a month’s time. I’m still on Raw. There’s a draft after Wrestlemania so I don’t know.”

“But I hope that I will be here no matter what because of my Filipino heritage. Hope you give the guys at the WWE phone calls, letters,” he said.

Batista only learned of how severe his injury was when Randy Orton struck him in the head and knocked him down in a WWE Raw event last Dec. 15.

After 11 days, Batista, whose father is a Filipino named Dave Bautista, had to undergo surgery to repair the damage and doctors said it would need six to eight months to heal.
