King Booker Returning, Marcus Cor Von's Release, Kristal's Wedding

Submitted by Daniel Pena on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 9:56 PM EST

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

-- The belief is that King Booker (and Queen Sharmell) will return to WWE after his 60 day suspension is up. The two sides are trying to work out their issues. He isn't taking any offers for outside bookings.

-- Marcus Cor Von was released last Wednesday. He had been on a leave of absence since June. He had to stay at home to care for the children of two of his sisters. One of them recently passed away and the other one couldn't take care of both sets of kids. WWE continued to pay him his downside guarantee, but since he wasn't coming back anytime soon, WWE decided to release him from his contract.

-- According to fan reports, the crowd chanted "We Want Wrestling" during Kristal & Theodore Long's wedding at last week's SmackDown taping. Those chants were obviously edited out of the broadcast. Also, there was a long delay live because the young boy they picked to be the ring bearer didn't come out on time.

Submitted by Daniel Pena on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 4:08 PM EST

WWE Champion John Cena suffered a complete right pectoral tendon tear Monday night on Raw. Surgery is required. As a result, Cena will be out of action for 6-8 months. The injury is so severe that they're not allowing him to compete in his scheduled championship match with Randy Orton next Sunday at No Mercy. He will have no choice but to forfeit the title. Here is WWE's official statement regarding the matter:

Cena out with pec tear, must surrender WWE Championship

Written: October 2, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – WWE Champion John Cena has suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon and is heading into surgery, according to noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WWE officials will not allow Cena to compete this Sunday at No Mercy, and he will have no choice but to surrender the title.

Dr. Andrews said Cena could miss between six and eight months of action. Cena was injured during his match Monday night on Raw with Mr. Kennedy. Before visiting Dr. Andrews, Cena had said, “No matter how serious, the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.”

But despite Cena’s vow, WWE officials will not allow him to compete at No Mercy. Therefore, he must surrender the WWE Championship.

WWE officials vow that there will be a WWE Championship Match this Sunday at No Mercy and a new WWE Champion will be crowned.
