chunkyhunk
There's another feature article of that one in the March issue. Same one, but more how-to details. Here's someone at Zero G who's actually building it from scratch. http://z3.invisionfree.com/Zero_G/index.php?showtopic=5694 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3575/3328310832_1128efc45c.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3352/3328311908_7d5e343a4a.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3405/3328315944_5c56e679db.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3387/3328316476_5e12732aa5.jpg Quote Link to comment

StoneRhino
Just dabbling a little with building gunpla.I'm more of a transformers fan, but hey, robots are robots. I originally started out with the china KOs of the 1/144 endless waltz series about 8(?) years ago but the materials were too flimsy and brittle so after i finished them I just stashed them away in a shoebox somewhere. Fast forward several years later. With a better paying job and lots of free time, I got myself two of these to start off my small collection. MG 1/100 Unicorn Gundam, Ver Ka.Took me around a week to assemble this because my only tool was a nail clipper, a scalpel and fine sandpaper. The first kit I just snap built, and I am saving the second kit for when I have the skills to truly paint and give it justice.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image000-2.jpgThis is the undecal'd "normal" mode.Being plain white, it's not very visually appealing, even when I've panel-lined it a little.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image018.jpgPsycho ModeStill with no decals yet, but I was too excited to see it in action.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image020.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image028.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image031.jpgDecals, finallyThe thing with the Ver Ka gundams is, Hajime Katoki really, really likes his decals, and this one was no exception. There were two decal sheets included with this kit, all in around 2, maybe 3cm long. I had to apply them using two toothpicks and I am afraid I messed some of them up. Not too noticeable in the pics.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image044-1.jpg My workspace.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image023.jpg Some pics with his buddy, Ver Ka Crossbone Gundam and their muse, Revoltech Saber.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image039-1.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image042a.jpg And a group pic with a 1/144 Gundam 00 that I picked up while on sale.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image048a.jpg Eventually, I plan to build a collection of Ver. Ka Gundams. Next target would be the Sinaju, and the Wing Zero. I'm skipping the balls tho. Quote Link to comment
StoneRhino
The 1/100 Ground-Type Tieren is also one of my favorites. Since it's ungraded, I'd say it's somewhere between an HG and an MG. Good, solid feel to the model, and very excellent poseability and balance to it. I'm waiting for another sale so I can get some more Tierens to build an army. They're pricey at 1,700 SRP at Malls, and 1600 at greenhills. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image013-2.jpghttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/Shinjo_ed/Image016.jpgLeft to right: TFTM Brawl, Figma Kanu Uchou, G.I.Joe Scarlet, TF:A Swoop and TFTM Offroad Ironhide. chunkyhunk
Finally fixed the LED (entered it at TagCom basically lacking that mod since it broke at the last minute, and still it won 3rd place. I wonder, what if I was able to enter it with the LED). Instead of reopening the head (which I realized was impossible without damaging the head, you can see the knife marks), I decided to trim away the plastic that holds the polycap so I can access the LED contacts. As it turned out, one of the clamps bit onto the very thin wires I used before, which already got scored when I stripped the insulation off. I used 1mm koto spring units as connectors, which I realized are perfect for the mod since it "bites" onto the LED legs without the need of clamping or soldering. (Sufficed to say, I'll be using these on successive mods). http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1203.jpg I provided enough slack on the springs so the head can turn freely. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1223.jpg I used 1.5mm hollow (tubular) connectors I got from Deeco (the blue on the shoulder) as a "conduit." I drilled two holes on the backside of the Big Red's collar, allowing enough distance for the swivel/hinge, and affixed the tubes with superglue. This helps prevent the springs from sliding out of place. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1224.jpg Because it's naturally metallic black, the springs blend inconspicuously with the head assembly. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1226.jpghttp://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1227.jpg Test fit. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/BigRed.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1221.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b209/ibanag/Gundam/IMG_1222.jpg Quote Link to comment

ligtasan
Quick question: any news regarding the release of any models/gashapon of the latest gundam OO units...the units from the final season 2 episodes? Also, any thoughts about the upcoming Gundam OO movie in 2010? Quote Link to comment
chunkyhunk
Models/kits are usually released a few months after their TV debut. I actually want to have Ribbons' reversible Gundam. Aside from the 00 movie, which I believe will simply wrap up the loose ends in s2, there's also the Unicorn movie to look forward to. Quote Link to comment
