J.A.S.O.N
retirement in manila is very expensive particularly the hospitalization... better retire in the province if you have one Quote Link to comment
Wanderer101
I will stay in the province. Manila is expensive, polluted, congested and stressful. Quote Link to comment
NightWriter
Manila is the last place you'd ever be or just anywhere in the Philippines, people are dying of radiation and the pollution. You have to leave the place to get better healthcare and better benefits.Cost of living is like everywhere else, expensive and god knows how much you'd leave to your kids. Quote Link to comment
Robo Cop
its practical to retire in the provinces due to cost of living and medicine. Quote Link to comment
gyros
would be better to retire somewhere in Visayas or Mindanao...lower cost for standard of living, fresh air, fresh n cheap food and cheaper pa mag good time white people (american, germans, etc.) retire in the provinces - hell some of them even owns beach resorts or beach side resto-bars Quote Link to comment
blue+george
well, (my opinion) the best place to retire would be..... 1. baguio (outskirts) - cool climate, pine trees, fresh air, time is just infinite. quiet and whistling winds, fresh everything, veggies, fruits, air.... just an hour drive is la union, well.. a beach is nearby, just 30 minutes there's hotsprings... beach, hotsprings, massage... endless supply of girlfriends na lang kulang.... 2. tagaytay - well almost same with baguio, beaches of batangas, hotsprings of laguna, only difference would be, its just an hour (kung walang traffic!) from manila. 3. cebu - its like a better looking sister of manila. a hub for tourists, beaches, hotels, kawasan, bohol, palawan, boracay siquijor, etc. (best place if yo own a sailboat) as well. the notion of income and money. remember guys, people do survive even in the most remote villages. they have a smaller or slower economy. but if city people can invest and build from there, im sure money will become faster, better when the weight of the economy is shifted from manila to the provinces. so, make a business or invest together as a group. there is just too many things to do out there. retirement is the best hope to get there soon Quote Link to comment
MRROUGHSEX
Bro, even P25M wont get you far nkwadays Maraming mahihirap sa Pinas. I doubt they have Php100K in savings account. Quote Link to comment
MRROUGHSEX
The tricky part is where to get that retirement income! siguro if you have about P 10 to 15 million you can drop everything and retire right now, living on the interest income. If fully paid on your own home, and you are say 60 years old now, I agree Php10M is livable in Pinas, and PHp15M medyo maluwag na yan. You can't live off on interest income. It's basically PHp10M divide it by 30 years. Sure you will have the remaining undistributed money (money not disbursed for monthly retirement allowance) still invested/earning interest which further adds value towards 30 years life. MRROUGHSEX
I will stay in the province. Manila is expensive, polluted, congested and stressful. Gusto ko rin sa province. In 2 years, I will get a mortgage property somewhere in nearby provinces. Quote Link to comment
Mad Damian
If one owns his own unit, and live frugally, I think Php10M is doable for 30 years, assuming it starts this year. if people knew you hv P10M, you'd have ppl constantly knocking on your door for loans and hand outs Quote Link to comment
harlequin111
Provinces are the best places to retire into. Cebu-mactan has a lot of koreans right now. For my retirement fund, my financial advisor helps me with that. Hopefully, i could reitre debt-free and hindi pabigat kapag nagkasakit. Quote Link to comment
MRROUGHSEX
if people knew you hv P10M, you'd have ppl constantly knocking on your door for loans and hand outs Gosh, can you imagine how much more knocks if it's more than that? I remember someone else said Php25M may not even be enough. Quote Link to comment

A townhouse now costs about that much though there are units going above and beyond the Php40M range. Even the big cut condos costs Php35M. Quote Link to comment
