I already bought one coz I really want to change my old Communicator (the 9500).. The e90 ain't cut out for me, coz its another expensive phone and I am tired of carrying a "brick" all the time.. The e75 is not something to salivate for as the n97 will come out for this June.. But comparing the e75 to the n97, I'd still get the e75 because it has a keypad, the n97's key pad is touch screen based and I have that in my Omnia (I use two phones kasi).. And I really don't like it.. Hard to use if you have big fingers, IMO.. And sometimes, I also use the keypad rather than the QWERTY.. So having a keypad like the Communicator is a necessity.. If its camera is crappy at night, I really would not mind coz I have the Omnia's beautiful camera.. I also don't feel that its expensive if compared to my phones before - i.e., N9500 (48K) and the N93 (42K).. I have vowed that I won't exceed the 30K mark after I bought the Omnia for 34K.. So, the e75 is perfect for me, specs-wise (because of its ala-Communicator specs) and price-wise.. The only set-back? Yep the D-pad.. But its manageable.. remoteworld
may firmware update na ito di ba? mabagal pa rin ba yung phone?you can download new firmwares for 5800 but nokia keeps warning against that. new 5800 units come with firmware v11. the latest firmware in web is v21, but users reported it's full of bugs so i'm still stuck with v11 until nokia releases a version with less user comments, check out: http://www.symbian-guru.com/welcome/2009/0...geotagging.html(yes, geotagging is now supported in 5800 with v20 and up, but your gps should be working when you take the pics). you can download the new firmware from this site:http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-so...ate-now-with-pc inside mtc's technology and gadgets' forum, i started a subforum about gps phones which tells a lot about 5800. i'm a casual 5800 user too. i use it a lot for watching movies (avatar, 3's company episodes, etc) and reading (divine comedy, etc) during idle times (waiting in airport, etc). i find its internal gps great in wide spaces, but i always end up pairing it with a bluetooth sirfstar for extremely fast and reliable satellite reception. the latter drains the battery fast so it was necessary for me to buy an extra battery (1240 pesos in any nokia branches). i use rpmap v6, it was very helpful in my recent trip to naga, one of the cities whose streets were exhaustedly mapped out by our group. by the way, free versions of v3 are available for download: it covers all the streets of metro manila, baguio, bacolod, etc. and major roads of the whole philippines daylight photo shots of 5800 are passable. shots at dark spots turn out grainy and predominates in green. it hanged only 3 times since i bought mine last april 25th. bluetooth (gps) dispairing is common during long trips (once or twice for a distance of 120 kilometers, yup my battery hanged on that long. to my dismay, there are still only a few games available for it. my personal favorite downloaded game is TOUCH MANEUVER. after playing it for a nth time, i finished its 4 levels at 4 minutes, 5 seconds. see if you can beat that hehehe. i downloaded a trial copy marble madness (perfect for 5800's accelerometer) and was obsessed to obtain its full version. alas, all roads lead to handango.com and that software company won't allow purchases from the philippines (yeah, our country is among those blacklisted for international software piracy). hmm, gotta try asking my friends in the u.s. to do for me. there was a day i got crazy over it, so i painted an imaginary picture then uploaded a simplified version to my 5800. i made it my favorite wallpaper of home screen:you can do similarly with your favorite picture. first, downsize your pic (should be in portrait format) then transfer it to your 5800. then open Gallery/Images&Videos, select your pic, click on Option and choose it to be your wallpaper! i wasn't able to download from umobile. going to a nokia center didn't help either. so i ended up going to greenhills to get my .mp4 copy of rihanna's umbrella, etc. i also use a video converter program to convert my favorite films to .mp4 formats. i read a few years ago that converting from dvd to a lower format (like .avi or .mp4) is allowed by law as long as your dvd is not pirated. oh, yeah. one thing i noticed is that the phone is better suited for guys who prefer to call than to send messages, just like i-phone. yeah, 5800 and iphone are not suited for heavy texters. nokia 5800 doesn't have to go head-to-head with iphone. 5800 is a class of its own. and its size is just right, and so is the screen which shows the maps clear and crispy, which for me is A PERFECT ESCORT.
