I thought that was crazy but someday a whole group of crazy people will probably do the USS Enterprise in 1/72. I also remember that Tamiya and Trumpeter had advance samples of their soon to be released kits on display. Did they also do the same thing this year? hi doc, its 1/48 scale "gambier bay" aircraft carrier not 1/72 scale, i think 80% palang complete ang gambier bay. wala pa kasing mga railings at mga figures. i think only trumpeter has a test shot for thier incoming release, WWII armor and aircraft. Hmmm let's see if I can still find Zvezda'a T-70. The requirement is that you have to build it and show it to me OOB. All the other kits I will build myself! Dr_PepPeR Posted December 26, 2006 Share Posted December 26, 2006 I finally succumbed to my avarice and got the Tamiya Char bis, DML Half-track and Puma. Was looking at Academy's 1/48 CH-53 but I doubt if I could sneak that past the wife. I'm currently building Zvezda's 1/35 T-26. Surprisingly, it's not as bad as I expected, minimal fit problems so far. Sink marks in the suspension and four piece hull are my complaints so far. Have to see how well the vinyl tracks will fit. There have been many debates on realism versus artistic license. Try searching the net for Hyperscale, Missing Links, Aircraftresourcecenter, Armorama, Large Scale Planes, Track Links, Perth Military Modeling Society to name a few. I tried to stretch one prior to dry fitting them over the roadwheels but I just managed to snap them in two. So now one set of tracks is in four pieces #$%@^*@$!!! I have no choice except to try to staple them together and try to hide the joins. Looks like this will not make it to this year's IMPS contest. Thanks for the info re: Toys R Us. Just passed by Winston's shop (again) this afternoon. Was just window shopping since I don't have the time to build kits. Felt like a diabetic in a candy store. Anyway, he has AMT/ERTL kits as well as Finemolds and Fujimi. Was just wondering how his prices would compare. I used to order from HLJ and if I order the kits two at a time, it's usually cheaper by P100 to P200 than buying from Winston. BTW, Jsenti, Special Toys has a Fujimi Tommi Makinen Edition Lancer Evolution VII, in case you're interested. It's not an EVO 6, but would a 7 do? According to a friend, whose Tamiya Sprayworks broke down a few years ago, the rubber seals inside cracked so it couldn't pump air. He wasn't able to get it repaired. Your unit might have the same problem. If so, there's a custom rubber manufacturer in Mandaluyong before. I'm not sure if they're still open. If they are, you can have a custom seal made for your unit. Please check the yellow pages under "rubber", "rubber seals" or "seals". Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment
