johnlove
Automatics are the best choice for our lousy drivers, why?1) Eliminates clutch riding - kasi walang clutch2) slower acceleration - eliminate jack rabbit starts, minimize cutting. Quote Link to comment
federicuger
its less stressful to drive in metro manila with an automatic, and my brain is less likely to overload when im pissed drunk when im in an automatic Quote Link to comment

tam2
I have both an automatic and a manual. Which is better? Neither. Because I also have a CVT, a perfect fusion of both. I love CVTs. Quote Link to comment
johnlove
How is CVT better? Quote Link to comment

tam2
How is CVT better? Conventional and old A/Ts are notoriously gas guzzlers because they are a bit dumb and spends a lot of time gear-hunting. If an engine is in a wrong gear, obviously it'll consume more gas. Plus, it doesn't give you any confidence especially when trying to overtake a vehicle. Newer A/Ts have significantly improved and are much more intelligent BUT on tricky situations, will still hunt for gears, especially on uphill, accelerating climb. Plus the fact that shiftshocks can be felt while tranny changes gears. Also, these A/Ts have to rely on torque converter where significant engine power is lost. CVTs doesn't have any of these problems. It has infinite number of gear ratios, changing constantly, adapting to the road and rev condition. No gear hunting. And no shift shocks. No torque converter and engine is as responsive as manual. And if these isn't enough, CVTs can be converted to a clutchless manual all in a press of a button, (disadvantage, now there's shift shock, consumption is worse; advantage, it gets even more responsive) D(rive) is still the bes position to save fuel. The S(ports) mode is introduced, high, perky revs. No more D3, D2, D1. So with CVT you get to enjoy the responsiveness of a manual and the comfort of an A/T. Quote Link to comment

CVT or semi-automatic or tiptronic in some german cars can indeed be the best of both worlds, esp if shifting can be done with paddles, feeling F!, in some cars tho like the citi i tyhink button up and down siya, sa others plus or minus sa stick. pero personally iba talaga sensation ng manual. rickgonzales
kpag daily driving mas ok ang matic dahil relax sa pagmamaneho..pero kapag gusto ng may malakas ng konti na arangkada..manual pa rin Quote Link to comment
danbrown
i learned to drive in chevy impala, automatic V8. have had some manuals since, but since early 90s, changed cars a few times, always had automatics. my wife drives an auto sedan (cant drive manual) , i drive an automatic all time-4wheel drive para pwede kami palitan. mas convenient, and less tiring to drive. tam2
Thanks, which model has the sports mode? Honda City 1.5 VTi, but even the 1.3 iDSI has the S mode. Sports mode gives you a higher rev than usual, making it more responsive and gives you a push on acceleration. The gears are: DriveSportsLow Both D and S can be driven using the CVT orthe 7 Speed automatic orthe 7 Speed Manual. So, technically I have seven kind of transmission in this thing (R not counted.). Really versatile. Quote Link to comment
morrissey_05
manual. i prefer to deliver the power to the engine myself. adds to the pleasure of driving. Quote Link to comment
kidyot214
before manual coz i use to race(drag) but given the road conditions ngaun dagdag mo pa trapik... matic na! (better kung diesel, kasi kung gas tapos matic eh mamumulubi tayo dyan!) :upside: Quote Link to comment
