Before only real men could drive and there was no need for automatics. But the US and the world is now becoming feminized so car manufacturers responded to this huge untapped market of women and gays who can't drive by making more automatics.

Automatic- Its easier to drive at di masakit ang katawan after a long drive. I don't like to shift gears and make kambio all the time.
