Hi,

I have over 150 originals (mostly purchased from astroplus/amazon/or from big sales in the US).

I have one question, I've recently been buying from metrowalk (the better packaged ones with the flap), why are they of better quality than the most of the dvds I buy in Astroplus or the US??

Cheers,

Scott

Not all DVDs are of the same quality.. There are even pirated versions better than those being sold at Astro or even in the US.. The reason is that there are low-end (also called budgeted) DVDs that do not offer better picture, or sound (just in mono) and have no special features.. When I was new in collecting movie discs, I bought a Hardball original DVD from Astro worth 100 bucks.. I thought that this was a good copy because its original, I got surprised when I played it, because the sound sucked and even the picture.. Kaya pala mura..

Pirated DVDs as you know are called copies di ba? Some pirated DVDs are copied from better or high end original DVDs.. Some piraes also use good discs (DVD 9s for one) to copy original DVDs..

An example of a better pirated DVD is the Sin City movie.. The disc being offered in Astro is of lower quality than the pirated DVD that I have.. 2 disc pa yung akin and has tons of special features.. And also offers a DTS surround sound..

I assume that the ones you bought in Metrowalk are pirated copies.. Sabi mo kasi with the flaps.. These are China-made pirated DVDs and are usually copied from good copies.. Karamihan ngayon sa mga ito ay DVD9's or even Blu-Ray or High Def copies..

Pardon my ignorance, what's R3 DVD?

Region 3.. DVDs from the Asian Region..

R1 naman, DVD's from the States.. Region 1 naman tawag dito..
