Unplugged became fashionable in the 90s. Some of the acoustic hits were:

More Than Words - Extreme

Hole Hearted - Extreme

Plush (acoustic) - Stone Temple Pilots

All Apologies - Nirvana

Layla - Eric Clapton

I'll Be There - Mariah Carey

MTV was the proponent of several Unplugged albums that sold quite well.

Ahhh, the 90's. the birth of the Seattle grunge scene and the death nail of the 80's popular metal genre. All you have to have is an overly feedbacked guitar, lousy songwriting skills and three chord patterns and you're all set for fame and fortune. Well, I would say that band today are lousier than the grunge bands in the 90's. All they ever play now are revivals. So I would say that the 90's bands are still better than these morons we have in the music scene today.

You're f#&kin' right dude!

peace!

Yeah, I think that grunge died too soon because it caught on too soon. Tipong ningas kogon ba, so to speak. I think it was the epityome of the 90's soundscape. I wouldn't be surprised if grunge would make a comeback anytime soon. i would really welcome it instead of all these idiots plagueing our music scene right now. I miss artists like Alice in Chains, Bush, pearl Jam and even Nirvana. Kurt Cobain was the lousiest guitar player I've ever heard, my opinion. But he sings and writes with so much passion that it makes up for his shortcomings. It's a shame that the music industry had to lose such a great artist who I believe was THE icon of the 90's.

@zakkwylde: I hope grunge won't make a comeback. Ayokong mababoy ang genre na ito, e.g. The Killers New Wave daw, e more of emo band naman sila.

You forgot to mention Soundgarden and Silverchair, hehehe..pero seriously, Bush a grunge band?

peace!

With the noise pollution generated by emo bands and local boybands with guitars flooding the airwaves, napipilitan tuloy akong pagtyaggaan and Bon Jobos at GnR, hmmph!

pakingshet!

Hmmmm, yeah, I guess you're right. If grunge would make a comeback, gagaguhin lang yun ng mga bands ngayon. If it was the same artists we had back in the 90's then that would be great. I would say Bush was a grunge band. They did employ the same musical formula that pearl jam ang STP did. Oh yeah, I forgot about Silverchair and more importantly Soundgarden. They were a force to reckon with back in the 90's. Oh, well, ganun talaga. Gone are the days.
