Tsunami^
Happy New year po, My prob is this: I have an Intel Pentium 4 2.6Ghz 512MB and a 40 Gig hard disk. Suddenly my PC can not boot up anymore and I am thinking if it is a virus attached. I decided to reformat it and installed succefully the windows xp pro OS. When the computer was booting for the 1st time it hung at the welcome remarks but the weird thing is i can move the cursor of the mouse so it is impossible that the computer hungs. I waited almost 2 hours but no positive sign. I tried resetting it and still not booting up. I also tried booting in safe mode and fortunately the computer boot up but using safe mode. I tried restrting again anf the my pc still doesn't boot up. it still black but i can move the cursor. I tried replacing a new memory and a new hardrive and reinstalling again the whole xp installation, and was fully installed XP succesfully. When it will boot up for the 1st time it hung again to the getting started and won't go through the normal boot up. I also tried booting at safe mode and I can go in. when I restarted the pc it still won't boot. but my mouse was able to move. is it with cmos prob? please help. Thanks :mtc: Make sure that there are no external components installed in your PC (Printer, iPod, USB Drive) including the ethernet cable when installing the Operating System. If that still does not work, you may very well have a bad Operating System CD, Quote Link to comment

Kung ayaw talaga and it is possible that it might be a bootsector virus, do a low level format on the HDD, 40 gig naman yan eh. Try and research on how to do an MS-DOS debug script. chapsuey01002
Thanks po. I don't have any external components installed in my pc when i'm installing the OS. and I am using new hard disk and memory now and already reinstall the OS using differnt CD installer of XP succesfully. When it is booting for the first time it doesn't go through the normal boot up. it stays in black but you can see the cursor of the mouse and if you move your mouse it moves. so it is not hanged. but if you boot using safe mode you can able to log in. In safe mode i was able to change the display settings. im thinking that the video card was causing problems to boot up. but after i restarted it's still not booting up.. sumasakit na ulo ko sa pc ko. huhu. anu po kaya ang problem? This is very challeging for me..peace:mtc: EDIT LANG, MALI ASSESSMENT KO HEHE: Make sure that there are no external components installed in your PC (Printer, iPod, USB Drive) including the ethernet cable when installing the Operating System. chewie
hi. about a week ago, my os crashed. when i restarted, it came up with the message: failed loading os. tried several times but to no avail. so ok, time to buy a new hdd. when finished installing in my new hard drive, i asked my friend to help me retrieve my files from my old hd. the problem is that the computer detects the drive but says that it's not formatted. is there a way for me to retrieve my files? thanks.
