If you want to do europe on a budget, don’t do a tour group. Just do a little research and do it on your own. From my experience, you get more from your travels if you are not part of a tour group. On on tour group, your time at each location is limited by what the tour company allotted.

This past May, we were supposed to visit Southern Spain, Gibraltar, the Algarve in Portugal and then Morocco. This got cancelled due to covid19. The plan was to fly to Malaga, Spain, rent a car and drive to the places we wanted to in Spain, Gibraltar and the Algarve. Then, we return the rented car, bus to Algeciras, Spain, ferry to Morocco and rent a car again when we arrive in Morocco. Current regulations do not allow you to drive a rented car from Spain to Morocco. The plan was carefully researched and most of hotel stays were already booked. Unfortunately, covid19 showed up and spoiled our plan.

A month tour in Europe on our own in 2018. Germany(Frankfurt, Cologne, Bonn, Munich, Berlin), Czech Rep (Prague), Austria (Vienna, Salzburg), Italy (Venice, Florence, Pisa, Rome, Milan), Vatican, Switzerland (Zurich, Lucerne), France (Colmar, Strasbourg, Paris, Versailles), Netherlands (Amsterdam) with a brief stop over in Brussels, Belgium. Mid March to mid April, started in Germany and ended in France. Late winter in Bavaria was still very snowy and very cold. As we go along, the weather was getting warmer. By the time we were in France and Netherlands, it was early spring. Tulips were abloom in Amsterdam, and Paris was already green with a lot of blooms, specially in the Luxembourg Gardens.

I love going around Spain. Food is cheap, wine is cheap, etc. surprisingly lots of Filipinos working there. In Madrid and Barcelona some Restos had Filipino wait staff.

This is so true! Even the cafe at Retiro park had two Pinoy waiters.

We've met Filipino chefs in Spain and are living there for 30 years now with their families. Even the cooks in many restos are Pinoys.

In France, Paris and Lyon-there are Pinoy cooks as well. But in Italy, Pinoys are almost everywhere too- Rome, Cinque Terre, Avezzano, Napoli, Milan, Palermo, Venice, Bologna (the cities I have visited).
