Resistance Training Guidelines

For this month, we will give you the some important resistance training guidelines.

· Perform 5 to 10 exercises that train the major muscle groups like the back. legs, chest and shoulders.

· Workouts should be kept at 45 minutes or shorter. Drop out rates are frequent with long workouts (e.g. more than an hour).

· Favour multi-joint exercises (aka compound exercises like squats, bench press etc.) which utilise more muscles with fewer exercises

· Begin with a 5-10 minutes general warm-up like brisk walking or cycling. This is followed by the stretching of the muscles and connective tissues.

· Perform one to three set of 8 to 12 repetitions to the point of positive failure. If you are engaging in more serious training with heavy poundage, always perform warm-up 1-2 sets of the same exercise with a lighter weight first. This will reduce the risk of getting yourself injured and prepare your mind and muscles for the heavier load that follows

· A workout routine can be structured to train the whole body in the same session or you can split the body-parts (e.g. chest and back together) into separate sessions.

· Exercise 2-3 days per week on non-consecutive days. More rest days may be necessary if you are training hard.

· Perform all the exercises through a full range of motion and in a controlled fashion.

· Exhale when you perform positive action (e.g. lifting action when doing curls or pulling action when doing pull-down exercise) and inhale when you return the load to the starting position.

· Training with a partner can be beneficial for motivation and assistance.

· Training is just part of the equation, the other areas you must not neglect are the rest and proper nutrition.

as far as I can remember... only 15% of the cholesterol is being absorbed by the body from the food intake. But it is mostly produced by the body as a stored energy, if my memory serves me right..

so better yet, take reagular exercise and controll the amount of food you intake. know whats good and whats npt, and take those who are easily digested by the body, don't stave your self, coz the body intends to store more if the feel that yuou dont have enough.

i'm in my 40s, 150 lbs. weight train at least 3x a week. do my share of cardio exercises usually a 3km run 2 to 3x a week..

in the last 10 years i've competed in amateur cycling and running events (5k and 10k) and duathlon (combine cycling and running competition)..sad to say, in the last 5 years, despite my active lifestyle. my cholesterol level has been increasing. last year it was a 260 prior to that it was at 235. I am not yet on medication and I hope that my doctor wont tell me that i should be on it.

i eat sensibly, drink on occasion. i'm a cigar smoker (1 to 2 cigars a day). i am due for my annual physical exam next week and i wont be surprised if my cholesterol is at 260 or higher.

heart disease runs in our family coupled by a pretty stressful work environment.

for those with high cholesterol, try to maintain a reasonable HDL and LDL ratio usual 1:3. HDL is good and LDL is bad cholesterol.

kung mataas na ang cholesterol level mo, bawas ka sa pagkain ng mga animal products. sa hayop kasi nakukuha ang cholesterol. 2 klase ang cholesterol - good and bad. ang good cholesterol are yung omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. marami yan sa mga isda. tuna and salmon are rich sources...bad cholesterol siyempre yung mga taba at balat ng hayop.

regular exercise decreases your bad cholesterol level and at the same time increases your good cholesterol level.

hi guys,

traydor ang cholesterol, kpag mga above 40's ka, delikado kn tlaga for it spcially women.

imagine yung blood vessels mo sa leeg yung pinakamliliit, tpod yung cholesterol, unti unting bumabalot sa daanan ng dugo so yung inner diameter ng ugat mo lumiliit...tpos ayun one day inatake k ng stroke...paralized kn ngyn..

tpos yung mga statin drugs pa, buy 1 take 2,

yung take 1, papababain yung cholesterol level mo, pero ang kapalit nuon, unti unting sisirain yung liver and kidney mo...kapg ndi namonitor yung toxicity level mo, magpapadialysis ka n nman, dagdag cost...

buti nlang i know of a doctor na nakatulong sa lola ko, yung pina take nya sa lola ko mganda, galing p daw U.S. bumaba tlag yung cholesterol nya without the side effects, if u want to know kung saan yung clinic and kung ano yung gamot, just pm me or u may call me at 7766888 loc 27 or 09154004270

my cholesterol level used to be 286, which was the main reason I started dieting and exercising. But pag hereditary, wala kang magagawa. After all that, the best it went down to was 250, so the doctor started me on Lipitor 40 mg. He told me to take it for 3 months then come back. I've got another month to go before my next check up.

substituting fish and seafoods to meat is sure way to lower your cholesterol levels...

a change in cooking oil or the removal of cooking oil altogether in diet can also help.

its best to stay in a vegetable and fruit diet, with soy based foods as alternates.
