bubuy
i was hoping pacman would keep mum re: mayweather until after the cotto fight. that was too much too ask. Pacquiao: Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn't want to fight me Quote Link to comment
erasthai
i wonder if pacman will defend his ibo title.. ----- IBO calls on Pacquiao to defend titleAgence France-Presse | 10/30/2009 10:11 AM CORAL GABLES - The International Boxing Organization has issued a challenge to Manny Pacquiao to defend his junior welterweight title or risk being stripped of the crown. The IBO said Thursday that the 32-year-old Filipino has 10 weeks to decide whether to defend the title he won in May from Ricky Hatton. Pacquiao is scheduled to fight Miguel Cotto in a mega welterweight bout in Las Vegas on November 14. The IBO title is the only current belt Pacquiao holds. "Manny Pacquiao was notified that he will be given time to decide whether to defend his championship at 140 pounds or vacate the title," said IBO president Ed Levine said. "He is still well within his time requirements to make a title defence in the weight class. So, we'll allow him a chance to decide and notify us." Pacquiao, of General Santos City, is 49-3-2 with 37 knockouts and is unbeaten since a losing to Erik Morales in 2005. According to IBO rules, "all champions, with the exception of the heavyweight champion, shall defend their title at least once every nine months unless medically excused for valid cause and/or at the sole and absolute discretion of the IBO." Pacquiao has one previous fight at welterweight, scoring a technical knockout win over Oscar De La Hoya last year. Since turning pro 14 years ago he has competed at least once in every weight class from junior flyweight (108 pounds) to lightweight (135 pounds), Quote Link to comment
solicitor
Im hoping that Cotto would enter the ring at least 160lbs so can beat the hell out of Manny Pacquiao!!! Quote Link to comment
hopia_mani_papkorn
Hehe .. It's possible ... by fight night .. they will be back to their real fighting weight ... With so many stories being said about our very own Manny .. come fight night .. it would be a different story .. Some may say that he hasn't trained enough .. or some might say because of so many distractions .. Manny has nothing more to prove .. A fighter who came all the way from flyweight .. then becomes a lightweight champion should not be taken for granted .. I think the 140 range is "safe" for Manny since he doesn't need to fast .. he just have to tone his body up to the day of the bout .. He is not getting any younger .. so shedding off those extra pounds would sometimes be catastrophic to some fighters ... Manny is the hottest ticket around .. So he has nothing to lose and everything to gain ... MANNY = MONEY .. Quote Link to comment
Richmond
Pacquiao allowed himself to be used by politicians due to his lack of education and sudden rose to fame he is quite vulnerable to be exploited. Hope he won't follow the path of former champions like Rolando Navarette and Luisito Espinosa to name a few. Quote Link to comment
Palakol
i just came from the Wild Card and i watched Manny train. he's sharp as ever, and i doubt he slacked off in training like people say for publicity's sake. i've never seen hands move that fast. Quote Link to comment
bubuy
Quote Link to comment
uaeboy25
I have to agree on this...all this time about the stories of disctractions and lack of training, para lang sa hype ng laban , gumanda tayaan, remember the 2 fighter are Bob arum's fighter, where is the money ??? pag natalo si pacman? of course wala? ...big money if manalo si pacman....for sure next fight would be gayweather ....mega mega fight, rainfall of money for bob arum....my 2 cents Quote Link to comment
LYCHEE
as usual, manny's hand-speed vs. cotto's power punches will spell the difference...kahit pa lamang ng 1 inch ang kamao ni cotto. Quote Link to comment
