First, let me tell you that I am a BIG Manny Pacquiao fan. I am however not averse to calling a spade a spade. As to Manny's excuse, let me tell you this, I covered sports (as a reporter) for maybe 10 years (?); and let me tell you now that NO ONE actually loses these matches without an excuse. Heck, I've heard one marathoner complain that the reason he lost was because he got tired! (hehehe... konting exageration lang pre). For Manny to beat Marquez, he needs to overwhelm the guy. This is one fighter he can not outbox. If you notice, Manny is not too keen in meeting the guy again (Marquez being the champion and all). This is one fight that Manny does not want to fight (if he can help it). He'd rather slug it out with Valera (the tricycle driver demolisher). Pero, sa ngayon inisin talo muna ni Manny. Great psychological ploy. Manny is the main draw. He gets to pick and choose his opponents. Hey, even the lightweights are now "excited" over the news that Manny might be moving up. brawler201 Posted October 9, 2007 Share Posted October 9, 2007 JMM is a bad fight because of the contrasting styles. He's not even a top draw. The only thing going for him is his belt. But Pacquiao can go after the lesser title holders in the 130 lbs. division if he is only after belts (I want him to get one at 130 lbs. to make him the first Asian to get three world titles in different weight classes). At this point, boxing is not only about heart, blood and guts for him, it's also a business (that's why he wants to fight 3-4 top draw fights a year for the next 2-3 years). And JMM is definitely bad for business. Pacquiao doesn't have to prove anything anymore. He's been at the bottom of the pecking order already and already paid his dues. Bring on the next cash cow. Takot sya lumaban kay Marquez eh... it's actually the other way around... si Marquez ang umiiwas kay Pacman. matagal na pinipilit ang rematch nila, ang daming dahilan ni Marquez para di nya kalabanin si Manny. gaya din sya ni Barrera noon. sabi nya pag nanalo si Manny kay Morales kakalabanin nya si Pacquiao, nung nanalo na si Pacquiao, ibang Pacquiao dawe ang hinahamon nya, si Bobby Pacquiao daw ang sinasabi nya. pero wala din napilitan na sya labanan si Manny para bago sya mag-retire madami syang pera. We just hope Pacquiao will not be distracted by the celebrity status he is now in. He got only a good couple of years ahead of him and he is not getting any younger. darksoulriver Posted October 10, 2007 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Much better to move at lightweight rather stay sa superfeatherweight. on the last weight-in vs barrera, Pacman looks exhausted at umamin na hirap syang kunin yung 130 lbs limit. Boxer's at 130lbs wla na syang mapapala dhil almost wlang pera ang kalaban. If sa lighweights a better future for the Pacman...
