it's in the news today, Marc Antonio Barrera choose to fight Jesus Chavez instead of a rematch with Manny Pacquiao. Insiders said if Barrera chooses to sign in with a Pacquiao rematch would consider it a career suicide. It looks like the Barrera-Pacquiao rematch would take a long time to materialize.

The so called Pacquiao victory celebration is nothing but a reflection of how rotten Philippine society is. Those vulture like politicians roaming around him is sickening to say the least. The first gentleman whispering sweet nothings to his wife on national television almost made me vomit. Chavit Singson bragging about his bet ( 20 million pesos daw) while the poor ilocano tobacco farmers continue to languish in poverty is distasteful. The guy should be in prison together with his former pal ERAP for god's sake!!! and yet ... there he was enjoying his stay in a 5 star hotel in the company of many other corrupt politicos. While people are busy in anticipation of this "battle", Shell and the rest of the oil companies increased prices of petrolium products whis is another blow to Juan Dela Cruz   . While enjoying the euphoria of "winning" a DH abroad ( which by the way are the real heroes of this great nation) is about to be beheaded and his father cant get there because according to DFA, we have no money!!!! How ironic!!! Senator Lapid and almost half of congress have the gull to spend an enormous amount of money to watch the fight and yet our government cannot provide a round trip ticket to a grieving OCW father. :thumbsdownsmiley: The domination of media mogul ABS-CBN stopping other smaller networks and media outlets of what is supposed to be a "fight for our nation" is another example of class A1 injustice.

But the saddest thing is that the Pacman is not only the willing victim of this hypocracy....but the main player. To me , his statement about he fought first and foremost for the country is hypocracy at its highest form. His call for unity is as bullshit as they come.Tell it to the marines pacman boy!!! If he is really after the unity of our people, he should not have given ABS-CBN exclusive rights to his fight because that alone has caused a massive divisiveness. He should stop acting like a hero and a saviour because he is not. Stop rubbing elbows with these politicians. Just concentrate on fighting in the ring and avoid all of those "makabayan pa epek". He just bought a car in the US and is planning to bring it here. Im sure we will not charge him its corresponding tax because he is a HERO!!!

Manny Pacquiao Phenomenon is nothing but a "short live fantasy" that consumes the psyche of the Filipino People...........being fed by the media and the government especially to the poor.... to give us temporary ecstacy!!! Its like a sweet pill to make us forget the bitter reality that confronts our society. This government will suck this issue up to the very end......they will continue to feed us moments of victory....Senator Revilla is even proposing a non working holiday to welcome the PACMAN which is both unfair ( to other winning athletes )and absurd (but what can you expect from an absentee senator)........Its like those dementors in Harry Potter movies(in reverse) ....they will feast on the newfound happiness of our people.....to make us forget the real issue on hand.......the harsh reality of poverty, inequality and a corrupt government. PWEH :thumbsdownsmiley:

Care to go 5 rounds with me? Pamapapawis lang and feed you all the bullshit youve been writing here.

To everyone else. Pacman is definitely a sportshero, as long as he's winning, but once father time catches up on him, it's all downhill from thereon end.

Magtrabaho kayo!

Hey solicitor! Read Kilawin's response to your post. You've just been challenged. :D :P

Can't we just all be friends and agree to disagree?

Walang demandahan pagkatapos. Abugado yata si SOLICITOR judging from his nick.

DING! DING!..Seconds Out!!...

wats the matter with solicitor's comments? truth hurts? for me, i agree on most of his points. oo nga naman. on some, may mga bagay na di naman talaga kasalanan ni manny. It's circumstances, anjan sya sa sitwasyon na ang hirap tumanggi na magamit. Anyway, u rly hit the mark regarding the opportunist politicians and couldnt say it better on how rotten our society is, whether its victory or a dismal loss.

Roach sees no early Pacman-Morales III

Inquirer

LOS ANGELES -- Speaking of immediate prospects, trainer Freddie Roach said Manny Pacquiao would “rest in Manila, fight two more fights this year, while waiting for Morales to be ready next year.”

That means there would be no Pacquiao-Morales III this year, although Marco Antonio Barrera has again loomed big as a next opponent.

These details were gleaned from an interview conducted by the GMA-7 team that joined Pacquiao when he made a triumphant return to the Wild Card Gym Tuesday from his conquest of Erik Morales last Saturday.

Pacquiao was scheduled to depart yesterday evening for Manila, where he is expected on Friday morning, local time.

“Pacquiao will fight two fights this year, but Morales won’t be ready until eight months or maybe a year,” GMA-7 cameraman Greg Gonzales quoted Roach as saying.

Pacquiao, in a blue shirt, discussed immediate plans with Roach during the brief visit where the boxing superstar was hailed by a big group that included his

countrymen, the staff and boxers working out in the gym.

The Battle, the second clash between the ring rivals, could’ve been an eliminator for the WBC super featherweight boxing title held by Barrera.

But Pacquiao had told the Inquirer he refused the WBC proposal because of the $50,000 sanction fee being imposed by the world boxing body.

“Eliminator lang, hindi bale kung championship (This was not even the championship),” Pacquiao had protested.

Of course, as holder of the WBC International title, reserved for fighters rated 11th and above by the association, Pacquiao also has the right to immediately challenge Barrera for the 130-pound crown proper.

There was a rematch clause in the contract of the Battle, but promoters had to momentarily junk this due to the severe punishment suffered by Morales, who was rushed to the hospital for a check-up after the humiliating loss to Pacquiao.

Olympian Zahir Raheem, who had beaten Morales last September, did not figure in the Roach-Pacquiao conversation.

Among those who greeted Pacquiao in his triumphant return to Wild Card was Mexican boxing great Bobby Chacon. He kissed the RP hero and had a photo taken with Pacquiao, also known as the Mexican Assassin here.

It looks like Morales is really out of the picture for this year. I hope Barrera finds his balls and faces Pacquiao withinn the year.

Side note on the article, for the really young ones who didn't witness boxing during the early '80's (I was still young then, I just got into fight watching really early..), Bobby Chacon was part of a division that was one of the most exciting during the period which was a lot to say considering that this was the period of the glorious heavyweights and welterweight-middleweights with Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns and Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Chacon fought in the fabled Jr.Lightweight/Super Featherweight division that featured a slew of exciting and heavyhitting boxers that included Rafael "Bazooka" Limon, Cornelius "Boza" Edwards, Hector "Macho" Camacho and our very own Rolando "Bad Boy" Navarrete.

pacquiao - barrera hindi na matutuloy, barrera signed for a fight with marquez(forgot the name). Iniiwasan nya ata tlaga c Pacquiao, jinustify nya pa ung pag sign nya ng contract, saying that if ever he wins sa fight na to, sya ang kauna unahang mexican na humawak ng belt in 4 different weight class.

if i know, takot lang sya sa sinapit ni morales
