need advise, don't know which is the problem, i have a soundcard CMI8738 installed, driver installed, during startup there is sound all way up to all the icons have shown up, ok naman but when I play counterstrike no sound, "hang" after clicking play cs, nba 2004 no sound, ragna "audio init failed", all other games no sound.
if your using WinXP then this is a driver issue with the CMI soundcard.try to search the net for alternative drivers for your CMI8738,google is a good start.

when i boot up, my pc keeps doing a 'checking NVRAM' thing, how can I speed this/ remove this/correct this coz it takes a few seconds and it didnt do it before
if your using an onboard video card then i guess you'll have to live with it.

bka u mean pano madelete ang shareware/apps na meron ads? u could use adware to delete those ads,just go through the menu and most probably you'll remove them.

for you people waiting for doom3 better stick with your geforce cards. id software just came out with some benchmark testing for nvidia and ati cards. nvidia was found to have better framerate than ati. better stick with your nvidia if you want to play doom3. here's the article from [H]ard|OCP.
if you want to go OpenGL(Doom3,etc.) - nvidia is the way to go.
for DirectX 9(Farcry,Half-life2,etc) - go ati
if ati will only implement a dual precision pipeline(16bit and 24bit) then they will be head to head with nvidia on opengl.but guess what... they dont.so ati will burn nvidia only on directx games,not on opengl.

You would think that with this system, all would be well with my gaming but guess what? It can only play Far Cry at its lowest video settings without experiencing chopiness. To all the techies out there, do you think adding more memory would make a difference?

i use Opera and Netscape.
i only use netscape if i cant open websites with opera
will try out firefox...
btw im using opera since version 3.xx on a 486 computer with 16MB memory

Yeah Im an AMD fan. I'll be using this P4 business desktop for internet and office work. it's not suitable for gaming coz i need to transfer it to another casing just so that my Radeon 9800Pro will fit in it. I can only use geforce FX here..which are not exactly as half as good as my radeons are.
my other rig...upcoming pa lang is an ABIT NF7-S 2.1, Barton 2500 and 1Gb PC3200 Ram. That is where i can put my ATI Radeon 9800pRo to work. It will be my gaming rig. All games no apps. hehhee. All apps will be handled by the P4.
the AFX is great but it is too expensive for its purpose at the moment. maybe pag bumaba na prices hehhee
wait for AMDFX n magmura... ive read mglalabas sila ng 512KB cache version and lower GHz.. mas mura ito at malamang suabe nnman s OC!!!
nice yung abit nf7-s,try getting a mobile barton meron p yata s tipidpc.com nito.mas maganda mgOC yng mobile barton,nkabili ako ng Mobile Barton 2500+(1.862GHz) at n OC ko ito hangang... anyways sobrang sulit sya :cool: go AMD!!

we use to own an ECS K7S5A, pwede n pang mild overclocking.U cud flash the BIOS para dumami ang default FSB mo: 100Mhz,111Mhz,122Mhz,133Mhz. not sure kng yan nga yun pero im pretty sure n pagunang revision yng mobo mo malamang 100Mhz at 133Mhz lang ang supported nya FSB so you have to flash para masaya
