  2. mga chong, it seems u guys know alot about PC specs, tulungan nyo naman ako...

wala ko masyado alam sa specs eh...

im plannin to assemble a PC, I plan to explore and study video editing

and graphic design so i need specs that will suit the things i wana do

    salamat

dude for video editing/graphics processing go for intel P4. hintayin mo lumabas sa pinas yung 600 series nila, this series supports the Windows XP x64 version(64bit).

im not that familiar sa intel P4 motherboards eh, i guess you may want to post your question here.

pero kung hindi naman ganon ksa intensive sa rendering you may want to try Athlon64, also supports Windows XP x64 version - and runs much cooler compared to P4s. Athlon64 runs faster on games, you may want to check this link for Pentium 4(600series) and Athlon64 benchmarks.

  3. A lot of the posts seem to be about hardware issues. Has anyone had frustrations about making the switch from Yahoo!/hotmail to Gmail?

I find it to be so cumbersome. I noticed that you had to insert contacts first and then compose your message. Otherwise, you must know in advance who the e-mail is for. I haven't really tinkered with it yet and will take some time getting used to.

Oh, well. I just expected it to be a lot easier. Google says it's 'the Gmail Way'. I think not. Sheesh.

i agree, kinda cumbersome interface... btw i only 'use' gmail for repository purposes. :hypocritesmiley:

  4. hey guys, whats a "windows protection error"

  7.  Tenks!

It's a gaming machine for the most part! My GF complains that it's just an expensive Playstation!

I do have multimedia editing capabilities and two DEV programs for two games. Other than that, if you're just surfing the net with this monster, you're using it all wrong. It preffers fragging people on-line.

Anyone else builds gaming machines here?

i used to have a decent midrange gaming machine but ive downgraded na coz of the cost of upgrading ur system every now and then. :(

  8. Hmmm, if you plan to get a good set of speakers, I honestly suggest you go with the new Logitechs now. Altec Lansing's current speakers releases leave much to be desired. I like my satellites to be full bore drivers, not dinky two inch tweeters. I've used a lot of speakers and honestly, no PC speakers has yet to beat the ACS 621 in terms of pure music quality (except  maybe the Promedia 2.1s pero thats another story). Sad to say, Altec Lansing no longer makes speakers the way they used to. Logitech however, has been slowly improving their product line, with the Z series getting much better. I'd suggest you get the Z-5300. Not sure if those have optical inputs though. Pero i've listened to them personally and man, be ready to have some tissue paper on hand. You'll piss once you hear these babies play. The bass response is unreal, masakit sa dibdib, hehehehehe! And they only sell for a little over 10K. If i werent such a gamer, I'd be gotten these instead of having purchased a 9800XT a few months back

Ill hunt down a review, teka lang...

the z-5300 doesnt have digital inputs. we are deciding on either z-5300 or the z-680.however there is a new model z-5500(almost same specs as z-680) but im not sure if it is locally available.we havent auditioned any of the speakers mentioned above but from what i read they are very good spearkers. :)

  10. sago: yup, soundstorm is waaaaay better than a dinky SB Live. It is somewhat better than the Audigy, but only in terms of the fact that it has DOLBY ICE. But other than that, the Audigy is better overall for a gamer because of true EAX support whereas Soundstorm only has up to EAX 2 support (we're already in the EAX 4 era). But if on a budget, the onboard sound, most especially a Soundstorm will more than suffice. I'd rather throw that 4-5K planned for an AUdigy into more RAM, or upgraded HD, etc, etc.

very true! if i could only hook up our AV-Reciever to our PC via optical/coax cable. :(

anyways we are currently planning to buy a new set of PC speakers.. hopefully with digital input.

  11. i suggest you invest in good speakers rather than in a soundcard. a cheap 4.1 system (Logitech Z-540) is good for gaming.

yep. i guess mahabangpasensya should consider buying a good set of speakers before buying a sound card.

a mobo with soundstorm(those with Nforce2 MCP-T chipsets, except for chaintech(forgot d model)) WILL do. it is better than the soundblaster Live and it's almost as good as the AUDIGY.

  12. Lemme count the ways...

    Rig 1

    my home office,

  13. Here's my monster's guts.

Just a jumble of wires to untrained eyes... The ultimate fragging machine for a hardcore gamer like me.

Don't worry about the tower case... It's ugly! But this brute put a lot of "manufactured" PC to shame. Just make sure, you don't find yourself on the opposite side of my "virtual" gun.

Definitely not the PC to introduce to your mom!

Considering the monitor stuck to it is a 19" CRT.

I'm not really a geek, I just hate getting killed because of lags.  :D
