The account name must be different so that means and/or accounts with different joint account owners will be considered as separate accounts. If the account is in the same name, the 250K PDIC coverage limit will apply to the aggregate of these accounts.
For really short term, I still think the way to go is the BSP Special Deposit Account with a gross of 5.9375 for thirty days.
this sounds interesting and a better option indeed.
thansk for the advice Doc. .. pls allow me to clarify futher, how does one go about 'purchasing' SDAs?
-
sorry, i was referring to SDAs actually which will give you a net rate of 4.4- 4.6% net p.a. ( or depending how much your bank is selling it for) for a 30 day placement. time deposits normally have lower rates. how much is your investment? i think BDO and some other banks accept SDAs for as low as P100k.
Headline inflation hit 12% already in July... di pa din ba sumusunod interest rates of local banks?
I think the 91d T-bill is already in the 6% level (but then again this is gross). .. frakin taxes.
ah well...

Im planning to get 5yr Tax free - Time deposit account with BPI Family, but their int rate is still 5.25%.
I think the 1yr T-Bills are doing better but hassle ata mag purchase nito.. any tips/advice?

guys, what do u think of PHILEX? newbie lng ako d2.. hope somebody can help me.. aside from philex ano pa pwde?
as per the experts' advice on previous posts... less risky if you get 1st liners (i.e. large cap, blue chip).
as for PX .. they gave 30% stock dividend last Apr i think... not bad if your strat is "buy and hold". tread and trade safely tho... these are tough times.

Thanks.
Guys what are your takes on ATR KimEng Group, from what I have been reading their performance seem to be good...
I want to invest right now specially that bear-ish ang market...
I've been with ATR for quite some time now.. i would consider this company one of the majors.. complete with research team and newsletters..downside is wla online transaction unlike citisec..
luckily i opened my account with them (ATR) while i was still based cebu.. kaya kahit hindi ka bigtime, oks lng, relatively good customer service pa din
hope this helps.

Hi. I don't know anything about investing. I want to save but I don't want to simply put my money in a savings account. Also I want something that is low maintenance, something that I don't have to frequently check. Which would be the best instrument - UITF, Mutual Funds or Treasury bonds? And what is the best bank to transact business with? Im planning to start with 10-12K.
"If you can wait and not be tired by waiting" --- try treasury bills/bonds..
"If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss" --- try speculative stocks, forex, commodities.
if ur a newbie / apprentice like me... try to research muna. not much good news driving the market this year.

Hello everyone, i would like your opinion on whether the GSIS MUTUAL FUND is as good as they advertise it. They claim annualized returns approaching 20%. Thanks for any info
suggest you read the fund's prospectus... past performance doesnt guarantee future success.
trade safely.

calling on the experts...
seems a lot of the 1st liners are rock bottom cheap and very attrative to buy,
but with no clear direction for the market yet.. is it better to go safe and get bonds (rates seem to be on the rise.. hopefully sunod agad ang yields).. what to do? what to do?

so its ok to invest in SMB inc? in your opinion how high can smb shares can reach? and does anybody know a good stock broker that would accept my small investment? tnx
pang retirement, ok siguro PCOR and SMB*.. although in d case of Petron medyo barat ata sa dividends
try citisec ... their online transactions are really convenient esp for guys like me who r not based in pinas..
try to compare ur taregt companies with their peers PCOR vs AP, FGEN, MER, PHX?

Megaworld Properties looks promising compared to ALI! Even if I am selling ALI properties as a Realtor and at the same time stock investor.
Also, The TELCOs or Telecom companies like PILTEL and PLDT look good.
di ba overweight na ang property stocks? bka maipit.. trade wisely...
PLTL is looking good. .. chekout their disclusers and press releses.. 1st dividend payout mid 2008 daw.
TP was also revised by Citisec.

both teams are locked , loaded and ready....!

After all the words you wrote, and after I read and reread them, I believe you have missed a major cause of the cancers that ail mankind. Milk. Yes, milk. You want to know why? Go to www.notmilk.com.
Last August 2004 my 66 year old mother was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She is already a ten-year survivor of cervical cancer. At her age, she refused any chemo, or radiation after undergoing her lumpectomy. The doctors all tut-tutted about her decision being life threatening. Instead, my mom opted for alternative medicine. Specifically, a soup made of several herbs and vegetables cooked for her by a Japanese friend of mine. Today, over three years later, all the remaining lumps on her breast have reduced in size to the point where it was hard to feel. Her breast cancer tumor market tests have consistently come up negative. And doctors have been insisting that she have annual expensive PET scans in the hope of unravelling this enigma. But I am happy to say that they all came up with nothing. In the meantime, my mom enjoys her daily afternoon walks in SM North and Trinoma and the visits to Ricky Reyes's salon.
My mom has cancer in the family. Out of a family of six siblings and of her brothers died from some form of cancer. The youngest of colon cancer at 23, the eldest of leukemia at 45, and the last brother of prostate cancer at 67. She continues to drink this vegetable soup that my friend makes and it has her doctors baffled and flabbergasted because I told her not to tell them that she was drinking this. Now I know that this kind of stuff never works for everybody. All I am saying is that I am glad that it worked for my mom. Statistically, without ever receiving treatment, she should be just that by now, a statistic.
this caught my attention.. 10yr survivor na mom mo of cervical cancer? wow!
i have a loved one who also has c.cancer..... i dont really know the details but is it treatable?

Reminds me of what my professor at Business School once said, "There is no such thing as a long term investors, only investors who get squeezed in a short term punt."
Invest for 1Q 08. My bets: Philodrill - where are oil prices now? Will start shipping oil in 1Q 08; Atlas - Carmen Copper to start production 1Q 08; DMCI - mining play, will start shipping nickel out of Acoje very soon; APO - MRT buyout, this could be a 2 bagger.
Stock picks for the manyaks.

seems quite a number are still bullish on mining... thanks for the tip.
i guess most investor are indeed routing for the companies in this sector.

Hi Guys.. I need your advice pls... If you have U$ 5K where would you invest it? Thanks in advance for your help!!!!
if there's one thing they teach you in graduate school .. that's to always begin your answers with "it depends".. so.. 'its depend"...is that 5k - just an extra 5k or lifetime savings mu yan.. how much risk you can handle? Next thing would be, how long you willing to wait? The usual combinations are safe&long vs risky&short. Personally, id be more on the safer side for now... bond funds, RTBs.. once the market starts to wake up again... that's the time to "lock and load!"...
cheers & trade safely

Is there any fund in Phils that has investments (portion of portfolio) abroad?
I think it would be good countermeasure to diversify 'outside' ...
Hirap kasi na sunod-sunuran na lng lagi ang PSE sa US market.. (although, lahat naman tinamaan).
When it hits, it sure hit hard... bantay lng talga dapat siguro..
Trade safely..

POTAH!
Ang lalim ng sinisid ng mercado!
Nag-post ako kanina at 20% less than closing prices to take into account another possible dip ...... taena, inabutan pa rin!!! :upside: ...... tapos yung mga hinahanap kong bargain hunters walang lumabas!
Well, August is really a ghost month they say .....
Mukhang di pa ubos ang hawak ng mga fund managers .... which means babagsak pa index ......
Siguro sunod kong posting sa par value na lang ng mga stocks .... at pag inabot pa rin yon, di na masama loob kong bumili!
Aabutin kaya 1997 levels ..... 1,200-1,400 index?
Abangan .........
Agree... recent down trend ng market reminds me of the spartan inspired movie "300".. a bloodbath!
wait and see muna, 'expect volatility for the near term' daw.. whatever the frak that means...
pero for those with the really looonngg term outlook... bagsak presyo, midnight sale bonanza ang blue chips ngayon... .. thing is, bka pa-low tide pa din ang trend.. u know what they say.. lahat sasayad pag low tide..
Trade safely
