  1. Planning to add an SSD to my MSI laptop, what's the best one rightnow? Thanks

    For NVME:

    Samsung 970 EVO - budget

Samsung 970 EVO Plus - a bit more costly from the EVO but also faster

Samsung 970 PRO - have money to spare

    For SATA:

    Samsung 860 QVO/EVO - budget

Samsung 860 PRO - have money to spare

  2. btw, what's the worst that could happen kung pabayaan mo lang yung warning mag appear sa windows? hahabulin ka ba ng microsoft to pay the penalty for using counterfeit software?

    tnx for the advice guys.

The worst that can happen is that you'll see that notice everytime you boot into Windows. Also, the background of your desktop will change to black every now and then. I suggest either buying Windows or moving to Linux. :headsetsmiley:

  3. Ah, yeah I heard nga na 3GB lang mareregister na RAM pag 32bit Vista...

is 64-bit processing stable na ba? alangan kasi ako e. Hanggat hindi stable, I might stick to 2GB RAM and XP SP2 muna.

    @ google

masyado highly technical sakin yung link na bigay mo..^^ pero anyway I understand some stuffs naman.

In my experience it is quite stable already. I've been running on a 64-bit OS for about a year now and have not encountered any problem whatsoever except with the initial driver hunt. :headsetsmiley:

  4. magkaiba kami ng ip add, magkaiba kami ng location eh ...

unfortunately, swerte ko yata at malas ng kaibigan ko ...

i just found out na shared ip ang gamit ng smartbro ...

naghahati daw sa iisang ip ang mga subscribers (per area) sa isang AP/basestation ...

    anyway, thnx po ...

That's true. SMART Bro-ken uses a single IP per AP/basestation. If you can, just try and setup a proxy server for you to use. :headsetsmiley:

  5. need help mga sir.

my hard disk " drive C" is appering sa safely remove hardware. d ba pang usb lang un.

my MOBO is MSI. ano po ba dapat gawin d2?

it happened after i updated my MOBO >via chipset<.

This is normal if you have a SATA drive and the drivers for it are installed. SATA supports hot-plugging of HDs which is why this appears on your taskbar. :headsetsmiley:

  6. Napansin ko lang na may times when I DL using rapidshare, I am being prompt with the message that I have already reached my download limit wherein fact wala pa naman ako nadownload from RS.

Pwede bang may ibang gumagamit ng available DL time ko?

Most DSL connections right now are NATed (search Wikipedia if you need an explanation...) which makes all subscribers in a particular area to share a single outside IP. This is why Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. may tell you that you've already exceeded their free download limits. :headsetsmiley:

Guys tanong lang regarding with my motherboard which is MSI K8N Neo4 F Socket 939... According to the manufacturer's specifications, it supports both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. But, tuwing nagpplug in ako ng HI-SPEED device, lagi padin siyang nagpprompt na "This device will work faster on a USB2.0 port" something like that. And when I view the available ports for my PC, it says na there are no HI-SPEED USB ports sa computer ko. Paano ko maayos to?

One friend told me na iupdate ko daw BIOS. Any other steps? Kapag nagkamale ka ng update ng BIOS mo diba pwede naman ireset yung CMOS Battery tama ba?

You may not need a new BIOS. It may be that the USB settings specified on your motherboard limit your USB to Full Speed which is the slow setting. Just go into your BIOS and set it to High Speed. (I don't know if it's vice versa or such...depends on your motherboard. Consult your board's documentation for more details.) :headsetsmiley:

  7. @ R@v3n:

But how do I know what's the normal range for voltage -- or for temperature, for that matter?

I installed software called SensorsView Pro, but it only monitors CPU temp and CPU fan speed. I noticed that my CPU temp is normally between 50 - 60 degrees Celsius but it rises to 70 - 72 degrees when my screensaver turns on. Then I get temp warnings from the software. BTW, my CPU is a Pentium IV Hyperthreading. I also have a GeForce 6600 graphics card, but it has its own fan.

When I touch the top of my desktop, mainit nga ito, lalo na if I touch the area right over the PSU. Will the sluggish PS fan contribute to the higher CPU temp? (I remember that initially, I didn't know the PS fan wasn't turning, so the CPU case became very hot and the CPU kept shutting down in mid-operation.)

BTW, should I invest in additional fans? Does it help? Where should I put them?

    @ Google:

Oo nga, worst case I will replace the PSU. But with what? Right now, my PS is 350W, for a load of a Pentium IV HT, GeForce 6600 graphics card, 2 hard disks and a DVD-CD RW combo drive. Am I overloading my PS? And if I add more, (like additional fans, DVD writer, etc), will that mean I need a higher wattage in my new PSU?

    Thanks for all the advice!

I think you should just replace your PSU outright. You're not overloading your PSU but since I assume it's a generic PSU rated at 350W, that it's pretty worked out (since generic PSUs are not really primed to handle about 350W full load all the time... :thumbsdownsmiley: ) so I would suggest that you just replace it now with a 450W PSU. :headsetsmiley:

  8. My desktop's power supply unit's fan does not turn on when i turn the CPU on. I have to give the fan's blade a little push with a pen before it gains enough strength to turn. But even then, I observe na parang hirap yung fan -- parang mabagal and hindi constant yung rotational speed. Although once it starts turning, it doesn't totally stop naman.

What's wrtong with it kaya? I already cleaned the blades and vents, because i thought maybe it's because of the clogged dirt, but it's still the same.

I think the PSU itself is still ok. Can the fan still be repaired or replaced? Or should I change the entire PSU already?

As long as your PS doesn't seem close to overheating it should be okay. I would advise you to monitor your voltages from now on since it may be that your PS is nearing its end-of-life. :headsetsmiley:

  9. yong isa pc ko sa office, lagi nagrerestart if i try to save documents to the network drive, pinatingnan ko na sa IT namin, d pa rin nila naayos, does anybody have a suggestion?

Try using another LAN card. This happens frequently with onboard LAN cards that are starting to fail. They cause the affected PC to crash or stall when conducting high throughput activities. :headsetsmiley:

  10. i have got a question...

i am a dumbasss...i just bought my acer laptop((Vista) last month and i forgot to create a backup disk..when i login to my account..the exploerer does not start up and my screen is blank..but i see a mouse cursor...what do i do orig kasi yung vista ko ..do i go out ang buy a fake copy?

There should be a recovery CD bundled with your laptop. Try restoring your installation using that. If it does not come with a recovery CD, take it to the seller for servicing. :headsetsmiley:

  11. need help..computer infected with butaur.B worm..tried removing it ith nod 32..di matanggal..any help or suggestion will be appreciated..tnxs..

    butsur.B worm pala

Have you tried going into safe mode and scanning from there? Also make sure that you have updated engines and definitions for NOD32. :headsetsmiley:

  12. How could one reformat and reinstall an OS on a hard drive if the optical drive of the computer is not working? Do I have to take out the HD?

Although I haven't tried it, you could use a USB drive (1GB above...) that contains the files from your installation CD and boot there if your motherboard supports it... :headsetsmiley:

  13. Good day.

I currently have an old but functioning Sony Vaio PCG-505FX with 64MB RAM and 40GB HD, MMX 266 Processor. It's currently running Windows 98 (not SE). It has a PCMCIA interface card for the external optical drive, but I think the optical drive is not working anymore though it still powers up. I tried using it on another laptop, got detected but still not showing up in My Computer.

What's the best way to make optimal use of this subnotebook? It has a USB drive so I feel it would be a good typing machine even if the battery is dead and the whole unit needs to be plugged in.

Should I reformat and move up to 98SE? Or try a plain XP Home install? Or shift to Linux (which I don't really know how to use but am all to willing to learn)?

    Thanks peeps.

I would advise you to upgrade to 98SE since it's more stable than the plain 98 OS. If you can, you could also just switch the entire thing to a linux distro. :headsetsmiley:
